YAWN
A prolonged yawn was the way for a young girl to re-enter the world after a long nights rest. The sun was shining through the window directly in her eyes, even through the warming cover that lay over her body and face. The girl stretched out her legs and arms, acknowledging her bodies request to get up. Sitting up, with her blanket still covering part of her face, started to slip of...
Revealing the young eyes of Rikku Katsuya.
The young girl slowly rubbed the crust from the corners of her eyes, procrastinating the fateful moment she would have to leave her bed. She was a master at taking her time. Judging on the placement of the sun in the sky, she figured it was roughly 10 o' clock in the morning. Not too bad.
Taking the blanket off of her body, she placed her fare feet onto the ground. Taking a moment to stretch her arms once again and yawn for the 1000th time, she gazed at the sheathed blade that lay by the night table in her room. Seeing it reminded her of two very important people. They weren't with her physically, but she knew they would always be in her heart.
"Alright, enough slacking off," she stated to herself.
Now standing, she looked around her room for clothes to put on. ------------------------------------------------------------------ As the sound of slow steps on the wooden stairs became louder, Rikkus shadow glided against the wall from upstairs. The top floor was surprisingly more bright than the main floor. As she reached the final step, she gazed about in the bar.
"Sure is empty, now." A small reminisance of life over the last couple of months came to mind. The brother-sister bickering between Sach and Issac. The lectures from Raine. The strong spirit of Naru.
And Joseph. She had finally just met her brother for the first time and he was gone. The only other person she considered close was Cassandra, another newcomer to the bar. She too left when Joseph did. Rikku wondered just what they were up to.
Wearing black bagged sweat pants and white tank top, she took the sweater she was wearing off and wrapped the arms around her waist. Her dull pink coloured air slightly covered part of her left eye. It was starting to get long again. It was quite evident that she dyed her air and not just for the obvious reason - that pink is not a natural hair colour.
Her roots were growing in. A bright bleach blonde colour extended about 4 or 5 inches from her roots. Displeased with the true colour of her hair, she used a black clothe to cover it, by wearing it as a bandana. Everyone else seemed to like it, but not her.
Too many bad memories attached.
Rikku gazed around the bar and wondered where you two remaining comrades had gone. Neither of them were in their bedrooms, which meant they were up aswell. Rikku quickly scanned the building and found no one.
"Diablo must be on another walk-about. Who even knows where that brat Issac is." Continuing to theorize the events of the morning (before she woke up) she slowly preped a bite to eat

A sleepless night, something that had become a normal occurrence for the man leaning on the tree staring out into the world, finally some peace had found the weary avenger. It was a simple pleasure to watch the sun rise, and while it had risen long ago, the Elfling took more time just to escape from the world he had plunged himself into.
Finally after a few minutes of just listening to the world around him, he pushed himself off the tree. He felt lighter now than he had for years, after his previous battles his burden of revenge was starting to ease on him. A small smile crept to his lips, it oozed with malicious intent as his mind revisited the last battle he was in, the pleasure he felt as his blade plunged into Curio wounding him. It was not fatal, but it was enough to cause him to slither off into the darkness. The blood that spilled, and the pain that he felt was a small taste of what he would feel when he finally had no where else to run. Vengence, while the need had lessened, there was still a need for it.
Diablo's attention had been stolen away from his dark thoughts, by a rustling of leaves, his eyes falling on a lone white rabbit rushing back into a bush. His mind turned back to his previous mind set, and while looking back he felt troubled by this. Was he once again letting himself slip into darkness? Surely the losses he felt were taking their toll on him. His former lover had deserted him, and was rumored to be aligned with "the other side", working for them all along, the one person he had trusted in this fight above all else had once again disappeared to his own devices, and now these murderous urges were returning. What was to happen if he allowed himself to sink?
Finally pushing the thoughts away, the Elf decided it was not of much use to dwell on it and made his way towards the sheltered he had sought out with his new companion. HJis thoughts now turned to her, a young lady whom he had helped to liberate from the manipulations of that snake.
His hand came to a rest upon the door, the palm of his hand pushed up against the slightly damp door. He had not been carrying his sword with him at all during his guard duty. He pushed the door open slowly with a creaking sound as the hinges rubbed together. The darkness inside welcomed him as he slipped in and shut the door behind him, as he made his way inside. and took a seat and leaned back in the chair closing his eyes.

