Tahmores felt something deep down inside of him pulling him towards somewhere. He didn’t know what to think of this feeling. He hadn’t had it before yet at the same time he hadn’t become a mate with a mare before. He knew deep down inside that Hera was probably feeling this same sensation that he was feeling. Caving into the pull, he began to wander away from the herdlands and towards someplace he had once known to be home when he was a colt.
Meanwhile, deep inside of her grotto, Hera, too, was getting an urge to go wandering. She didn’t know where her mind was telling her to go but deep down inside she knew. She was scared of the consequences that might become inflicted upon herself and Tahmores if this feeling that she was experiencing turned out to be something that she feared. She hesitated slightly as she felt her body move a few steps towards the opening of her grotto. Wasn’t this something that she was ready to face by allowing Tahmores to become her mate? Of course it was. With her head held high, she trotted out of her grotto and towards the fruitlands.

It didn’t take either one of them long to find their way into the Shrilal territory. They found each other right as they entered the lands and stared at each other for a few seconds before one of them spoke. "So, my deepest fear turned out to be true," she said in a low whisper. "Though I cannot say that I didn’t expect this top happen." Tahmores pawed at the ground and stared at her curiously. "It looks like the damage is already done. Now there is no way that I can go back to Yi," he commented, receiving a confused look from Hera.
"Weren’t you the one who decided to become my mate?" she asked him coldly. Tahmores sighed and shifted his wings more comfortably on his back. "I said I would try to be your mate. I never said that I was willing to become your mate." He paused for a few seconds as he gazed around. "Though it looks like I am going to be your mate for now on since this happened." Hera nodded her head and gazed towards two trees in front of them that seemed to be intertwined with each other. Tahmores gazed in the direction the mare was looking in and groaned. There, on one of the large branches that was intertwined with each other, was a single fruit. "Might as well get this over with," she said to her mate as she wandered over to the two trees. Tahmores hesitated for a few seconds before following her.

As they approached the two intertwined trees, they could see the fruit better. Hera was a little diappointed to see that the fruit wasn't brindled like her but she was happy to see that it was the same coat color. She wasn't surprised to see the blotches on it like her mate bore on his coat. When they got closer to the trees, Hera could feel something draining from her. So this is what it felt like to help a fruit hatch. She leaned up against one of the trunks of the trees and gazed over at the stallion. "You are going to have to take care of me during the duration of this...at least until our child is born," she said to him in a slightly weary voice. Tahmores nodded his head and walked a few feet away from his mate to keep a lookout in case any fruit-hungry Nequus were roaming in the area. Relieved that he would, indeed, take care of her, at least for now, Hera closed her eyes and began to doze.

As the days dragged on, more and more energy was drawn from Hera to the fruit. Some days she felt weaker than others but overall she didn't really feel very weakened from the fruit. She knew that might as the fruit got closer and closer to hatching. But she never gave up hope and she hoped that Tahmores didn't either. She gazed over at the splotched stallion who was busy making his rounds around the trees and wondered what he was thinking. It probably wasn't very good thoughts. She could tell that he wasn't very happy about this entire situation but he was the one who had left Yi, not the other way around. 'Perhaps I should talk to him about that,' she thought wearily. Before she could call him over, she could slowly feel her body fall asleep. 'Maybe tomorrow,' she thought before falling asleep.
Tahmores stopped for a few moments to gaze at the sleeping mare. He didn't know what had come over him when he accepted her offer to become her mate. He must have been insane to do that. He wasn't even a herd member yet and he had become a mate with a mare of the herd. He shook his head slightly and began to walk around the trees again. Sooner or later he was going to snap and run away from her like he did with Yi. He hung his head down slightly. It was only a matter of time before he did snap and run away.

