What is our purpose as magicians of the world? Why are we here now?
Yes, we do get called on to tell the future and get rid of astral nasties.
But other than that? If we were in a time like World War 2, then I could see how we could be used. I still see that as an occult war, Hitler was doing some crazy stuff.
And then Dion comes along and pushes his forces back.
What can we do in this world?

A purpose implies that there's a goal in mind, and an agenda to be fulfilled, but being that some philosophical meandering results in the conclusion that everything can be viewed as either vastly significant or vastly insignificant depending on your frame of reference, your goal, agenda and therefore purpose are ultimately arbitrary.
I was actually thinking about this the other day, and I was using this thread to get a nice, formal philosophy out of it. =P
It's easy to say that, in comparison to WWII, we have less of a purpose, but only because that was a scenario were stakes were high, results were crucial, and personalities took on gravitas borrowed from the gravity of the situation. When you compare it to your daily life, of course daily life will dull in comparison. It doesn't mean it's less important, though.
My arbitrarily-defined-purpose is that I'm here to study the bits of the occult that interest me. Asking "to what end?" opens up an infinitely recursive loop, since you could ask "to what end?" about each end, until the interrogated get tired and answer with "just because". So, I'll skip the malarky and say, "just because".

XD I see. Interesting answer.
I suppose we are here to help those that fear the darker aspects of the occult. We can help them in their time of need.
I was watching Practical Magic this morning and there was a woman who asked for a love spell. Now, everyone on that island hates them, but asks them for favors.
It's a job isn't it?

our purpose is simple, to live our lives and try to make this world better and to bring the attention of the world to our exisitance because i have this sence its time. human beings are finally learning about the natural flow of energy that psychics have known all along. we have to move past attacking out of fear and try and undersatnd people before we make our judgements. Our abilities hoe differant they might be span all ethincties, all countries, all languages and all cultures. So i feel that this is probly what will connect the world and help the world develop a global culture.
