I understand what a portfolio is. It makes perfect sense for something like photography or painting, even scupltures! But for theatre, you what, just take photos of your set/show and bits of the script? And what if you're a techie? Do you have to have notes or something? >.< Argh, it makes no sense!

What? No. You need a resume of things that you've done. You need a repertoire of songs and monologues you can do on a dime if need be. When I went to my high school you needed four contemporary comedic monologues, four contemporary dramatic monologues, four classic comedic monologues, and four classic dramatic monologues, Two dancing type songs, two modern ballads, two classic ballads, two modern uptempos, two classic uptempos, four obscure songs, and three Sondheims in order to graduate from the musical theatre program. I went to a performing arts high school.

The good thing about a portofolio for theatre (and even my major mass comm) is you can have all kinds of things for it. Be creative with it. It's not liek english where you keep a file of essays. smile Use that freedom to impress heart
