Frankly, I'm sick of the movies getting so VISUALLY dark.
It's very atmospheric on the big screen, but on a TV screen you can't see anything of what's going on! mad

I was having trouble with seeing it on the big screen, even.
Mind you I was on the front row looking up, but I'm going with my family tomorrow so it'll probably look a bit better. xp

Get in a stadium theater & get about eye-level with the middle of the screen. It helps loads.

Well yeah, but premieres are the worst places to be late to. sweatdrop
Also, I think I would have been mobbed due to my friend loudly booing at the Twilight trailer. sweatdrop xp

Frankly I was mad about this by the Fourth movie.

Barty Crouch Jr. Amazing character. Complex.
And the screenwriters RUINED it!

He would have done the whole "defiant" at his arrest, that wasn't the issue, its AFTER the kid SAW Azkaban, he freaked ((or he was acting to save his own skin)) and 12 years under an Imperius Curse...wouldn't YOU go mad?

Tennant has that "grovel and plead" talent on one hand, and psycho on the other...he could have pulled it off quite well...but NO!

and OotP was soo dark...
IDK, I'm just annoyed at the world right now...

Finally got around to seeing this movie. It's definitely not a kid's movie, in the way that the earlier ones were. Still thought it was okay, although the end wasn't as good as it could have been. I somehow expected Dumbledore's death to be a little more dramatic, and I find it hard to believe the Deatheaters would just leave Harry Potter alone like that, regardless of what Snape said about Potter being Voldemort's to deal with. I mean... they could have just hauled him over to the big bad evil guy.

Snape's 'Yes, Harry, I'm the Half-Blood Prince' at the end was really weird, since Harry never even mentioned the name to Snape. Is that supposed to be Snape's subtle way of telling Harry 'hey, I left you my old potions book on purpose to help you. I'm on your side, you nitwit!'

Overall, the movie felt a bit too compressed at times. I guess that's what happens when you try to cram a year's worth of schooling into a 2.5 hour film.

More like a lame way to fill in a vital piece of information at the last minute because they almost forgot about the mystery the entire thing is NAMED AFTER. rolleyes

I don't think Snape did that intentionally, or at least I can't remember if it was explained if he did or not. It was just an old forgotten textbook.

Also, I could be dead wrong but I think it was in the library or something but IDK. There was a lot left out about the Half-Blood Prince in the movie except for like three lines.

Aaaaand the part about Harry being only for Voldemort is straight from the book although they could have handled it a little better. confused

^ Well, if you just go by the movie itself, its certainly possible to imagine a scenario where Dumbledore asks McGonagall to tell Harry to take the Potions class, and asks Snape to find a way to help Harry do well in Potions class so that Harry can get closer to Slughorn. That may not be how it played out in the books, but the movies have made some notable changes already.

The only other way you could rationalize Snape's line about the Half-Blood Prince in the film is if you figure that Snape must have deduced that Harry read his old potions text book because he used that spell on Draco in the bathroom.

I didn't notice any of the Hogwarts ghosts in this movie. Wasn't Moaning Myrtle supposed to be in the bathroom at some point with Draco, or was that in the next book?

Yep. That's how I figured it because he gave Harry this really weird look and then started muttering the countercurse (or at least started doing stuff that seemed to work, obviously). Soooo yeah.

Yep. And Peeves has just been absent from all the movies. Which reaaaally stinks because I was looking forward to McGonnagall's line about a prank Peeves was trying to do on creepy-lady-in-pink in Book 5. "It unscrews the other way." mrgreen

I have a feeling they just couldn't fit everything in this movie, but also they're saving the money/effects/technology for when it matters most. *cough*They do show up in book 7. Kind of a lot. And then help advance the plot by 100000x. Soooo. *cough*
