From my understanding an research on poltergeist activity, it's not the same as ghosts. It's usually caused when someone is under a lot of stress and they can't cope with it for one reason or another. This causes a spike in their natural "psychic abilities" and usually results in things turning on that no one touched, things moving or disappearing without people touching them, loud bangs and other similar noises, and it may even cause that "sighing" or "breathing" sound you heard (although I've never heard of that happening).
Do you know if anyone else in the house is stressed?

I'd also get the house cleansed, too. Just in case. Sage is your best bet, but I have heard that Parsley can help cleanse and alleviate ghost/poltergeist activity. The parsley you soak in the water has to be fresh, though. On top of it's powers of cleansing, it's also very tasty. xD

You know, now that you mention it. I've had a situation like that, I got so pissed off/stressed out and a bulb outside my house blew out. Like we're talking a powerful street lamp. It's done it more then once. I've also thrown stuffed animals across my room along with have my lights flicker. It's kinda creepy. But hey that could be it.

Yet again, like me and Mezo are saying. You HAVE to get your house cleansed for safety measures pretty much. It won't harm you or anyone else.

I have heard of things shattering when it comes to poltergeist activity. Even the other things you mentioned can happen, also. Poltergeist activity is a pretty broad spectrum, to be honest. And the only reason I've done a lot of work looking into it is because I've had strange things like that happen to me when I was younger (I'm not that old... ;-; ) and someone told me about poltergeists. xD

Cleansing's never hurt anyone... unless you're allergic to the herbs. And parsley can hurt your baby if you're pregnant allegedly. o_o;

and to properly conclude this..."I solemnly swear with my heart and soul to never, EVER use black magic...EVER!!!"

Really, I've never heard of that. o.O

And yeah, I've done more research on Demonology and Poltergeist activity 'cause I was curious. But I guess I skipped something like that. o__O Oh well. But yeah, my b/f got freaked out 'cause I started to get REALLY pissed off, and was yelling REALLY loud towards him. And just BOOM out of no where the light outside just blows. o___o s**t, I was scared.

Also, OP, good idea. If you have to, set the parents down and explain it as best as you can. I've had to cleanse my house before, and my parents made fun of me. But, I did it anyways, and they even admitted that it felt lighter in the house.

another thing you can try for cleansing is opening a window and letting the fresh air in, and imagining some kind of force like wind or water, going through and carrying away all the bad energy.....

Ahhh, if I can remember the book I was reading that was talking about it I'd tell you. I just can't remember right now! @_@
But one of the stories in it was about a thick glass bowl that this guy bought for his mother and mother in law. He got into a fight with his mother and the bowl that he got her shattered. Then when they were at the mother in laws house he got into another fight with his mother and the mother in laws bowl shattered (and they were serving spaghetti or something in it, talk about a mess!).

And I've had instances where things would fall in front of doors and trip my dad. Also big two liter pop bottles would randomly explode in the garage. >>;
I don't have problems with it anymore since I've been meditating and such. I haven't cleansed my house, though... sort of been putting it off for some reason... my parents don't even care. @_@

Well, if you can ever remember, then feel free to leave me a comment or PM. =]

And yeah, I cleanse my house every now and then. And after each time, it feels lighter and I love it. I don't do it because I'm scared. I do it for safety since I'm a Medium/Clairvoyant. And I can sometimes attract rather mean/rude spirits.

Anywho, that sounds like me when I get uber pissed off. I just see s**t turn on and off, or things falling off of counters. ><

wow...nothing really major like that has ever happenned to me...although once with my friend nicole on halloween we were using my aunt's ouiji board and we wanted it to move something...it told us no, but later in the conversation he was telling us that he was looking at my drawings...and when we went back upstairs later(nobody else was home but us) we found my prized picture on the floor in the hallway, when before it was in a plastic case on my bed...
