I'm not a member of this guild yet, but i'd like to ask some questions anyway..

I have a rabbit that has lived in the pound for about 1-2 years, live inside a house for 1-2 years with my neigbor and then has lived for half a year in my garage, and finally is presently living in my backyard that is about 20-24 feet long and about 10 feet wide. It has a strips of land that is covered in shrubery about 3 feet off the wall to the wall and a a grass field near the center... Strangely, my rabbit seem to hate anything new. I can't even pick it up and hug it with out a struggle. It hates all bouncy balls and weird sounds..

can someone tell me what is wrong with my rabbit????

oh yeah... i can pet it on occasion. It theres nothing wrong someone tell me what to do.....

Nothings wrong, sweetie! It's just a little nervous of new things. Maybe it's just shy by nature. You can try to approach it gently, and let it learn that letting you pet it means treats...you'll have a happy bunny! (Not the brand, of course.)
Come! Be a part of our guild! Join the family! Post more often! heart

it's been almost two years now that i've known it.. it lets me pet it... not much else....
It is shy by nature too i guess.... it's scared of umbrellas and anything that is over her head.... that is kinda big and can trap her... or at least what she thinks can catch her...

Well put ot this way.. You are living in a lovley house and then one day you have to move to a trailer where you know no one at all and scary things happen at night. Also you are about 7 times bigger then your bunny

Your bunny is fine, just timid. Just give it time and patience! I love bunnies, I have one at my house, it's my sister's though. heart

You guys are right. Your bunny obviously takes time to for you to earn their trust. If he's in a cage, stick your hand in and wait for him to crawl towards you. Take it slow so your bunny is most comfortable. Make sure to show him love! heart

well you've said that you've known it for two years now so i dont think he/she needs "time to get used to you". Well just to let you know bunnies are not totally domesticated pets yet, so they got a lot of "wild" in them. They do frighten(sp?) easily (basically anything that moves scares them). I've had my bun for about two years now too (and have had a couple others through out the years) but i actually keep her in a hutch. Now when you introduce new things to her/him you have to put it in when he/she is in there (after all, would you appreciate someone randomly putting things into YOUR house?) she'll re-arrange it to the way she wants it and if she doesnt like it, then just take it out. (bouncy balls are a no no and same goes for weird sounds) -they're prey, NOT preditors, so they are CONSTANTLY on guard. And as far as your bunnie struggling when you pick it up, im wondering if you ever dropped her (its hard for them to trust again) and if you havent- then your probably picking her up the wrong way or coming at her the wrong way.. If you have any other questions feel free to PM me, im very knowlegable on Bunnies and am glad to help! well the best of luck to you!

I had a rabbit once and she was a sweetheart. Then I came back from vacation and she was more nervous and scared then I'd ever seen her. She would bite and growl all the time. It took time but we got her to trust me more by just spending time with her. She just needs to know you love her heart

some rabbits are naturally unfriendly, i don't mean MEAN, just just not friendly. a lot of rabbits are like that, especially if they weren't handled a lot as littluns or abused (not saying yours was), and some are just that way.
