User ImageAt that very moment, one of them just stood there, too shocked to move, the other mere few steps away from him, while the rest of them only just entered the room, his arms raised, the swordtip pointed towards the other's heart...
...and she still couldn't choose.
She didn't have even a second to react. And her mind, her sharp thinking and wit, were, as if in spite, all blank.
But she couldn't just stand and watch it.
Her one love killing the other.
So she did the only thing she knew would work without hurting either. She just jumped between them. And the sword meant to pierce his heart, pierced hers instead.
She felt the life dripping out of her quickly, too quickly, saw his eyes staring at her in shock and disbelief, at the other end of the sword... Her hand raised slowly, slowly, wanting to touch his cheek...
I'm dying.
And I didn't accomplish even a single thing I wanted to do with my life.
For the first time in her life, she wanted to cry from the bottom of her heart.
But she saw his hurt, disbelieving eyes, and knew that if she cried right now, he would never be able to forgive himself.
So instead, she smiled.
"...what are you looking at, Crossy?" she said quietly, grasping for air with more and more difficulty, and yet with a mischievous smirk on her face. "...smile. The world isn't ending."
...I don't even know what I am yet...
And then she died.

Next thing she remembered was a sharp pain, and the fog that was covering her eyes suddenly disappeared.
She wasn't in the Castle anymore, that's for sure.
The place... It kinda resembled her the Earth Beneath, but at the same time, it was different. She could clearly see she wasn't in Celesti anymore, with the stars and the moon being the only things in the sky... And the constellations were completely wrong. Even her Chamaeleon wasn't where it should be.
Where is His Highness? And where is Crux? What happened after...after he stabbed her?
Was it all a dream? Or is this a dream?
She looked around slowly, having the Celestial habit of looking at the sky first, and ground second, and her shock grew even bigger.
In her home, there were a few different races. And some were completely different, taking herself for example. But here...
Almost each person looked like he or she came from a different world. Horns, tails, wings, they had everything, in every possible combination. And their style of clothing, how very unique...
...no matter how or why she arrived here, Camelion already knew she's going to like this place.

Pushing away the memories of the two men, the sword, and the pain she felt just moments ago (could it be that I'm in Heaven? The religious one, I mean? It's a pretty f*cked up Heaven then, if I dare say), she was already thinking about a plan to get herself a place to stay in at least for a while. The girl decided that the most important thing would be to gather some info about this place. And a set of this kingdom's rules, that's always good. She was pretty confident that she could get away from any trouble, but why make yourself unnecessary enemies?
And the big letters forming 'Library' on the building just in front of her were a pretty promising beginning.
She opened the door quietly, and peeked inside, looking around but not walking in just yet. Huge amounts of books knew how to be intimidating.

"I... really don't what to do with you." The librarian muttered under his breath as he carefully watched a young boy with a curious horn on his forehead flip curiously through the pages of a book.

The man sat there quietly, his gaze fixed on the boy with an unopened book on his lap. He sighed. Yet another book character this week, they seemed to be appearing a bit too often lately. It might have been because of the lack of visitors. Didn't it already have enough with all the children wreaking havoc in the organized library? he already had other characters running about, climbing bookshelves and god knows what.

He groaned.

He loved kids, he really did but he didn't know who to take care of them. Sure, he knew all the info, but it was impossible for him.

Praying silently, he hoped someone would waltz in with the right character for raising a child. He had already found wonderful candidates, it wasn't easy that, he always needed to make sure he wasn't giving children to people with murderous tendencies.

Then he heard the click of the door. He wasn't sure if someone walked in, despite him being right behind the front desk, but that area was the only place that wasn't completely in order. He tended to take tons of books at once and leave them at his desk till he read through all of them. As a result, they completely towered of him, blocking the front and whoever was behind the desk, from view.

He stood up and shifted around the stack and took notice of a curious looking woman. He raised an eyebrow and studied her for a moment before moving into full view "May I help you?"

