Here's a tip:

place the end of a cotton swab in hot but not boiling water and gently touch it against the head of the pimple for 3 seconds. The heat will help open up the zit and draw the gunk to the surface so any topical medication or cleansers you use can work better.

You can then spot treat the acne with a drying cream to the flatten it out while you sleep. In the morning apply a concealer that contains salicylic acid to camouflage the blemish and heal it.

For those occasional pimples, wet with warm water, and apply some tooth paste over your pimple, wash and wipe it off after you finish washing up. owo

Lessens that pimple pain and redness for most of the day.

biggrin i have mild acne that gets worse when i don't take antibiotics(i had a really bad staph infection back in february & my mom won't take me off the antibiotics), so anything i can do to reduce my acne will be mucho helpful.

I know it's hard with SO many varities out there, but switching what you wash with can be a cure in itself.

I've recently started using my doc bronner's lemon bar soap. my back hasn't been this smooth in years and years. i'm almost afraid to get too excited. we'll see how this works out long term.

lately i've been using an oatmeal soap that's sold at a local shop not too far from my house, it's been working quite well. a big part of getting rid of my acne would be to stop touching my face so often gonk

I've tried everything and I'm convinced that my problem requires an actual drug but since I don't have insurance I have been avoiding the dermatologist and I just keep trying natural things.

Some of the things I've tried which sort of work and would probably work for normal people are:

Nutmeg scrub/mask

Mix some ground nutmeg with a bit of honey, milk, or even water. Apply it to the face and allow it to dry.

Kirk's Original Coco Castile Soap
I wash my face with this remove oil and gunk. Bronner's would probably work just as well but nobody sells that in my area and they do sell Kirk's. I have tried alternating this with

Sal-3 Soap
which is 3% salicylic acid and 10% sulfur. Some dermatologists recommend this combination and prescribe a form of it before going to Accutane or tetracycline.

Witch hazel
I have used this as an astringent toner. I have also tried

Bragg Raw Unfiltered Organic Apple Cider Vinegar
as a toner. It makes my face smell weird but if it works that's not an issue because I can apply it before bed when it doesn't matter so much.

All these things worked for a while and then sort of pooped out. I think my problem is more severe than most and some antibiotics might help. I never had "really bad acne" but I have at least one pimple all the time and it has gotten worse since probably around age 25 or so. If you're going to wear makeup be really careful to use the mineral stuff. Even if something says non-comedogenic it generally still breaks me out or I break out despite it.

I perfer using Tea tree oil. Just a couple of drops on a cotton swab and rubbed on the pimple works well.

I use ACV on and off. I happen to like the apple-ish smell of it. It IS really great for your skin.
