I was wondering how everyone else dealt with the summer and Lolita. I for one live in a heat hell sprinkled with humidity called Florida that is a nightmare for Lolita. I wear my jsk without a blouse and pair it with bolero like so x that is airy and soft. I don't use petticoats as much and try to tone down darker colors.

So what do you other Lolis do in such heat?

Just last night I completed what was designed to be a summerweight lolita, I'll post pictures and tell you whether or not I was successful at all on Sunday, because on Saturday I'm wearing it to an amusement park with friends. 3nodding Of course the first things I think of are the obvious: avoid corsets and flannel petticoats. Obvious thought is obvious.
And the part of me that grew up doing historical reenacting keeps thinking, "The solution is obvious. Make a knee-length hoop skirt."
While hoopskirts are wonderfully comfortable in the heat, as they not only give your skirt the right shape but allow for a very comforting breeze on a warm day, something about a short one just seems wrong.
It would have to be a properly made one, of course, and not a hula hoop sewn into the dress, which I saw at a con once. It made my eyes bug out.

I wear the practically the exact same things lol.
A week or so ago I wore a full kuro outfit - bow, longsleeve blouse (I detached the sleeves after a while of waiting in line, but reattached them the second the concert ended practically), jsk, petti, tights, platforms ect. To beat the heat I removed were my gloves, left the wig at home and brought a fan n water lol. I wasn't the only one dressed ott either. Everyone wanted to look nice for the M10M concert <3

All of my wardrobe is black (be the item gothic, sweet or other) and I always wear a petti, so I think I've just finally become used to the heat. If its really, reeeally humid and I know I'll be doing a lot of activity I wear everything minus socks lol.

{{ I'm in Southern California btw. }}

I'm just used to the heat, so I generally don't make concessions to it unless I'm going to be running around doing errands a lot. If I'm going to be getting all sweaty and heated, I'll skip out on the petticoat and wear short sleeves or, if it's really nastily humid, a non-lolita t-shirt instead.

It also helps if I'm inside most of the time, 'cause air conditioning is a wonderful thing, right?

Around the house, I just wear a JSK but when I go outside I put on a short sleeved blouse with the JSK and some knee high socks.

During the summer, i normally don't wear thick socks, but tights and sheer socks instead. I also sometimes don't wear bloomers or a blouse underneath a JSK. I wear lighter colors and always carry around a parasol~ For me, always wearing a petticoat keeps my legs from getting too sweaty (also). It's never windy when it's really hot, where i live

Where I live it is pretty hot and humid right now, although no-where near as hot as you guys get, considering I live in Canada (west-end, close to the Canada - USA border), so I've been going without a petticoat and bloomers... and without head-dresses/mini-hats. I tend to wear my hair up in a pigtail or pony tails because it keeps it away from my neck and thusly creating less sweat.

Yesterday I spent the day at an amusement park in the summerweight jumperskirt I designed and mentioned earlier.
I do not think it was the full-sized boater that kept me cool, or even the light fabric. I think it had to do with the fact I rode a roller coaster that dropped into a pool of water three times first thing in the morning, soaking through my petticoats and down to my bloomers.
I was pleasantly cool all day.
Also, I didn't take one because I was at an amusement park, but I imagine a parasol would help.

I'm one of those foolish people who never adjust their fashions for the seasons. As a result, I'm usually uncomfortable warm in the summertime, and uncomfortable cold in the wintertime. Of course, it helps that I don't leave the house much in the summer.