User Image ...for a library, there was quite a lot of kids running around and being wild; that was the first thing she noticed about this place.
Second one was, it reeked of magic. The owner of this place could try to camouflage it at least a bit better. Unless ofcourse in this place being magical was a good thing. Which, she thought while remembering the unusual crowd outside, might just be the thing.

When she heard the voice calling her, she once again took the wide smile on her face, and confidently walked inside, while growing the tips of her hair just a bit longer.
The gown she was wearing was her casual green one, showing just enough to catch a male eye, without actually revealing too much. With the heart-shaped cleavage and the usual white camellia flower in her hair she felt confident. Just like she always was. Almost enough to make her forget what just happened.
She fixed her hair slowly with her fingers, more to present her mood than actually do something for the hairdo, and anwsered the white-haired man,who most probably was a librarian here. And who seemed to be in charge of all those kids.
"I hope I'm not interrupting?" She said sweetly. "I'm just in need of some information, and books were always good for that. I'm afraid, I'm not exactly sure where I am." The girl tugged her hair slowly "And I don't mean the name of the street."

With the sound of his voice asking the question to the stranger, the children came to a halt and began to shuffle behind the nearest bookshelves, peaking over them to see who the newcomer might be. Ink glanced behind me and he chuckled softly before looking back at the woman who seemed a bit distracted with fixing herself up. Ink, however, took little notice on appearance. Bright as he was, the only thing he managed to note was that she was clearly not human and was rather good-looking.

He wasn't the type to ogle.

Ink smiled politely at her and shook his head "Not at all, there isn't really anything going on to be interrupted. If you're looking for information, than this would be the place to be." He replied "Though, I'm afraid you'll have to be a bit more specific of 'where' you came from. I'm afraid the doors never show in the same place, so you'll have to describe the area in which you saw this library in."

User Image "Oh." She said. Oh. So she was right, and it was supposed to be quite magical indeed. She looked at the now hidden children, sending them some warm smiles. Cute little things. Made her remember that part of her past which she didn't think about too often.

"The 'where' might be a bit of a problem, though." Camelion shrugged, closed the door behind herself and walked a bit deeper inside. I guess if the place's best pals with magic, then she doesn't need to lie. Too much. "I was there only for about a minute or something. And I'm not sure if I should return to the place I was in before so fast." The girl closed her eyes, thinking, trying to remember as many details as she could. After a moment, she opened them again. "The people were somewhat like this..." She started, smoothly changing her shape into the woman with long, black horns, and hair made of running water, only to moment later change into that boy with brown eyes and a silvery halo...and a few more weirder people she managed to see so far. In the end, she returned to her form from before, though holding a wide scroll this time. "I'm not really sure what they were. Buildings, I didn't look at too much. But the sky looked like this." She unwinded the scroll, showing it to the man - a perfect picture of the star placement from the place where she stood.
Buildings could change. But stars are important.

"Ah." Ink had said, watching in mild amusement as she changed forms. He had read about her type before, it was in one of the books in the pile about his desk, if he could recall...

"I know what you're looking for, then." He stated before turning around heading down one of the aisles "This way, we have a ways to go to reach it. It's somewhere in the second floor.... amongst the back books." He said, his voice slowly trailing off as he began to become lost in thought. the only thing he really noticed was the sudden pull as the silver-haired boy with the horn grab onto him nervously. Clearly he didn't want to be alone.

Ink smiled softly and pat him on the head before taking hold of his hand gently "The world you came from is called 'Gaia'. A strange world indeed, everyone seems to be of some sort of a mysterious ethnicity that can never be classified. At least, most cannot. They have some 'Humans' and 'Vampires', along with a variety of 'Elves' and 'Imps'. Then again, even their 'Humans' the supposedly normal ones of the batch are rather peculiar." He explained, rambling really, as he began to ascen a long flight of stairs.

He picked up the young boy, who was obviously reluctant to climb all the way, letting him sit on his arm as he carried him up. "Be careful to stay close, it's easy to get lost in here."

