Personally, I think using spore is an interesting way to conceptualize and invent non-humanoid creatures. its very, very hard to imagine it on your own. I mean, we have two arms, two legs. When we think about it, its hard to imagine sentience coming in a package other than that.
but with spore... Well... twolegged, four footed, double-mouthed carnivores with cephalation, 3-dimensional vision (cant remember the scientific term for it), paw-like hands with only two digits, and a very religious and environmental view of the universe are just one of many.

So what do you guys think about that?

Part of what I love about Spore is creating weird beings. I'm sure it could help to visualise concepts.

Definitely. However, the limited and decidedly earthlike body parts can be such a drag sometimes. I've recreated the Keeper models a few times and they look far different than what's in my mind. They're SUPPOSED to look pretty ugly, but not... different :O

Yeah... It's a bit too cutified. And I have yet to manage to put limbs somewhere else than on the body. Why not arms with legs on them? Or something... Legs with a second set of legs connecting to one of the joints. Might make moving around a bit awkward...

Thats not too hard.

In fact, I've done it.

using Alt, I think, you can copy a part of the leg and drag it around and then, using control, you can attach it to whatever available part you can find, including joints.

I made something with two legs but four feet, because its middle joint split into two.

I've probably made arms with legs on them...

and yes. it is a bit too cutified.
but it helps to get a concept into some sort of physical form, particularly one that is hard to draw.
i only wish they would automatically upload the expansions instead of leeching money from us.

and when you play them from the cell stage... things happen, and the creatures don't turn out as expected.

Yeah. it's a shame about the Cute & Scary Pack costing moneys, but it is a pretty good set to make some not-so cute spore creatures. As for the leg splitting, yeah, I've done that. You can also do stuff like a center, singular leg, but have it split halfway down to mount 2 feet on, or maybe something more like one of those octopus sucker feets might look better. But yeah, you can make some pretty weird stuff spore, if you want to just use it to help 'prototype' some aliens for the guild.
