This pleased Astarteth greatly. In fact, her eyes were a wonderful blue-green color and she chirped happily to Daramulath. What a nice thing to say! No one will ever forget me. I am too slim and pretty. And when I fly, everyone will notice as well.

Kallista listened to E'rik and tried not to frown. She realized that her singing was not the best but she would prefer him to speak directly instead of dancing around with his words. But still, she listened to what he had to say and nodded. "I like the pipes. I can make small tunes with them."

Standing up and stretching, she looked outside. "I wonder how long we have been in here. Long enough that my belly demands food and I am sure Astarteth would like a good rub down."

Yes, I would. That would be divine. The green butted in.

"How about we try again in a couple days? So I can practice?" Kallista got herself ready to leave but waited for E'rik's reply.

When Astarteth mentioned flight Daramulath's tail twitched agitatedly but that was the only outward sign he gave of how discomfitting he found the thought of her flight. He did not usually think very far ahead, preferring to leave that stressful and exhausting task to E'rik whenever it was possible, but he did wonder what it would be like when Astarteth rose in flight. He thought he would probably chase her, but he didn't give much thought to whether he would catch her or not. She was very fast, he knew, and he was not. He simply had the ability to fly for long periods of time.

E'rik was not often hungry it seemed, and though he could eat and eat and eat without seeming to gain wait or fill his stomach, he did not tend to eat. In fact, he was very bad about remembering to feed himself, though Dara would not allow him to forget that the brown needed to eat every so often. Kallista's reminder that she was hungry made E'rik think about how long it had been since the last time he'd actually eaten. He went to dinner sometimes, but he didn't recall eating. He knew he hadn't eaten that day. But at the same time he wasn't hungry. So he would simply say good night, he decided.

"A few days sounds fine," he agreed. "We can pick one day in particular during drills or something."

E'rik, Daramulath interjected, tomorrow morning, if you have time, I've got this itchy spot behind my one shoulder that I think might need oiling.

All right. I don't mean to neglect you, E'rik replied guiltily.

You don't. I didn't tell you. It's not peeling or anything. It just itches. But if you woke up early enough we could swim, too. Which meant E'rik should really go to bed. He was as bad about sleeping as he was about eating, really.

"Good night, Kallista."
