I'm back from camping and not even sunburned! Had a great time even though our tents blew down the other night because of a wicked storm. We ended up taking down all our tents, packing everything up, and driving home. It's only a two hour drive so I wasn't bothered by it. Plus, by that time I was ready for a real bed. Camping is fun and all, but after awhile you just want to sleep on a nice comfortable bed. Now on to the details.
Went swimming, fishing, and hung out and ate s'mores. Sound boring? Just wait. So the first night we were there my sister and I walked down to the showers to rinse off the bug spray and wash the lake water out of our hair. On the way back it had gotten dark so we had to use our flashlights. We started chasing the toads around that were on the road. Then we came across what I thought was a stick on the road....Until it moved. It was my new little friend.

I know what you're thinking. "It's just a snake." Here's another picture for you all.

Yeah. That's a rattle snake*, ladies and gentlemen. Blocking my sister and I from getting back to camp. My mom had to get in the van and run it over because we didn't have a shovel or anything. I'm all for "don't kill the animals" and all, but when a venomous snake is poised to strike your own survival trumps the snakes.
And we were pretty sure the person that was the camp post was dead. The trailer was there, the AC was running, there was a car parked there, lights were on (all the time), and the water was running, but nobody ever came out. We knocked a few times, but no one answered. We talked to a few other campers and they all said they had gotten the same results. Everyone was sure there was a dead body, but nobody wanted to find it. At one point my sisters, aunt and I snuck up and peeked in the cooler that was sitting outside. We were hoping for fingers but all we got was empty.
*All pictures taken postmortem.

Good to have you back, Lucie. I might have been more impressed if you told me you had jumped on the snake and ripped it apart with your bare hands and teeth, but I guess a car will do. :p I am going to roll dice now, for no reason other than the fact that I can.

@blindedscience: I'm not afraid of snakes, in fact I tend to pick up the harmless ones and play around with them. I'm smart enough, though, that when I come across a venomous one I keep my distance. Especially when they are on the defense and about to attack.
@D: You don't like my new friend? xp

@D: You don't like my new friend? xp The poisonous ones, no. I voted for eating. . . ^_^. I'm all for stuffing it and putting it under someone's bed.

There was even going to be a party for you. A big party that all your friends were invited to. I invited your best friend the Companion CubeRattle Snake. Of course, he couldn't come because you murdered him.
Welcome back Lucie! Missed ya!

It was me or the snake. I chose me. Not a very unusual choice if you know me. I'm quite selfish. Especially when it pertains my life.

What? I didn't want the creepy doll babies to pee on me! Someone had to block it. Marx was just in a very convenient place.
