Lilith was confused. What did she want? Toren, yes, Toren. No, Jerome. Growling, frustrated, she curled her knees up and wrapped her arms around them. She was split down the middle with her feelings. Toren was charming, kind, understanding and a true gentleman. But on the other hand, Jerome was just like herself... But engaged. It took her a few moments of frustration before she finally settled on the fact that she wanted Jerome because she couldn't have him. That must be the attraction, it had to be. Groaning, she dropped her head to her knees, silent. A footstep behind her made her jump, and turning round, she had a ball of flames in her hand, illuminating the darkening glade. What she saw made her gasp, and the flames went out. Slowly standing, she just stared. "Jerome?"

Jerome stopped. His eyes fell from their gaze. He wanted to talk to her, but he just couldn't find the right words. And everytime he had the perfect thing, he would open his mouth but silence was the only thing heard. Jerome finally took in a breath and managed to speak. "Lilth.. I.. I-I... I just don't know what to do.." He could feel saltwater tears forming in his eyes. Somehow he kept them back. Jerome took another breath to calm his nerves. "I know I want you.. And probably need.. But.. There is no way we will ever be, and that my dear, saddens me. I know that's not how I am.. But, with you, you just change everything. My mood lifts from it's gloomy stage, and I actually smile.."
Jerome said. For the first time out here, his chocolate eyes met with her beautiful blue orbs. He felt happy, even though he knew it wasn't a happy moment. He wished for so much, but most of it would never come true. It could, but only if his mother would let him choose who he wished to wed. Jerome could care less about the kingdoms coming together, he just wanted to be happy.

Lilith stood for what felt like ages after his words had silenced. Tears had come to the vampiress's eyes; he felt the same way she did. Covering her mouth to hide a sob, she took a hesitant step before running to Jerome, flinging her arms around him. Holding onto him like the very earth under her feet was dragging her away, she silently cried. "I-I know this goes against everything right now.. But... I don't know if it's the fact we can't be thats making me want you, or if it's because we are so alike. It.. I don't know what to do either." Her voice was barely above a whisper, her face hidden somewhere on Jerome's chest. He was the first person in the kingdom that made her smile so, and his personality underneath the cold mask was... Well, he was just amazing to her. A twinge in her stomach told her that this was disrespectful to Toren and Kara, but right now, it just felt right.

His arms moved slowly around her frame. He sighed, and looked to the heavens. "I don't know what we are going to do.. We could run away, but what would the damage be..? People slaughtered? I don't want our country to kill itself.." He said quietly. Jerome had some feeling for his home, only because of his father. Sure he loved his mother and brother, but maybe not as much as he should. Jerome didn't want to be married, unless it was to Lilith. Why did they have to join the two kingdoms anyway? That made little sense to him. Sure Kara was a handsome woman, the scars didn't bother Jerome one bit, but he still felt that he could never truly love her.
He frowned, and looked back down at her. "What are we to do?" He asked. Jerome hoped she had a plan, but even if not, this moment was wonderful. Just the thought of her in his grasp made him happy.

Lilith didn't know what to do either. Running away was no option, she'd already run from one problem in her life before. Hugging Jerome, she gave a short laugh which mingled with a soft sob. "We shouldn't even be doing this..." And leaning back to look up at the Prince, she smiled weakly before guiding him to sit next to her on the swinging seat, curling up next to him, his hands in hers. Feeling utterly defeated, she turned her blue orbs to look deep into Jerome's chocolate brown eyes. "Was this, was us, doomed from the start? I know you'll try to find affection for Kara, as i do the same with Toren. I just.. I wish things were simpler." And nuzzling her face into his neck, she laced her fingers with his. "Will we have to go behind everyone's backs just so we can find each other and this happiness in these moments?" Lilith almost whispered, moving her head to look at Jerome, waiting to hear his silky voice, hoping to catch a glimpse of his smile.

His fangs glistened in the twilight. His eyes closed once as he breathed the moment in. Jerome hoped and prayed it would never end, but he knew that wouldn't be true. He opened his eyes, and looked into her mystical blue orbs. "You're right my dear, we shouldn't, but we are. And that makes everything change. Rules were ment to be broken every now and then. As is this one." Jerome replied, pressing his lips softly against hers. He pulled away only a few moments later. "Only time will tell us if this was doomed. But I have my doubts. We are together now, so maybe, just maybe there is hope."
He said softly, looking away and up to the heavens. He nodded. If his mother wasn't so set in her ways, everything would be simpler, but he wasn't one to complain, out loud. Jerome thought long and hard about what she had just said. "If that is what it comes to, then yes. We will." He said, grinning happily at her. As his arms snaked their way around her, and pulled them closer he gently rocked the swing back and forth.

The soft kiss Jerome gave her sent shivers of warmth up Lilith's spine. Curled up next to him on the seat, she sat in happy silence as night-time well and truly fell. Waving her hand lazily, the Roman candles in the area lit up around them as fire flies began to appear. Turning slightly, she looked up at Jerome, before settling her head on his shoulder, nose slightly nuzzling his neck. He was right; some rules were meant to be broken. But at the same time, Lilith couldn't help but somewhat miss Toren's company. Sighing softly, her lips barely brushed Jerome's neck as she spoke. "We'll just take things slow, yeah?" She whispered, leaning back a little to look up at him before smiling and shifting so she could lay across his lap, looking up at him. Given the dress she was wearing clung to her torso like a glove, and showed off more than it should, Lilith looked rather content and extremely beautiful.

