Thank you Lizzy!!!

I have 6 glofish in a five gallon along with 2 albino cory cats and a pleco. All has been fine until today (6/18/09). Last night I put a little too much water clearafier into the water and the cory cats went into a shock like state. The glofish slowed down a bit, but they are getting back to their perky selves now.

I woke up this morning and went to check on something for my fiance (off topic banter here). After that I went to my fish tank to feed them. The cory cats are still in a bit of shock, but thats not the problem. One of my green glofish was stuck to the tube of the filter. I almost panicked, but grabbed the net, rinsed it with spring water, and gently pushed (possibly a female) away from the filter. (She) was lithargic and staying at the bottom of the tank, not moving her fins. Then she went back up and got herself stuck on the filter again eek So I was scared and grabbed my 1 gallon and put about a third fresh spring water and the rest from the tank, put her in there and plugged my heater in and let it warm up a bit and put a little salt just in case.

She started rubbing on the heater so i imidiantly checked her closely for scales missing and there are none missing that I can see. But then I noticed what may be an egg? I'm not sure how small they are. I tried looking up info all I got was the ones with rounder bellys may be females, and this one has always had a rounder belly. So my problem is I dont know if shes sick, if she is a she, or if she is pregnant. crying

egg laying fish dont get pregnant technically. eggs get fertilized on the outside of the fish. if anything she may be full of unfertilized eggs but not pregnant technically if she is that much fatter.

look at her from above. does she look like a pinecone? or excessively bloated?

right now she sounds sick. most of those water conditioners dont say it but too much can suck the oxygen right out of your tank. add airstones and keep your water well circulated.

When I said pregnant I ment filled with eggs that weren't fertilized sweatdrop

She doesn't seem more bloated then she usually is.

I didn't know it sucked the air out. There is an air stone in the tank, but it is a little one. I'll put it in the 1 gal with her for a few minutes then put her back in the 5 gallon. Thank you so much for replying!

ahh ok smile i just didnt want you to worry about losing baby fish D: cuz that can be a bit more stressful on us fish keepers.

her rubbing up against things is scratching. something in the water is making her itchy be it a ph change temp change or something like ich starting up.

hopefully she will be ok : O

Yeah I thought fry would be cute, but I'm not that expirienced so they probably would have died and that would have been so sad ):

Uh oh, I was hoping thats not what it was. Shes not really rubbing, its more of her swimming to it and just laying on it.

She seems to be doing better since I put the airstone in (:
