That morning things had gone normal. Beka had risen from her furs, and had gotten dressed in her normal slacks and tunic. She had washed her face, slapped some color into her cheeks, and brushed her red hair into some control before braiding it. She was out the door and into the heart of the weyr before a second thought could force it's self from her mind.
Beka had gone to the kitchen's, helped serve the others, and then taken breakfast with those of her age. It was during this time that she laughed and joked, and they did the same back. During it all, Beka had just smiled and taken all their jokes to heart. By the time she had felt enough of a sting, she had once again removed herself from the situation.
She had wandered for a bit, deep breathing and calming down. The red head could never figure out why exactly it always hurt so much when other people teased her. She had even teased herself to get others to smile! And yet that hurt too... A frown appeared on her lips as she turned the corner, but was soon replaced with a smile because there was someone else there.
An old timer had been looking for her apparently, and Beka's grin became true. He wanted some help with bathing his dragon. He was laid up because of an injury, and had no fire lizards. Others were helping fine but his blue wanted someone to really scrub his ridges. Beka perked up in an instant and ran to where the dragon was waiting.
In moments, she was there. Those green eyes looked up and took in the blue dragon, her heart fluttering from the sight. She calmly walked up and patted the dragon on the leg. He didn't speak to her, but was it even needed?
"I'll be right back, I promise. Let me go get some supplies, alright?"
She was running off again, around a corner. Which was when she ran smack dab straight into someone...

Astri had been running her own errands, running laundry back and forth. It was better than actually having to do the laundry. She didn't get wrinkled fingers this way, and at least she was getting some exercise running back and forth, and carrying heavy loads. It was a nice way to enjoy the weather, which didn't seem unbearably hot today, though it was sunny. Astri would probably burn, but that was nothing a bit of numbweed couldn't handle.
Unfortunately, her mad dashing was interrupted as a body slammed into hers, ruining her momentum and sending Astri crashing to the ground. Luckily, the laundry she was carrying had been dirty, so spilling it on the ground didn't make much of a difference one way or the other. And after a perfunctory examination, there were no major injuries. Time to look at what happened to whatever it was that had barreled into her.
It was another Candidate, a girl that Astri didn't know. She looked as if she had been in as much of a hurry as Astri had. They all had chores to do that had to be done RIGHT NOW THIS INSTANT, so it was understandable. Still, it had kind of hurt to hit the ground like that.
"Are you okay?" Wiping the sweat from the day from her eyes, Astri extended her hand, either to help the girl recover or to shake. Whatever she found most helpful.
"Got to be careful and watch where you're going. I'm Candidate Astri. Do you need help with anything?" Anything to trade off laundry for something else. "I just need to drop off this laundry and I'm free to help you with whatever, as long as it's more interesting."

Beka slammed into the other person and stumbled back to slam into the cavern wall. Her green eyes were a bit shocked, but she managed to get up on her own and shake the other girl's hand with a bit of a sheepish smile.
"I'm Candidate, weyr brat, whatever you want to call me Beka. And I'd like to think helping an old, injured rider scrub his dragon's back is more interesting than... laundry."
Beka scrunched her nose and smiled at the other female. She was always being friendly toward other people, even those she hadn't really known long. It was just in her personality.
"Let's drop off you load of laundry, grab the supplies, and head back!"
She was cheerful, and continued to grin ear to ear even as she spoke. The way Beka saw it, with two of them, the poor dragon would get an even better scrub than just with her alone! The taunts of the morning weren't forgotten, merely shoved back where she couldn't keep thinking about them.
