The steady whine of the airplanes engines did nothing to muffle the grumbles of the two girls seated near the wing, slouched down in their seats and glaring like crazy at the back of Wisp's head.
"It's not fair, she totally cheated," Irelia replied, already in mid conversation with Jace, though her hands held a PSP and were busy tapping the buttons needed to make Lego Indiana Jones crack his whip. Jace and Irelia were not much consoled with their booty prizes, PSPs both, though Jace was playing some bloody zombie game and seemed to be getting a lot of pleasure out of hitting their heads off with baseball bats. Wisp had been the real winner, several weeks ago, when she managed to bring home the best grade in her worst subject- French and Wisp was TERRIBLE at it- but she somehow managed to scrape a passing grade. Jace and Irelia had both failed Home Ec. How they managed to do this was a combination of being partners (the teacher failed to realize how stupid that would be, to let the kids pick their own partners), a deep pathological desire to light things on fire, and a penchant for "creative thinking"- chocolate chip and pickle cookies were an acquired taste. No matter how much they whined and complained, it was Wisp that was to get the best prize of all: she got to choose the family vacation.
And with much fervor and excitement, Wisp announced that they would be visiting London. Not for the varied sightseeing opportunities, or the historical legacy. No. Wisp's only reason for going to London was to marry Prince William or Prince Harry, but preferably both. And possibly for the raves, but that was only a plus.
Jace and Irelia grumbled all the way in to the terminal, up the escalators and in to the streets of London, failing to crack a smile as Bea began using English slang, and called for a "lorry". They grumbled all through the ride and all the way in to the hotel room- and Bea had had enough.
"We're... grounded?" Irelia said incredulously, looking through the slats in the blinds at the retreating forms of Wisp and Bea, walking briskly up the street, sans Irelia and Jace.
