Deathly Darling

It wasn't safe in the park. There were puddles full of germs and sharp rocks and mosquitos, but the real danger, the most tangible, present risk was a husky boy armed with a soccer ball and a dragon, as Kotatsu Dayle was painfully finding out. She had thought that in the park Arith could do less damage than in her house, and it was probably true as nothing glass had broken yet, but even in the open air he was energetic and wildly unpredictable, and the results were somewhat disastrous.

"Sorry!" he called cheerfully in a blissful and not-quite-convincing way. "Sorry, Kotatsu!"

She rubbed the spot the soccer ball had hit after an overexcited, poorly planned kick and nodded grimly. "It's okay, keep playing!" She just hoped that Konig could aim better. Arith was dynamite with a soccer ball, but she was pretty sure a dragon, no matter how lazy, could shoot even harder.

Despite head injuries though, the game at least had a semblance of order. Arith had decided two goals and a play area which made it less like a brutal beatdown on his favourite soccer ball and more like some sort of actual sporting event, however impromptu it was. It was better than nothing, and better than House Soccer, which usually resulted in the need to buy more plasticware instead of glassware and wear thick socks until the mess was cleaned up. In the park, all it really needed was more players.

Sad to say but the mole boy looked rather pathetically adorable in his current summer outfit, bare feet were slipped into flip-flops, and his body was pressed in a blue t-shirt and shorts, the T-shirt at least two sizes to big almost coving the later and to top it off a broad rimmed straw-hat and a dot of sunscreen on the pinkish nose which along with the large hands and feet where the only skin truly exposed to the beat of the sun, And there was a scowl on his features, twisted to show his displeasure at the sun, reaching up and pulling the hat down more firmly over his head of purple locks.

The mole boy was not one for active excretions, especially in the punishing heat. And when he caught sight of the other boy, so clearly of D-corps genetic tampering he shuffled behind his mother and tried to turn away, his mother always tried to make him interact with the other children and true to form today would be no different. “Oh look Tarrie it’s another D-corp child want to go and play Sweetie?”

Taren scowled and just pulled his hat further down over the thick glasses to hide the world from view, the too big too scary world. He was just in a bad mood because being a creature of the underground the sun was not a welcome friend. Watching the floor so that he didn’t trip he followed behind his mother as she waved softly to the other D-corp guardian, and started to walk over to join her Taren trailing behind as she smiled at the Husky. “you look like you have your hands full.” she commented Sympathetically in way of greeting. “Names Sil, another Guardian of D-corp.” she introduced with a flourish before producing a pack of cancer sticks and lighter from her pocket, another good thing about the park, outside she didn’t have to worry about her bad habit,
