What makes all these aquatically inclined gladiers different from everybody else? Well, we figured we'd let you decide. :3

The ONLY stipulation is that they MUST be able to live underwater as well as on land. But which do they prefer?

prompt o1

Since you're deciding everything about this little slug and his cousins, we want to know more about him. Make him interesting for us to watch! After you tell us a little about his abilities (mind you he doesn't have super powers or anything) why don't you write us a little snippet of how he and his bonded human interact!

Name:: [If you can't figure this one out you really shouldn't be here....]
Bonded Human's Name:: [What's the name of his human? Does not have to be your user name, it can be the name of an OC if you intend to rp here.]
Personality snippet:: [What's the gladier like?]
Abilities:: [MUST contain living in both water and on land, other than that, don't give him super powers but you can give him certain abilities that might help on quests/battles/or even in breeding]

How they Interact:: [just a short snippet about how they interact with one another. Go crazy with it. They could be on a quest and talking as they go, they could just be in the glades, or near the lake, or maybe they're chilling out at their favorite hangout spot. You could put them at a festival or something too, if you wanted. Just show us how they interact with one another. You may also use these gladiers to interact with::

Arianna & Feirion ---Battle/Quest coordinating team
Bellfiore ---breeding specialist gladier
Illorian & the sisters---- mascot of Star Chasers and only gladier at present that can cross the world boundaries ]

prompt o2
This is for the slightly more length-inclined writers out there.

I wanna see where your gladier likes to hang out. Does he like being underwater best, or somewhere else on land?

This is a journal entry type post that can be any length really, it's more focusing on your gladier and what they enjoy about the world they live in. If they're underwater, describe what the lake looks like from down below, the gladiers that live there (including the elusive mermaids) and talk about the secret crystal cave down at its depths (yes there is one, so you know). If they're up on land, describe their glade for me, or write them just wandering around WITHOUT their bonded human.

Do they miss their human, or are they not fully attached yet? Some gladiers don't always warm up to their owners right away, so write something creative and interesting about it!

You have all week to put in your entries and entries will close next Saturday at 2pm CDT, no exceptions, for judging which will take a few hours to a day depending on how many entries there are. :3

Prompt 2

The waves above rolled methodically as the storm increased its tempo. On the world of the land-dweller, the sun was covered by dark and laden clouds that cracked on occasion, lightning crashing down to earth, followed by the peals of thunder that shook the trees.The wind whipped branches from the bent and moaning trees, throwing them into the air to be lashed by the driving rain and battered by others of it's kind before crashing unceremoniously into the wet, churning mud. The gladiers and their humans were hidden and warm in homes, watching the storm through the glass while the rain threatened to batter it's way in....

There is one thing we share after all.

I can't help but think about this. We both look at the storm through glass. But their glass is much smaller than mine!

I laughed and swam away from the surface. Those poor land dwellers. Every year storms tear that lakefront apart, and they are stuck indoors form sometimes days at a time. Unless you are in the shallows, storms are never that bad underwater. The dull roar of the storm faded away as I went deeper, and the calm water felt good. The bottom of the lake isn't that far down, but if feels like a different planet. The water is clear, and the sandy lake bottom lets all kinds of water plants grow. My favorite is the purple one that grows near my best friends house. Its tall with shiny greens leaves that are bigger than I am. And the flowers! They have five petals, and each one is a different shade of purple. And the way they sparkle.....I look at the neat rows of homes nesting in the sand, and I can't help but be happy. Each house had a bed of lake grass that flowed with the currents of those swimming by, and some had more of my favorite flower, along with a rainbow of others. Mermaids and other water gladiers were everywhere, and I see my best friend Cinta Blanc. We love to sit and watch the land dwellers from the shore.

"Hello!" She shouted, water muffling her voice. I waved, but kept going. The edge was near. The edge that lead to a deeper part of the lake, and the cave full of shiny crystals.

It got darker as I went deeper, and my mind wandered. What do the land-dwellers like so much about land? It gets hot, it rains, the wind blows everything all over. Its so unpredictable up where the sun shines. Underwater, its always around the same temperature, its never windy, and no rain to cause damage. Granted, there were no humans down below but....I don't mind. My human is nice enough, but I don't want to be bonded yet. I don't want to have to leave the world of water to stay with her...

I came to the cave, and gasped. The crystals sparkle and glimmer like nothing I have ever seen! It's the most beautiful thing!

Land-dwellers can have their sunlight. They don't know what they are missing.

Prompt 2

I woke in a sea of glistening lights. My mind confused at first of where I was. My mind slowly freed from the clouds of wariness as I looked around. I looked and saw the crystals that could only be found in the crystal caves near my house. I smiled and stood looking around. I must have fallen asleep when I was watching the lights.

