My old director waited to long to order a new field show, so she missed the cut off date. now, she is having the new drum major (who really isn't that good...he didn't take training seriously enough) wright drill for a Michale jackson tribute show. Almost all of the people in my old band were not fans of MJ, and are not happy at all about the theme for next year. My sister, who is the old Drum major suggested a "Guitar Hero" theme, where the director would still get her MJ (beat it is in guitar hero) and the band could play songs they like like Livin' on a prayer and crazy train, but she is not open for compromise. She is determined to coppy the Fresno State marching band because her two kids are going there and both are in the marching band.
*NOTE: I don't like Mj, that's my personal opinion, and that of the majority of my old band. i'm not trying to down anyone who does like him. Just imagine your director decides to do a tribute show to a band/singer you hate.*

I hate doing shows about famous people period. It's just annoying because you know what to expect and people are going to be more critical if you mess up especially in a show like yours. That's why we never really do that stuff..

Wait...your drum major is writing the drill? That's adventurous. I don't think I could write a good drill if my life depended on it. Well, maybe if I had the cool drill-writing program... Do your drum majors always write your drill?
The problem with shows like that, as someone mentioned, is people have higher expectations. A really good band can pull it off, but the rest of the time, you want something no one else is playing so there's nothing to compare it to.