Rikku snapped her fingers. If life were a cartoon, a shiney bright lightbulb would have been floating just above her head. She quickly made her way across the bar floor, following the corridor to the back of the building. More or less, towards the kitchen. Rounding through the twisted corner of the odd architecture, she stepped into the kitchen.
Her heart stopped as she crossed the threshold. She hadn't stepped foot into this room since the day Diablo told Joseph about their blood relation. She had made it a trend to try to avoid the kitchen. At all costs. Seems her mind was a bit clouded this morning.
As the invisible images in of her past played out in her mind, she didn't even notice the body in the corner of the room, watching her every move. Rikku closed her eyes and made her way silently over to the kitchen sink. Making the gesture that she may be sick, a peacful voice interupted her inner turmoil.
"It still bothers you, doesn't it, child?"
Rikku slowly turned back. Gazing into the beautiful blue elfen eyes, she nodded. Naru, the eldest elf still alive, looked down at the young girl through the flowing strands of golden blonde hair. She gave a brief heartwarming smile. "It's okay. I know it's hard to understand now, but he left for his own reasons. Not because of you."
"I know.." she replied softly. She missed her brother dearly. They had finally just came to terms with eachother, after having such a rough (and bloodied) family history. And then he left.
Naru had a way with the emotions of others. Just like her powers to change her bodys cellular structure, she had a way to make others hearts melt. Naru pulled Rikku in for a brief comforting hug. Placing her right hand on the back of the teens head, she assured Rikku "Joseph has been through a lot. This is his way of coping, like he always has."
"I was just thinking about that day."
Naru let go. "It is hard, I know. It seems as though you've been avoiding the truth, true?"
"Aye." Clearly, Rikku had been around a certain elf a little too long.
Naru simply smiled. Patting Rikku on the head, she simply said "Embrace it," as she left Rikku to her own thoughts. Rikku pondered that for a second. Going back to the cartoon world, a series of question marks would have popped up over the poor confused girls head. At which point, they'd all fall on and crush her.
She desided to put her thoughts to the side for now and maybe pick them up some other time. She walked over to the stove and turned on one of the burners. Putting a frying pan over the open flame and spraying it with an oily supstance from a container that read 'PAM'. She poked her head into the nearby fridge, contemplating on what would be on the menu this morning. She finally nodded to herself and pulled out a container of eggs. crack! One egg. crack crack! Two egg. Three egg. -------------------------------------- A few cracks and sizzles later, she had a plate full of about a dozen eggs. Counting the mouths to feed in the bar... Naru, Raine, Issac, Diablo and herself... That meant 2 eggs for each person and 2 lucky people got 1 extra.
Or one greedy person got 2 extra...
She heard the sound of the front door of the bar closing. Considering she heard Naru head back upstairs and there was no loud mouthing from either Issac or Raine, she assumed it was Diablo returning. She removed the apron from around herself, turned off the stove and picked up the plate full of eggs.
Rikku made her way out to the main room, where she discovered her deduction of the bars occupant to be correct. Diablo occupied one of the many empty tables, silently in thought. She smiled appreciatively to herself. Walking over to his table, she gave a bright "Good morning" to her elfen elder and gently placed the plate infront of him.
"I hope you're hungry."

Elsewhere, deep in the deep woods that Rikku and Diablo, leaders of the Assassin Outpost called their home, an unfamiliar silhouette was wandering uninvited. The shadow weaved between trees, in and out, as it raced across the semi-jagged land. The assailant travelled at a high rate of speed, almost blurred to the naked human eye.
The figure stopped. Appearing about 6'5" tall, the slim figure of a man gazed up at the edge of the cliff wall blocking his path. The man wore what looked like a hybrid between a cloak and a stylish jacket. The hood covering his head flowed loosely around his slender face. The silver rimmed frames held deep blue tinted lenses, which shone furiously in the daylight.
The glare off the sunglasses gave his location away, unbeknownst to him. The man looked up at the stone wall obscuring his path. "Hmph, child’s play," the man proclaimed in a deep voice. He took two steps forward and gently raised his right hand. He carefully brushed his finger tips gently against the granite monster that stood before him. He could hear the earth beast taunting him, challenging him in every way.