I left the cave to find that night had past already. I smiled as I passed by friends, some were like me while other's were the mermaids my human say's are only legends. I thought nothing of what she said of them and told her of nothing that I knew. I'd keep them secret just in case. My under water home is so special to me. It's always calm and peaceful. Here it never gets to hot or too cold. The beauty I see when I swim around amazes me more then anything. Even though I live here and see it often it always looks so different. as if the lake were alive. I go up to the shores of the lake.

I rest my self half out and half in my watery home. The lands warm and on day's like these when the suns high in the sky and white clouds are puffing along, I feel that maybe lands just as nice. I look up as I wait for my human to arrive. Even though I love my watery home I love my new found friend so much more. She let's me visit my home when ever I want, but I can never stay away for long before I have to come back into her warm and friendly embrace.

Prompt 1

Name:: Slugaboo
Bonded Human's Name:: Kikumaru
Personality Snippet:: Hey there! Slugaboo's the name. o 3o Mostly I go by Slugs or Boo, but you can call me by whatever you please. They say that I'm quite the friendly fellow but that I can also be quite dense at times. What exactly does that word mean, anyways? o Ao I constantly change my mind about whatever I'm doing, but that seems to suit me fine. I haven't a care about what others think about me, but I do rather enjoy sharing company more with happy gladiers.
Abilities:: I can breathe both in water and on land, which gives me an advantage over most of the other gladiers ('cept those 'uns with the wings - I can't compare to their fancy flying). My body can also adapt to certain environments, since I don't seem to have an internal bone structure. This makes me somewhat...fluid at times.

How they Interact::
[[I hope it's alright if I used one of my existing gladiers for this.]]
"Ewwww, this place stinks." Kuuya rolled up her nose in distaste as her paws squelched in the wet mud. "Why do we have to go here, anyways?"
"I'm not quite sure...but the smell isn't affecting me much." I poked my head up from under the reeds that swathed almost the entire edge of the marsh, taking a good long look around my surroundings. "It's actually kind of interesting here," I added as I bent my head to observe a mutant-looking water beetle scurry from one bed of moss to another.
"Interesting?" Kuuya snorted, having difficultly believing that this wasteland could be "interesting".
I sighed, still partly submerged under the dank swamp water. She could be so difficult sometimes. "If you just forget about the 'in-the-middle-of-nowhereness' and weird smells, maybe you can actually enjoy the orgasnisms dwelling here." And my company, I thought bitterly, starting to regret going on the mission now. There was no turning back now, so I pulled myself out of the bog, grunting with the effort.
"Hmph." Kuuya remained stubbornly silent for the rest of the walk, even though she did seem to relax a little. Her eyes even widened a bit as a shooting star passed overhead, which I took as a good sign, but soon she returned to being as rude and snobby as ever.

When we finally reached the end of the marshlands, she plopped down on the soft grass and dozed off almost immediately. Although she had been so annoying during the journey, I couldn't help but smile a little to myself. It's hard to believe that someone so rude could be so peaceful, I thought to myself. I slid into a nearby pool of water, my head on land and my body in the water. Looking up into a wide starry expanse, I closed my eyes and started dreaming of more adventures, perhaps one for tomorrow...

Prompt 2:

I lay in the grass and feel a swelling in my chest as delicate hints of sun and freshly dried dew hit my nose. It has been a while since I have had the urge to laze about by myself here, but now that I am here it feels just like the first time I found this quiet spot. You know that feeling in your heart when you have come home for the first time in a long time? It is just like that. Only better. It is as if the world itself is telling me that I belong here, in this place, in this exact spot, on my back imagining the clouds I would be seeing if I opened my eyes.

A quiet breeze picks up to dance amongst the grass and tickles my side. It feels like that saying I have heard: That somewhere across the world, a butterfly has sneezed. I do not know if that is true, however I like to believe that it is. The idea that something as delicate as the smallest butterfly could affect the winds elsewhere appeals to me. Not the power of it all, like some would say, but that everything is connected. Nothing makes me feel that way more than my personal sanctuary. I am lucky that I have found such a place.

My human companion tells me that I am strange for choosing such a public place as right near the lake where I reside. I do not understand what she means by that, though. I enjoy the peace other's laughter insinuates. The joy of it. It is also not impossible to simply un-hear them when I feel that I need to be alone. Having my friends and family close by as I forget the wearies of the day-to-day is comforting. No one should be in a place where they forget that. I would feel truly sorry for such a being if I ever met one. I am still young, though.

The sun has started to set, I can see less color against the back of my eyelids as I stare at them. I know that as I open them I will be assualted by a scene the greatest mortal artists would envy. Indeed, as I look up, that is exactly what I see and my whole body smiles. It is time for me to return to the lake. To eat, play, and enjoy those that I love. I get to the water's edge. I take one last look at the spot where I have spent my day. Sitting, serenely on a blade of grass, is a lone butterfly.

