I'd try to fix it by re-installing XP or installing a different OS.

It'd thoroughly help to know what BSoD it is. ^_____^
That way I can tell you how to fix it hopefully permanently, but if the PC is beyond 5 - 7 years ago, replacing it is a good advice... Depending on your PC needs I can gladly help you choose a new machine within budget.

wipe your hard drive probably loads of virus(es) on it, and change the OS to something like vista (it sucks but linux is worse). If that doesn't work try adding a new graphics card and more memory, and if that doesn't work (it'll be the same anyway) buy a new computer, or make one.

I had a rather old IBM that crashed practically everytime I looked at it--well it wasn't that bad, but you know what I mean. It had Windows 98 and I had to wipe everything clean, restore all of the original settings, and update. Each time it would last a little longer before crashing again. Eventually, I brought it to the proper recycling center and purchased a new one. So far, I haven't had any problems.

I had a dell that did that all the time. I just formatted and installed xp pro. You could also try win2k if the computer is really old. Ubuntu linux is good too- it almost never crashes and takes up very few resources. But your best bet would be to upgrade your processor and ram. I dont know, but its probably a socket 478 processor. That means you could get a decent pentium 4. Ram max is probably 1gb. Download cpu-z from filehippo.com to get more info on your comp. A PCI video card is also a good upgrade for an old machine.
