it's getting much too late in the bus back to the city.
the day is ending, ending dark, and maybe so are we.
but when the final summer ends....
if i could come back down to earth...
i would only live my life again, and what would that be worth?

What are your thoughts and experiences with them?

I personally have a very strong connection with a Deer guide. I always see them out in the wild, and I see them in dreams from time to time. Whenever I read the attributes of her as a totem animal, I think 'Hey, I want to be that'.

I've also heard that I might have a Bat guide too, but he isn't so present. Maybe later~

i could only kiss you once again...what would that be worth?

I haven't come to a solid conclusion, but my only experience shows me that my guide is avian in origin...long story short, it's a bird of some sort.

I had a meditation in which I saw a phoenix burning, yet was not harmed when engulfed in its flames...and the next day, I found myself losing track of time while staring eye to eye with a Peregrine Falcon. I don't know if that is still guiding me, but it was quite the experience.

I've seen the effects of several different animals on me; right now I can't say for sure which is predominant. Red-tailed hawk seems to show up a lot, as do crows. And when it comes to the influence of the men in my life, the key theme seems to be "big cats" (whether it's brother, father, boyfriend, etc). It's been suggested to me that there's also a Deer/Elk pattern I have going on, though whether it's meant to be some sort of polarity or partnership symbolism I can't fathom.

When I had a reading with an animal psychic named Mark Shaughnassy (sp?), he told me I had a very strong connection to the whale. When he described those attributes to me, they seemed almost a little far-fetched; I can't say I live up to them. sweatdrop

This summer, at least, I think a predominant pattern has been the fox. It's come up in several different forms in my life, though I can't say for certain if it's influence will continue or not. (I saw fox roadkill today, and I'm not sure what to make of that).

so would you rather date an elk or a cat? lol, OMG bad joke, sorry sweatdrop

totems are one of those things I get in dreams a lot (or I should say, have gotten several of in dreams). Not specifically *you are this totem*, but spirit guides that have kind of come in to say, hey, this is going on, please pay attention here, you know?

It's been a while since I've had such a dream, though.

As for specifics, I've dreamt of the mother wolf, and although I am a mother, I think it was symbolic of owning my dreams and abilities (not psychic, I just mean abilities in life) and living up to my own expectations, and protecting them. I've had a crow (are crows or ravens the ones with yellow beaks? I'm thinkin black beak...) to warn me of malicious people, or people taking advantage of me. A panther to help me understand my calling in the mysteries (women's mysteries, child birth, herbalism). Whale for wisdom (not saying, hey, you're wise, but rather saying to slow down, and stop trying to rapidly rationalize. Let the universe guide you, you KNOW *this*). Uuuuum... I have nasty spider dreams, but I think it has more to do with being scared of them (lol). Snakes, for fertility and overcoming fear... But like I said, none of them I felt really was like, *I* run with *this* totem, you know?

Oh, bumble bee to tell me to pay more attention to matters at hand and spend less time being depressed about matters out of my control smile freaky dream, to be honest 0_o;

I often dream of bees, foxes, mockingbirds and cats. So i'd have to think it was one of those. I have to say, I probably have most in common with the mockingbird. I tend to mimic speech pattens and little things people do unintentionally and from the reading I've done...you tend to have some quality of the guide animal.

I'm very wary of bees, so when they show up in my dreams I tend to stay away from them.

I think I agree with what you said about the whale as guidance; thinking about how a whale lives its life, that really makes a lot of sense. And definately the idea that one person is not one totem makes a lot of sense to me; though my large stuffed panda collection might suggest otherwise, I do not consider myself to be a "PANDA PERSON".

And, in response to your joke, I would say my boyfriend is more like an elk xd He definately likes cats a lot though, and can act like one in the strangest ways, although he usually attributes those traits to me; he considers me to be very similar to his cat Sugar, though usually he's kidding when he points out "similarities".

keep on playing our favorite song,
i turn it up while you're gone.
it's all i've got, when you're in my head...

I had a very strange dream within a dream last night that I was in a pool of water surrounded by snakes, and they were all attacking me and biting me, but it didn't hurt (even though they were pretty much....you know. biting me and stuff.) And then one of the other snakes told me not to be scared, because the snakes were healing me and allowing me to advance spiritually or something.

So....I suppose I have some snake guides too? sweatdrop

and you're in my head, so i need it.

I have heard taht people can have more than one animal totem and that they find you when you are ready you cant really search for them or anything. such as mine is a white wolf. and what kind of totems you get are usually based on your personality traits.

Snakes are often seen as symbolic of ancient wisdom, or wisdom from the Earth. In Greek myths, they're sometimes associated with prophecies--in one version of the myth of the fall of Troy, Cassandra received her prophetic abilities from temple snakes that licked her ears and eyes clean so that she could know the truth.

So I think the whole "spiritual advancement" thing is very valid. The snake bites could represent reception of new information?

most animal guides are the animal you relate to most like mine for instance is actually a boa constrictor specifically ive actually found that when anything happens in my life i either see or am being given one (so yes i do have quiet a few) but other than that ive never really heard of multiple animal guides before in reference to spiritual means but i have heard of them in reference to actuall guides. there have been storys that someone that is lost will often be visited by a certain animal that will if the person does somthing (normally follow the animal) the animal will help them but thats it that i know of.