Jerome sat there, cuddling with her and admiring the dwindling day. He didn't know how they could hide this from the rest of the world. And maybe the fact that he was to be wed tomorrow bothered him some. Jerome was many things but never a cheater. Well, he was, but he didn't know if he could do it behind a spouses back. These thoughts swirled around his thick skull. Jerome sighed, and remained quiet. After a few more moments of thinking he nodded. "Yeah." Jerome placed his lips on the top of her hair and breathed her in. It made him get butterflies. Why? He didn't know nor care. "To bad the day must end.." Jerome whispered quietly, watching Lilith with chocolate optics.

Lilith sighed. Tomorrow was a big day for everyone, but something was concerning her. Sitting up slowly, she hugged her knees. "Jerome... After tomorrow... I.." Trailing off, unable to finish the sentence, she knew he'd understand. It wasn't in Lilith to be the reason for Jerome to go behind everyone's backs. She couldn't do that to the people who took her in. Head falling onto her arms, she let out a frustrated growl. How could she have forgotten about tomorrow? Unless it was postponed.. There was nothing she could do to be with him. Turning around, her bright blue eyes looked into his chocolate, her own eyes shining. Tears pricked the corners of them as she felt the need to run back inside, run to her room and lock herself in. Her body twitched at the thought, and her hands grabbed his. But instead of running, she flung her arms around him and held him close, sliding onto his lap, her body curling against his like she never wanted to let go.

Jerome frowned. Why was love so painful? He hated it. He sighed. "I understand.." His words were soft, and melancholy. His eyes drifted to the ground before shutting, and forcing salty water flow down his face. Jerome wanted to stay with her, but as the night awoke, so would many things. Jerome felt Lilith hold onto him and seat herself on his lap. His arms slowly snaked themselves around her frame. He was sad. Even in her presence, he felt sorrow. That was one thing he wished he would have to do. But it was to late to change anything now. Jerome watched the grass blow slowly in the breeze. It was as if they were dancing to the music of the wind. Images of himself and Lilth ballroom dancing. That was to much for him. "Lilith.. Please forgive me.. But I must go.." Jerome said, looking at her. He removed his arms and pulled Lilith off, setting her gently down. He rose, and made his way towards the doors.

Feeling Jerome tense to stand up, then setting her on the seat, she sat in suspended animation as two tears fell down her cheeks. Unable to stop herself, and with Jerome half way to the edge of the pavilion clearing, she let out a sob and stood up. "Jerome!" She cried out, running over to him and grabbing his hand. A steady flow of tears were now coming, each glistening in the firelight like tiny crystals. Bright blue orbs stared deep into chocolate ones, as Lilith pulled him close to her again, wrapping one arm around his waist, the other around his shoulders. Placing her forehead on his, she silently cried for a few moments, her hand stroking his cheek before kissing him. The kiss was deep, and full of the passion she had inside for him. Her right hand had snaked it's way to his hair as her slender fingers played with it as her left hand gripped the back of his shirt, her body pressed against his. She couldn't let him go, as much as they both knew they should let each other go, it was too soon. Not now, not yet...

Things seemed to get harder the more you tried to avoid them. Jerome was trapt between two things; Lilith and Kara. The tears kept flowling steadily from his optics as they gazed into beautiful blue ones. Why couldn't he just wake up? Sure he knew he wasn't dreaming, and even though he knew he needed to step back into reality and walk away from fantasy. Though that was much easier said than done. Jerome let his arms wrap around her torso and pulled her closer to himself. He kissed back with just as much passion. Jerome was confused as emotions toyed with his heart, and mind. His thoughts mixed with eachother clogging his thinking process. One of his hands moved to her face, and brushed away a stray strand of hair. His heart was aching. Jerome pulled away for a moment to catch his breath. "Lilith.. If we are going to be honest.. We mustn't do this.." He whispered quietly staring at her sadly.

The tears weren't showing any signs of stopping as Lilith looked up at Jerome. He was right, he was always right. Her right thumb wiped away the fresh and old tears on his face, before fixing his hair. "I know..." She whispered. "I just wanted one final moment." As she stood there, she could feel her heart ache, but knew it was for the best for both of them. A sad smile passed her lips as she covered up a sob with a short laugh. "Kara... Is one very lucky lady." Lilith said in a barely audible voice. Blue orbs barely meeting chocolate ones, she dropped her gaze. "You're going to be the worlds most perfect husband." She said in a strangled, quite voice before meeting his eyes, tears spilling out of her own. Resisting the temptation to give him one final kiss, she let go of the Prince and ran. Reaching the castle door, she didn't stop until she was in the drinking hall, sitting at the bar. The tears had stopped, and her eyes ached, her face slowly drying as she sat in silence, slowly drinking something clear and smelling extremely potent. Her mind made her think of Toren, and soon a tiny smile graced her lips. That feeling she liked was in her stomach again; maybe she really did like Toren alot after all.