User Image "Gaia, is it?" She noted on the name, and began to follow the librarian deeper into the building. "Yes, I noticed they all look kinda weird and crazy. Just what would make people of the same race look so...so..." For a moment, she browsed her mind for the least insulting word "...different?"

That's something that she really wanted to know. Because yes, the place seemed amusing and interesting, and perfect for her temporary stay, but if whatever-it-was was going to somehow influence her own body, then she wasn't going to stay there for even a second longer.

The stairs were long, but not long enough to make her think of it as a bother. She nodded on the advice, and continued climbing behind him, finally deciding to ask the questions that bothered her from the beginning. "Just what in the world is this place? And why is it full of little kids? From what I noticed so far, usually librarians don't really like those between their precious shelves."
PostPosted: Sun Jul 05, 2009 10:53 am

"Magic and mechanics." Ink replied simply "It's a rather complicated system, really and most of it fashion rather than anything. To sum Gaia up in rather simple terms, it would be the 'Fashion world' since everyone there likes nothing more than dressing up."

Taking the last step up the stair case, he set down the horned child beside him and gave a smile at him and a few other children who were peeking over balconies and other shelves. One boy with cat ears mewled curiously.

"Yes, it does seem strange but as of late, this place has become more of an orphanage than an actual library." He began, making his way down a seemingly never-ending aisle of books "These children are called, including this one, are all book characters. They were previously existing personas in stories that began to appear in this world. The library was getting lonely and they are, well, one of it's mischievous creations."

Continuing further down, he finally came to a stop in front of a large book case. Reaching forward without a second thought, he pulled out a large book, then another and then another. "You'll only need these three, they should tell you very well what you need to know. Please, feel free to take your time reading the books." He said, handing them over to her.

User Image "...a world of fashion..." The girl smiled, a content smile slowly appearing on her face. "...yes, I think I could live with that..."
She kept following the librarian to whatever he was taking her, and noticed that the stairs finally came to an end. She waited there since the man stopped, though it was only to take off one of the children off him. Curious little thing, had a small horn on his forehead, just like MichaiƂ did...

She looked at him standing there, till the boy finally noticed her gaze...and quickly turned away his head just when she was going to say something. What a cute little thing!
And yet, what this man was saying about these kids... Even for her it sounded quite surreal. Characters from books? That means they're fiction, doesn't it? They never really existed, so how dod they do it now? "...where on Earth did you get a library that produces kids out of paper?"
Only after she spurted her question she realized who aside of the librarian was listening. "Sorry, kiddo." Camelion quickly placed her hand on the kid's head and cuddled him, not stopping her smile even when he moved away. "Hey, I'm not going to bite you!"
She closed her hand for a moment, and when she opened it again, there were few pieces of candy on it. The girl moved it a bit towards the boy, waiting to see if he'll take it.

When they finally moved along and reached their destination, Camelion was already quite impressed. Even the library in the castle didn't have as many books as this one. It would seem that you could find any book you need in here...which seemed to be the truth, since moments later the librarian handed her some about that Gaia-world. "Thanks." She sent him a smile "I could really use that. Do you have some sort of a reading room or something in here?"
PostPosted: Sun Jul 05, 2009 6:10 pm

Ink laughed softly as he watched the interaction between the woman and the young boy who seemed more than just a bit wary of her. The boy slowly approached her and gratefully took the candy she offered. It wasn't much of a surprise, after all children loved candy.

"The characters more or less 'come alive' then are made out of paper. They exist and function like any regular person but they are originally from the words of the book. Basically sort of like, moving from one world to the next, moving onto another story." He explained before gesturing further down the hallway "There is a room down this way, at the end of the aisle. Feel free to read there."

Then a tug. He looked down at the boy who looked as if he had something to say. Curious, he bent down only to have him whisper in his ear. He stood up on more and gestured to the young boy "He says he'd like to go with you. You wouldn't mind taking him along with you for a bit?"
