So I'm in the middle of my story and my two characters broke up because they were 'too much in love.' As in they thought and considered the other so much that they forgot their own well being and thus the relationship was pretty poisonous on both ends.
What I'm looking for is an emergency situation that you wouldn't tell your lover about because you didn't want them to be worried sick if it ended up being nothing. (It eventually is going to be 'the straw that broke the camels back' and the final thing to push their relationship into a break up)
I don't want any illness or emergency that would be long term or something that they'd have known about too far in advance. Sort of like a 'show up to the doctors because something feels fishy and then realize the severity and have to have immediate action take place.' The emergency situation would concern a man, Gabriel, who is 25 and his lover who is 26.
I thought about an Appendicitis attack (something that would come on quick and you wouldn't maybe want to warn your lover of until everything's fine again) but I'd like a couple more options. Suggestions, please?
My goodness all this criteria must sound vague and complicated. Sorry!
[This would be the excerpt that would go along with it. It's in rough draft form. Forgive me]
"I didn't tell you because I didn't want you to worry if it was nothing."
"You can't do that to me!"
"I didn't want you hurt," Gabriel reasoned
"You're a part of me!" Alexandra cried. She was shaking and so far past infuriated and scared that she could hardly control her voice from shaking, too. "Everything that hurts you should hurt me. You can't cut me out like that when we're together; I won't let you."
Thanks for your replies!