The man quickly jerked back. Jumping so that he was about 10 feet away from the wall, he reached back, beneath his semi cloak. A quick pull, followed by the sweet satisfying shing of steel, he unsheathed two sharp blades, and swung them forward in an x formation. Spreading both arms and taking a deep breath, he quickly and concisely attached the thing steel wires to his cuffs, one end attached to his back and the other, to the hilt of both short weapons.
After a deep breathe a brief murmur to himself in a forgotten language, he lunged toward the wall. With the tap of his right foot, his lunge changed angle by about 30 degrees vertically. With a sleight of hand, one of the two blades shot towards and impaled the rocky wall. Out of his left hand, the second blade shot in the opposite direction, guided by his arm. By the time his foot landed on the hilt of the first blade, the second one circled up and jabbed violently into the wall a few feet above him.
He very gracefully (and very quickly)leapt off the first blade, landing on the second. Just like the first time, he jerked her arm back, arching the blade out of the wall, and guided by the steel cable upwards and circling into the wall, several feet above. Hopping back and forth, standing on his clever weapon-ladder-staircase, he continued his ascension up the cliffside.
Both blades together, simultaneously climbed over the wall and stabbed into the soft soil on the stop of the cliff. The steel cables followed the owner in to the air and eventually drooped as the man back flipped several feet above the cliffs edge and landed in between both of his blades. He chuckled playfully to himself and he slowly stood up. Always a game to him. At least until the point of steel pressed against his jugular.
His heart almost skipped a beat as the assailant from behind silently threatened his life. "Reach for the sky, partner!" the familiar voice joked from behind. A sigh of relief escaped the first mans lips as the small dagger was retracted and found itself back in its leather home.
"Urra, you fool! Don't scare me like that!" the tall man scolded his younger counterpart.
Urra simply smiled. His face was mostly covered by his colourless bangs. He closed his eyes momentarily as he let out a howl of laughter. As if this was the first joke he'd ever heard, even tears began to form at the corner of his eyes. "Good God, Steele! What's up with you?"
"You caught me off guard. That's all."
"Off guard? You nearly had a heart attack!"
"If you were an enemy, I could have taken you down in no time.
"A challenge I'd like to meet one day," Urra said with pride. Steele was family, and though only related because of their parents being siblings, he treated his cousin very much like his own brother.
"Well, I've found you at least," Steele interrupted another Urra daydream, likely about sparring
"Found me...? You mean Korrie's not with you?"
"Haven't seen her for a few hours, at least."
"s**t! We need to find her!" Urra said, with a sense of underlying urgency.
"Is everything alright, Urra?"
Urra had already begun to trek into the woods. "I'm not sure. I'm getting a weird vibe from this area. I think, maybe, just maybe.."
"You don't mean...?"
"Yes. An elf. Somewhere nearby. And I think your sister can sense him too."
"Do you think it's him?"
"The one we seek?" Urra paused, sniffing the air momentarily. His golden coloured eyes darted back and forth as he tried to collect his thoughts. "He's been here. I can smell it...
It may be dangerous here. We need to find Korrie. Now."

The forest beyond the bar in all directions held a playful, secretive spirit. The greenery beautifully contrasting with the grays and browns of the bark they grew from. Sunlight filtering through the tall canopy in streams to nourish even the smallest of plants that scattered about the bases of trees also lit the pale yellows and reds of leaves from last fall that still lay trapped here and there in patches of bramble. A distant dull knocking gives away a woodpecker working on finding food and perhaps even building a new home, otherwise the forest sounds are dampened with an almost eerie silence.
The building in question did not go without being scrutinized from afar. Slender fingers met rough bark as the young lady hid almost bashfully behind a thick tree. Deep emerald eyes lingering on the seemingly out of place establishment, questioned it skeptically but silently. Having moved ever so carefully closer to the place, Korrie caught movement in one of the windows and ducked behind the trunk out of view.
It was dangerous here, those elves in that building... at least one of them, would most definitely know the one they were searching for and quite well from what her senses were telling her. Where were the boys at a time like this? Delicately sniffing the aroma of the air painted her a picture of events since it last rained in an wide array of scents and smells.
