Lights flashed here and there and just about everywhere. The room was only lit by those coloured lights. The jet black walls seemed to make the place look more like an abandoned warehouse than any decent club, but the pay was decent and well known to those who wished to find them. The night was young but the dance floor was already half full of people who were dancing. or at least that's what it looked like... Peoples' bodies moved left and right as waitresses and waiters suffered through it all as they handed a drunk person another alcoholic beverage or a sober person a glass of soda water.

Puccho sat in Lily's from pocket in the masquerade. It wasn't the most exciting thing, but Lily, his guardian, had a part-time job at the club. Everyone wore masks and all the waiters and waitresses wore the same thing to fall into the crowd from the others who wore either flashy clothing or neony coloured clothes. No one noticed the little ferment sitting in the pocket of a small figured young waitress. Puccho hadn't seen any other Gogos since that meeting with Philly which was more of a light chat than anything. He just wanted a companion to spend his days with and keep him on his toes.

Further along the table, a young lady was busy being shocked, and a slightly older lady was laughing. "B-but this isn't like the masquerades in books at ALL!" Koko said, perplexed in her tiny doll gown and little makeshift mask. Meanwhile, Lena was catching her breath, and with a gasp she managed to say "--A rave!" before falling back into giggles at the sight of the ever-so-proper Gogo's face.

Koko looked indignant and chose to depart with icy dignity, walking along the edge of the bar counter to sit down primly and sulk. "There was supposed to be music." she muttered to herself, clearly upset. "Not this... drum stuff. Music, and masks, and elegant people and intrigue." Sniffing a little and feeling sorry for herself because clearly no one else was going to, she plucked at her little white gloves. She was a little thirsty and very much let down and she just needed something proper to keep her going until Lena recovered from her fit of hilarity enough to take her daughter home.

Lily, not being of age of drinking yet, was offering people fruity soft drinks to those who were in the mood for it. She carried the tray in one hand as she pushed with the other, ever so gently. Puccho, almost dying in the pocket, started to complain about the dance party.

"I wanna go home" He whined as he tugged on the girl's black vest from the inside. Lily pushed his head back into her pocket and told him to keep quiet. He didn't like the noise or the people or the pushing. He just wanted to be home where it was safe or at the small cafe that Lily loved going to. That place with the really good pastries and tea. He liked it there. There was none of this kind of junk.

"I need this part-time job to get the money." She said to him. "If I don't have money, who's going to buy you the snacks and drinks you like?" She told him almost sternly before quickly getting back to the participants in the so-called 'masquerade'. Puccho just crossed his arms and slunk back into her pocket without his security flower. He didn't want it to get ruined, so he left it in front of Lily's computer in her room.

Seeing a waitress who looked slightly less surly and frightening than the others and was probably not carrying alcohol, (Which was highly unladylike and not to be consumed by any real heroine.) Koko jumped to her feet and waved her arms as gracefully as possible. Attracting someone's attention when one was the size of a pair of chopsticks was a difficult task, but as long as this night was going to be appallingly unladylike, she might as well get something to drink. "Excuse me!" she called out delicately. "Pardon me, may I have a beverage if it is indeed nonalcoholic, as I suspect? Miss!" She didn't notice the little gentleman in her pocket, so busy was she with trying to make her night more pleasant somehow. "Oh, please notice me!"

Lily, after pushing her way towards where a small voice could be heard more as a squeak of a mouse than a call of distress. But it was still a call. Lily made her way through the crowd and reached where a small lady stood in a gown and dainty white gloves. "Wow." was all that Lily could say. One eyebrow cocked up as she noticed how this small figured girl (which looked pretty much like a doll), could go unnoticed by the many people here. She hadn't seen someone so small since Puccho! "Are you perhaps... a gogo?" Lily asked as she bent over and whispered to the chopstick height girl in the gown with her minty breath.

Puccho poked his head out of the pocket at the sound of Lily talking to someone without her usual air if she was talking to someone drunk. His green head peeked to see who was out there. To his surprise, it was a girl, and a pretty one at that. He dug back in out of shyness and hoped that she didn't see him.

The Gogo nodded, curtsying daintily and lifting up the hem of her tiny gown as she did so. She was a little abrupt, but she had clearly heard of Koko before, which probably meant she was an admirer or helpful villager or something, and thus must be treated kindly. "My name is Takoyaki Powell, it's a pleasure to meet you, Miss...?"

It was too late for Puccho, because as she rose from her curtsy she saw him duck into the pocket and let out an exclamation. "Ah, don't be afraid! I assure you, I'm not evil in any way whatsoever. In fact, I suspect I'm a plucky heroine, so it's quite all right! Please don't be deceived by the unladylike settings; I was quite convinced that this was supposed to be a proper masquerade ball, but so far it only looks like Peril." She strove to look extra harmless and ladylike at this, blinking her wide green eyes disarmingly. "Unless you are Perilous or under some sort of curse that is quite embarrassing to see...? If that's the case, I quite understand."

