There's something wrong with the overall composition of the face and the placement of the shoulder, but I can't pinpoint it exactly. Help?

Yeah its a bit of a puzzle. I think it might be the torso, to be honest I dont really know what kind of pose youre aiming for.
Try flipping it, it sometimes can point you in the right direction.

I think it simply may not be round enough, if that makes sense? From what i can make sense of the pose, I think we'd be seeing more of where it flows into the curve of the back...

i agree with mixik, i think. but yea this is defiantly a leaning back pose and it isn't really reflected in the back

Not anatomically correct, but I think this may be part of the problem.

Face - You establish a very strong sense of direction and perspective with that headpiece. Your face not only doesn't follow it, but the features all sit in different perspectives.

Shoulder - You'll have to tell me what you're going for before I can be certain, but if she's leaning back, her shoulder should move back and not up. When I push out my chest, I feel my shoulder blades rotate inwards toward my spine a little. That pulls my shoulders back. I think you may have to choose either back or up. But not both.

Hope that helps a little. (Also, if you would make a thread about speedpainting or just starting a digital painting in general in the main forum, that would be great. I would love to learn. I don't even know where to start!)

She was *supposed* to be doing a shrugging-shoulders sort of pose. But it was obviously sort of ambiguous.
Thank you for the face suggestions, it's easy to see where I went wrong now.
I'll post an updated wip soon.

Errol: haha, I don't think I'm good enough at digital painting at this point to be able to teach anybody orz

You know more than I do. That qualifies you to share what you know with me. Hehe. Sounds like teacher to me. xP