The hairs on her arms and the back of her neck stood on end, having questioned herself a hundred times if she should go in and get a closer look or continue to wait for the boys to come looking for her, she was beginning to lean towards getting even closer with how long they were taking. Maybe even stepping in the bar and acting as a plain ol' traveler, would be enough to cover her reasons for being there. Although that option didn't sit well with her, people she didn't know in general were a bad idea to gravitate towards. Which was why it was taking her so long to move anywhere but inching closer from one tree to the next.
Peering around the edge of bark, and not seeing movement within for several minutes she once again moved closer. From her new hiding spot she could see the front entrance and it's pathway that led away from the place. Looking around carefully beyond wavy lengths of ebony locks pulled into into a loose braid, she decided to go in and investigate. Her brothers could catch up with her eventually. Besides, maybe she'd be able to get some water from these people. She was getting thirsty and the rumble of her stomach meant she was also becoming hungry.
Korrie decided to find out as much information on this lot as she could gather. Her forest green cloak pulled along behind her as she made her steady approach. Upon standing at the door step and failing to find a handle in which to pull she pushed the door instead. At first not nearly strong enough, the door didn't budge at all. With a slight frown, she ebbed her weight into it and slowly the door gave in, creaking on its hinges and opened.
'That.... was creepy. So it wasn't locked at least...' she thought, slipping inside. The door creaked closed behind her, and now she was in the den of the lion... so to speak. Her eyes glanced about, getting her bearings and spying on the elven man lounging in a chair at a table before flitting over to the woman almost warily....
...would they instantly know? Should she turn and flee?

Steps upon the floor gave away another presence in the room paired with a pleasant aroma, slowly Diablo's eyes opened to be greeted with a familiar face, and welcoming words. A smile broke across his face, and he replied to the girl with an equally warm, "And a good morning to you as well."
So much as of late had changed, and for once he did not have a care in the world outside of these moments. He glanced at the plate in front of him and back to the girl, playfully he taunted her, "I see we were keeping ourselves busy. It looks quite edible."
A creaking sound of the door opening issued through the building, he shifted in his chair to look to the door, but it had already closed and a woman had entered. Curiously he stared at her, unsure as to what this person was doing out in the middle of no where. He stood up from the chair and made his way over to her, and stopped a few feet away from her, his eyes moving up and down her form trying to figure out what in the world she was here for.
Pushing any suspicion from his mind he then smiled, and said as welcomingly as possible, "Welcome to my... Abode. It's not much anymore, but you are welcome to stay at the once great Darkfire Tavern, Traveler." He looked at Rikku, and then the food, "Give her my portion if you will, if she is in seek of food."
(I am quite sorry about how long this took, I've been a battling a bout of being busy and motivation again. Next time you can give me a kick in the backside and tell me to hurry up and post and keep badgering me. I am sure the Creep over there will be more than happy to have an assistant.)

There was not one moment in which those emeralds left the man that approached, she half didn't expect him to be curious enough to answer the door himself. This place had looked like a business of sorts when she let herself in, so she didn't feel like she just walked into someone's house exactly... it was probably the reason her brow was slightly arched in mild annoyance, he had some nerve looking her up and down the way he did. Even if this was the man that she sensed something different about. That brow of hers fell when he welcomed her to his 'abode.' Well.. no wonder she got that look then, anyone would look strangely on a person who was intruding in their home... all of a sudden she was second guessing her judgmental abilities until he mentioned that this place was in fact a Tavern that she could stay at and rushed into offering her food, his portion even. Did she really look that starved and scrawny again? Tsk. Even though she was hungry, Korrie swallowed and then spoke a little quietly but also, a little on the rough side for wanting a drink,
"Thank you Sir, for your kind offer. I am merely passing by and.. was a feeling a little parched. I don't even have two copper to rub together on me, I couldn't afford a meal, let alone stay... but I came in hoping for just a cup of water before I set off once again." she explained going along with the 'traveler' guise, after all her clothes did look well worn. "I must've taken a wrong turn somewhere..." just then her stomach gave her away and rumbled its displeasure of being so empty. Of all the times! "It really does smell delicious in here... but.." she looked at her fidgeting fingers that fretted with the cuff of her sleeve, really she ought to be looking for Urra and Steele. "I really can't stay.." Perhaps that could be read easily enough from just looking at her. "And if I may.. may I use the restroom?" she added bringing her gaze back up once again.