Soon, the days turned into weeks, and then in a blink of an eye the weeks turned into two months. Hera still hadn't talked to Tahmores about the situation that they were in nor ask him what he was feeling at that moment. She knew that he was starting to turn his emotions inward because every time that he saw him when she wasn't sleeping he had a blank look on his face. She didn't really like it yet she didn't have the energy to try and convince him to talk to her about what he was feeling. Tending to the fruit was tiring business and she hoped that the fruit might hatch soon.
A few hours later, when Hera was attempting to graze at some grass near the edge of the trees, Tahmores approached her, a concerned look on his face. He stared at her for a few moments before Hera, fed up with his distance, finally broke the silence. "Well, what do you want to say?" she snapped at him. Normally she wouldn't do this but he was trying her little patience that she had left. "I am not sure if I can do this anymore." Hera stared at him dumbfound. Surely he wouldn't leave her all alone out here! She frowned slightly at him. "We are in this together. This isn't just my fault. This is both of our faults! I am not going to be raising this child on my own! You are going to....hey!" In the middle of her rant, Tahmores spun around and galloped away from her, leaving Hera alone with the unhatched fruit.

The days flew by and before Hera knew it, two weeks had passed since Tahmores ran away from her. Afraid of leaving the fruit unattended for more than a few minutes, she stuck near the tree, grazing every so often at the grass that grew near the two intertwined trees. Her body was slightly thinner than it had been but that was because she was afraid of leaving her fruit alone to graze for more than a few moments. The brindled mare looked up at the fruit and wondered if it was worth risking her own life to hatch it. She had the urge to knock it down and eat it but her motherly instincts kicked in and told her that wasn't a very good idea. She was about to wander a few feet away from her tree when she heard a rustle of something, or someone, nearby.
All of a sudden a black and white splotched Aeri came out of the brush and ran towards the thin mare. Weakened by the fruit, Hera could only back up into the tree behind her. The mad Nequus might actually kill her and eat her fruit. She pinned her ears back against her skull and prepared to defend herself and her fruit but that didn't happen. Out of nowhere, Tahmores came running towards the angered Aeri and lashed out at it with his forehooves. The Aeri quickly dodged Tahmores' attack and looked at both Hera and Tahmores before turning around and fleeing. Hera stared dumbfound at Tahmores before lashing out at him. He quickly sidestepped it and frowned at her. "Nice to see you, too," he muttered to her before positioning himself a few feet away from her. Hera glared at him for a few moments before finally speaking to him. "Why did you come back? I thought you had left for good." Tahmores remained silent for a few moments before answering her. "Because it was foolish of me to leave you. That...and you are right. It is both our responsibilities to raise our child. I was stupid but now I have come back in hopes of repairing our fragile relationship and hopefully make things better between us." Hera nodded her head slightly. She was slightly weary that he might leave her again but for now things were better between them. Hopefully they wouldn't wait too much longer for the fruit to hatch.

A few days after Tahmores came back to Hera, the fruit began to wiggle on its branch. Tahmores shifted slightly, unsure of what the fruit was doing. Hera, however, knew exactly what was going on, even though this was her first offspring. She gazed over at her mate and sighed loudly. "The fruit is alright," she said before it opened up and a small figure came tumbling out of it and landed softly on the ground.

The tiny foal gazed up at his parents and blinked a few times to get his eyes adjusted to the light outside of his fruit. Hera trotted to her son's side and began to clean his pelt. Tahmores gazed down at his son and was a little shocked to find that he wasn't brindled like his mother was. Both Hera and Tahmores wasn't surprised to find the colt tearmarkless, like his mother. Hera knew that any offspring that she had would be tearmarkless. She was just happy that he finally hatched when he did. She didn't know if she had the strength to continue on for much longer. "He's perfect," she whispered to Tahmores. The stallion nodded his head and stood next to Hera. "What are we going to call him?" Hera tilted her head to one side and gazed at the foal curiously. "Apollo. It was the name of my grandfather before he died outside of the herd lands." Tahmores nodded his head, agreeing with the name. Together, they sheltered little Apollo from the blinding light so that he could get a little rest before they headed back towards the herd lands.