I wonder if somewhere a breeze has picked up, and someone feels it the way I have.

Prompt #2 and a little of #1 n.n

Name:: Aquarius
Bonded Human's Name:: Kaeleira
Personality snippet:: Quiet and inquisitive, this little gladier is constantly poking his nose in to every little nook and cranny he can find. He can be a bit on the shy side, but he quickly tries to befriend any sentient creature he meets, be it a creature of the sea, earth or sky.
Abilities:: Aquarius possesses a keen eye, a kind heart, and an insatiable sense of curiosity. He is quite nimble from his adventures on land and under the sea, though he is better at fleeing than fighting if thrown into danger. Nonetheless, he is no coward, and will bravely go where others dare not. Whether this is actual courage or simple folly is unclear.

Twilight filtered down to the lake bed, glimmering softly and tinting everything in dusky shades of indigo and darkness. Purple seaweed swayed gently with the ocean swell, dotted here and there with bright bits of flora, like eyes in the deep. Unbeknownst to many of the creatures in the area, two of these bright bits really were eyes. Aquarius peered out between the waving fronds, eyes slowly tracking from side to side, following the movements of his quarry. His body was relaxed, swaying along with the plant life around him. This rendered him near invisible, perfect for his pursuit. For he was observing the elusive Jub Jub, rarely seen and never before documented.

Ah, if only his human were here! She would be able to capture the beautiful light show and preserve it forever in her glowy box, and he was sure she would delight in studying the patterns that the lights created. He was sure this seemingly random emitting of light actually carried some sort of message. Perhaps if he stayed a while longer he could discern the meaning behind the mesmerizing display. But alas! It was not to be. The Jub Jub began to swim away! It seemed to be finished its business in the seaweed beds, and glided off into the darkness.

Aquarius hesitated not one second before pushing off and moving silently after his gem, his sparkling mystery. He followed at a distance, moving as little as possible and always staying out of site. The Jub Jub, while brilliant in its light shows, was actually quite shy and skittish. Aquarius could relate. He sometimes felt a little jittery himself, if caught in the center of attention. But enough of that. The Cetus had to concentrate, or he would lose his quarry. He skimmed over rippling vistas of white sand, drifted down gentle slopes, and eventually spiraled down into a blue hole.

Deeper and deeper he went, following the Jub Jub into the abyss. The pressure started to mount, and Aquarius found himself growing a tad uncomfortable, but the softly pulsing glow beckoned him ever onward. He lost all measure of time there in the dark, and the minutes stretched on into hours, or even days. Eventually, however, Aquarius fancied he saw a light, growing ever brighter as he swam further into the deep. The glow of the Jub Jub disappeared, and the gladier became alarmed. He was losing his gem! He swam faster, and suddenly the light became so bright it was blinding.

Aquarius immediately stopped and curled into a ball, ready for whatever disaster would befall him in this lonely place. Nothing happened. In fact, there seemed to be a gentle current swirling around him, and the water was much warmer than he would have expected, so far from the sun he was. He cracked open one bright orange eye, then opened both wide. He couldn't believe what he was seeing. Soft light emanated from every surface, no longer blinding but still illuminating every corner and crevice. And all around him Jub Jubs of all sizes floated lazily!

The little gladier gaped at the cave he found himself in, his eyes taking in every detail of the sparkling crystal walls and his brain struggling to keep up. The sheer beauty of it all brought tears to his eyes, and his heart swelled near to bursting. This was the moment of a lifetime. Aquarius drank as much of it in as he could, knowing it could never last. Distantly, he felt his human's questioning probe, and absentmindedly replied. He wasn't paying attention to the thoughts and feelings he sent though, and transferred the full force of his joy to his human. He felt her recoil, and snapped out of his daze with a jolt.

Aquarius blinked, once again blinded by bright light. However this light was harsher, warmer, mer visceral than the light from the cave. After his eyes became accustomed to the brightness, he blinked some more and looked around, utterly bewildered. All around him were the sights and sounds of a beautiful summer day. The trees waved in the wind, almost teasing in the way they mimicked the seaweed he had floated through earlier. What was he doing on land? Where was the crystal cave he had just been overwhelmed by? A face loomed into view, and the gladier found himself staring up into the face of his human.

"Hey buddy, did you just wake up?" Kae asked, smiling down at him. "That must have been some dream! You were twitching all over the place and sending crazy weird feelings." She giggled and ruffled the fur between his horns, then turned back to her book.

Aquarius gaped at his human as she opened up to the page she had been on. A dream....?