((I apologize for the long wait, school has been hectic, seems we're both guilty xd ))

[[No worries, Kay. Just glad to have you back. :] ]]
Rikku eyed the door curiously as it creaked open and then closed, revealing a small dainty looking lass who closed it behind her. Diablo seemed to pay no mind to the girl and introduced himself kindly. Though she didn't look harmful, something about the girl didn't feel quite right. Was Rikku the only one who could sense this change?
Diablo had offered to give up his breakfast for the traveler, who refused at first. Her stomach would call her bluff. Rikku stared blankly at the girl for only a moment before Diablo turned and gave an expectant look in her direction. "Oh... er..." she muttered, snapping back to reality, "Well, actually. I seem to have made 2 eggs too many. Just enough for an extra mouth." How convenient; maybe a little too convenient. Yet another thing that left her with a slight uneasy feeling about the girls sudden appearance.
It seemed as though the lass was seeking the rest room. "It's up the stairs, furthest door on the left. Feel free..." she said, trailing off into her own inner monologue. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Else where, the elder brothers Urra and Steele were still on the search for their sister. Worry had began to come over Steele, but Urra knew better. Korrie was more than capable of taking car of herself. Out of the three of them, she held the greatest power; she just wasn't aware of it yet.
"Where you do you think she could be right now? Steele questioned.
"Gee, if I knew that, don't you think we'd have found her by now?" Urra replied.
"Well, obviously we don't know where she is. But I mean, where do you think she could be?" he asked again, putting emphasis on the mental game he was attempting to play to pass the time.
They had been searching for their dear sister since she vanished first thing in the morning. They awoke to find her bag packed and missing, along with her entire body.
Urra sighed. "I don't know, brother. I'm sure she's fine though." He addressed the undeniable worry that sat within his brothers mind.
"But how do you know?"
"I just do--"
" That's an assuring statement," he jokingly said, not realizing that Urra had actually cut off his own sentence. It took him a moment to notice that Urra had stopped and stared at the dead leaves on the ground, unfocused. "What?" he asked.
"Shh."
"Do you hear something?"
"Shhhh!
Steele waited in silence for a moment, listening also. Not hearing any thing, he nonchalantly commented on the situation. "I don't hear anything."
"Will you shut up for a second!" he snapped. "I think I sense something..."
"What is it?"
"I don't know... Seems like-" Urra took a couple of steps to his right and raised his hand outward, as if to feel around "- seems like there's something here. Some sort of... curtain."
Steele followed behind closely and raised an eyebrow. He opened his eyes and gazed around. "I think you're right. I'm seeing a large blanket of energy extending a fair distance around this area." Steele closed his eyes again, as he normally walked around without physically looking at anything. He could sense life of the earth around him and used that as a guide. His actual vision was worse. He saw energy in it's purest form - in light. It was so much simpler to walk around based on feeling alone, rather than seeing. He only used his sight when it was needed.
"That's what I thought." Urra approached the aura up until he was almost touching it. They both seemed to have the power to feel energy, but Urra's sense wasn't as concentrated. He felt more elemental energies than life force. Which would explain why he was feeling the 'curtain' around the tavern. It was their natural defense. A soul fire wall.
Urra took a deep breathe and stepped slowly into the curtain. Steele flinched, not sure if he should try to stop his brother or run the other direction. But Urra passed through the wall unscathed. "Oh my God..." he muttered once on the other side.
"What is it?"
"I found her. I can feel Korrie again."
"That's great!"
"But... that's not all I feel. I feel a terrible dark energy, with her..."
Steele crossed over the curtain also and gasped in shock. He took a step back, as if attempting to pin his back to the fire wall. He simply crossed it again, losing his focus on his sister. "I can't believe it..."
Urra reached for the sword attached to his belt while Steele grasped the hilt of his two trusty blades attached to his legs. Simultaneous, they both spoke their dark revelation aloud.
"Diablo Darkfire..."
