電話「でんわ」telephone.

もしもし。- moshi moshi- hello

~をお願いします。- ~ wo onegaishimasu- May I speak to ~

~はいらっしゃいますか。~ wa irasshaimasu ka- Is ~ there?

(person answering)どなたですか。- donata desu ka- Who is calling?

(person answering)ちょっとお待ち下さい。- chotto omachi kudasai- One moment please.

(person answering)~は今いません。-~ wa ima imasen- ~ is not here right now.

また後で電話します。-mata atode denwa shimasu- I will call you again later.

間違えました。-machigaemashita- I got the wrong number.

話中です。-hanashi chu- The line is busy.

電話番号は何番ですか。- denwa bangou ha nan ban desu ka.- What is your phone number? sweatdrop whee

Saying telephone numbers in Japanese

For the phone number, you say the digits in order, the replace the dash with "no".

Ex. (123)456-7890

ichi ni san yon go roku "NO" nana hachi kyuu zero
