Hmm.
My opinion varies-
For me, I can honestly say that shota as defined by 18- w/ anything, I have no problem with.
I think my limit is around the point when the kid is- small.
Like, hasn't hit puberty yet.
Also, I find it a lot less creepy if the older of the pair isn't the one asking for it. And I mean literally asking, not being seductive.
Really it's not a matter of "is the love real", it's more "is one of them being taken advantage of"- as in, "would the child have accepted this ten years later"
Rape is mostly fine, shota is mostly fine, both is not fine, not at all, and that includes date rape.

I find it disgusting when it's rape. But like, if they're both consenting, etc, then it's pretty much good. But honestly, I don't care what kind of genre or whatever it's in, rape just disgusts me.

^ Um, how can you "consider" something rape? if both partners do not consent it's rape, end of story :/
I'll post in here again. Uh. My previous entries haven't been quite as...well-thought out as they should have been.
I'm not "for" or "against" - it's a work of fiction, and therefore rather harmless in my opinion. I don't personally enjoy it - I do ship Sebastian/Ciel like I mentioned earlier and that's basically my only exception.
Platonic shota can be cute, but anything further just makes me really uncomfortable since the younger boy probably isn't old enough to fully understand the situation.
That said, I really don't care if others like it or not, people have different tastes and that's fine by me as long as it's only fiction and fantasy.

It used to make me uncomfortable, but I've come to accept it now days.
I guess my philosophy has evolved (or devolved lol)
I take the stance that fiction is harmless & that porn is porn only when actors are involved visually. So, explicit anime & manga are perfectly fine~ Or prose works. Ex. Novels/Fanfiction
Thus, I'm "for" shota-con : D If I want a good storyline (development of characters & relationships), I limit the younger one at 12-15 and the older one at 16-28. If I just want some steamy sex (lust, lust, & more lust), I don't care about ages at all, but only care about good art & hot characters...
Outside the realm of fiction I'm against shota-con. As for big age differences, not so much. Love is love period.
