ok just an idea , post any recipes that don't harm our animal friends here.
Sorry am a useless cook but have a few I know for a fact work.

Cheatballs

Needs
2 cups of oats
about half a pepper (optional)
about half an onion
yeast extract
a bowl deep enough to contain that lot.
a wok or frying pan
deep fryer and oil or for those with a healthier desire a baking tray and about a teaspoonful of oil to grease the tin
Black peppercorns (optional)
Step 1
Chuck your oats in a bowl add enough water to wet it but keep it together in a shape preheat oven to about 200 if you're baking them
Step 2. cook up your peppers (shallow fry) and caramelise your onions in the wok add them to the porridge mix, add in yeast extract to taste and your pepper )(preferably fresh ground)mix well then shape them into balls (not too big or they won't get the right texture ) grease baking tin and put in oven leave for about 10 minutes or till they're all nice and solid outside. If using a fryer just fry till they're done and treat like any other fried food.
Step 3. eat.

Hummous with caramelised onions.
Needs
about 2 cupfulls of soaked chickpeas (or if easier to acquire 2 tins)
1 teaspoon of tahini.
juice of 1 lemon (lime works too)
half to a full onion
half a pepper (again optional)
a couple of cloves of garlic (beware of overkill)
something to fry up the peppers and onions in
a bowl
stick blender or something else you can use to smoosh your ingredients

Step 1
caramelise your onions add peppers chopped up well when you judge the time is right (some people don't like the peppers as well done as their onions as a lil crunch can REALLY add texture to this) chuck in garlic right at the last second leave to 1 side while preparing the rest
step 2.
put your chick peas in the bowl add the lemon /lime juice and the tahini grab your mashing/blending tool of choice and smoosh the ingredients together squidge the chick peas well.
step 3.
take the stuff you fried earlier in this recipe and throw it all in the bowl, add in your peppers and mash a lil more.
step 4. take out of the bowl and enjoy.

I found a book of recipes for birds a few days ago. It has some pretty interesting things in it. The book is called 'My Recipes are for the Birds"

"Backyard Breakfast"

2 1/2 Cups rendered beef suet
1 Cup Grapenuts
1 Cup Raisin Bran
1 Cup Puffed Wheat
1/2 Tsp Sand

Render the Suet. Put Grapenuts, Raisin Bran, and Puffed Wheat into an 8" X 8" pan and sprinkle with sand. Pour the rendered suet over dry ingredients. Refrigerate till firm. Cut into squares and place on feeder tray or on the ground.

"Cheep Cheep Cornbread"

1 Cup Yellow Cornmeal
1/2 Cup Crackled Corn
1 Ground Eggshell
1 Cup Flour
4 Tsp Baking Powder
1 Cup Milk
1 Egg, Beaten
1/4 Cup Bacon Drippings

Heat Oven to 400 degrees F. Combined dry ingredients. Add Milk, eggs, and bacon drippings. Mix with a spoon and pour into 8" X 8" pan. Bake 20-25 minutes. When cool, cut into cubes and serve on feeder tray or ground.