She eyed the drinks on Lily's tray, but resisted. Socializing first, she had to be polite and set a good example in this den of Evil!

"Lily. You can call me Lily. It's nice to meet you miss Powell." She said with a smile and returning the curtsy with an awkward one as she had drinks in one hand. She noticed a quick glance at the drinks on her tray from this girl and realized that she totally forgot about her request. "I'm really sorry, Miss Powell!" She said as she began to fret. "Please, have any one you like. They're all non-alcoholic." She said as a reassuring phrase towards Takoyaki.

Puccho was sort of despondent before she spoke, but with reassuring words from this girl's mouth, Puccho felt hope in his heart. He poked his head out fo the pocket slowly and looked towards the girl. She looked so pretty... But this was no time to be daydreaming about a girl he just met. He gathered courage to raise a hand and give a shy wave to her. "h-hi there." He said with a soft smile.

Koko waved a hand idly. "Oh no, I assure you that there is nothing to apologize for." she said graciously. "Could you please put one with a straw over here?" She patted next to herself on the counter. "Any kind will suffice, thank you Miss Lily."

She gave the shy thing in the waitresses' pocket a smile. Clearly he was a sidekick type, the blushing adorable type who made daisy crowns for the heroine and nodded seriously while she confided in them. Pleased to have found one in a place where she sorely needed someone to confide in, she swept him a curtsy as well. "And who might you be?" the takoyaki queried. "Do come sit with me!"

Lily smiled at the polite air around this little female. It was a totally different air around her own Gogo who was nothing but timid. "Sure," She answered as she picked up a sparkling orange and white peach soda and put a pink bendy-straw in it. "Here you are." Lily said while placing it beside the Gogo "You might like it. It's quite a nice drink." She said to the Gogo. Lily had enjoyed this many times and had grown accustomed to it's sugary taste and bubbly sensation.

Puccho peeked out again at the request from the girl. His head poked as she curtsied in her pretty gown. It almost took his breath away that a gogo could look so pretty. "Okay..." He said as he climbed down halfway before Lily just helped him onto the table where the Takoyaki girl had her drink. "I'm Puccho." He said in a soft tone of voice. "And you are Takoyaki Powell, right?" He asked to make sure. He had heard bits of conversation here and there inside the pocket, but hadn't caught everything, so he couldn't help but ask to make sure.

"Why thank you, Miss!" Koko said graciously, and bent down the straw to take a sip. The air bubbles in the soda were enormous, so it was a bit difficult, and the Takoyaki hiccuped dreadfully, but it was something to drink. Smiling sheepishly and covering her mouth as she hiccuped again, Koko pushed the drink aside for a moment. "Very -hic!- refreshing." she assured the waitress.

"It's a pleasure to -hic!- meet you, Puccho. I am -hic!- indeed Takoyaki Powell, and you may -hic!- call me Koko." Conspiratorially she leaned over to him, whispering in his ear. "This 'masquerade' is most decieveing! Where is all the orcherstral music? Where are the -hic!- fine ladies and gentlemen? Do you happen to -hic!- know what occured here?"

Puccho smiled shyly at this girl who seemed quite the character to be around. She looked like fun. "Okay, Koko then." He said sheepishly. "This is what this masquerade is. It's like a rave and a masquerade in one. Something new age." He said, making out what she had said beyond the hiccups that the soda had given her. He almost chuckled at the other Gogo as she made things work with her hiccups."But it's still going to be fun! It's the same except the people, the outfits, the music and the atmosphere." He tried to make things better.

Lily just smiled at her. "Do you want something to help you get rid of those hiccups?" She said as she looked on her tray to see if there was anything that wasn't fizzy or wouldn't be suited to the tastes of a teenager. Water, which seemed so common, was of short supply on her tray. She'd have to get some from the table across the dance floor to get some for Koko if she wanted it.

Koko looked at him in horror, hiccuping more with alarm. "You -HIC!- mean -hic!- people intended it to turn out -HIC- like this? But it's -hic!- totally wrong!" She looked briefly miserable until she remembered that heroines were not allowed to be miserable unless they were in peril. She thought for a minute and figured that since Lena was laughing at her, that made her a Currently Evil Stepmother and put her in enough peril to count. Free to sulk, she went back to it guilt-free.

"Oh, -HIC!- no, no, no, -hic!- I am perfectly capable of drinking the same beverage as the -hic!- commoners. Thank you for offering, though."

She looked around desperately, a tiny lost lady in a ballgown in a big, frightening rave. "So when is -hic!- it over?" she asked forlornly.
