I know I'd better stop trying
You know that there's no denying
I won't show mercy on you now
I know I should stop believing
I know that there's no retrieving
It's over now; what have you done?

Name: W'ten
Age: 28
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Restricted information
Rank: Wingrider

Physical Description: There is nothing spectacular about W'ten's appearance, and he certainly doesn't go out of his way to get noticed. Tall and lanky, he was the type of boy who shot up like a shoot and towered over his classmates before they managed to catch up. Though being a dragonrider has helped him build muscles, he is still deceptively thin, especially when he stands alongside K'em. Though he's tall, W'ten is most definitely not clumsy about it. He's aware of his size and is in complete control of his body, and one will never see him flailing about or tripping over things because he's tall. That would be a disgrace to his upbringing. As he was born in the north he has pale skin, with dark hair (cut to regulation length) that he keeps extremely neat. His eyes are a steely grey and always seem to have a very sharp look about them, no matter what his mood.

Personality: If you thought that W'ten was a stoic know it all... well, you'd be right. As the second son of a Steward, this brownrider spent most of his life trying to catch up to his elder brother. Some sons may have taken the opportunity to pursue other paths in life, seeing as he was not required to study to become a Steward, however W'ten chose to make himself into a young man that would be much better suited for the position. He spent his childhood studying and familiarizing himself with anything that would have been useful to his quest for success, and had little time for playing and games. Silliness was simply not tolerated, and even to this day he has a hard time understanding why people feel the need to waste precious time with meaningless activities like fun and games. He also does not see why people feel the need to break rules just for the sake of "being rebellious." W'ten is practically a walking rule book and makes it his personal vendetta to make sure everyone around him knows when they're not following regulation.

Always the logical one, he always seems to be composed and dignified, rarely loosing his ‘cool.’ He's not emotionally expressive, as he was taught from a very young age that one had to be able to conceal one's true feelings to go far in life. It is rare that he truly shows how he feels, though he does have an array of small facial expressions which generally show up when he is irritated by something. His voice is monotone more often than not, which tends to make him seem rather sarcastic. He is, however, simply stating what he considers obvious fact, and if people actually thought before they spoke they wouldn't have to have facts restated for their listening pleasure. W'ten has always been a firm believer that stupidity is avoidable.

However, just because he doesn't have a wide variety of expressions doesn't mean that he doesn't feel anything. There are certain "taboo" topics which when brought up tend to end in disaster. W'ten has a very sharp tongue when he thinks he's being threatened, and is liable to insult his way out of any confrontation that involves his taboo topics. Any other topics are fair game, however when he feels the questions become too personal or too annoying, he politely ends the conversation and leaves. It's as simple as that. Don't take him personally; he acts like this with everyone. W'ten is nothing if not consistent.

His carefully constructed "cool" personality protects him from anything in life that upsets him, and when it's broken he becomes an emotional wreck. Unable to deal with himself when he's not "normal", he is prone to hiding himself away in his weyr until he's composed himself enough that he feels he can face the world without shaming himself.

Pets: None
Other/Talents: Exceptional at mathematics, especially in the area of probabilities; is able to logically think things through without allowing emotions to disrupt him (most times)

History

Wutanten was the third child and second son of the High Reaches Hold Steward. With a sister and a brother before him, his family clearly had everything they needed. His elder brother would take his father's place when the man wished to retire, and his elder sister could be married off to a nice man when she was old enough to improve relations. Wutanten's father was a very business-oriented man, and insisted that all of his children were properly educated no matter what their role would be in life. Thus, Wutanten spent his childhood fostered out whenever there was room for him, studying and absorbing all that he could. His dream to make himself into a man that would be right for the job of Steward began when he was about twelve turns old, and he pursued it with a single minded determination.

All of his plans were thrown for a loop when he was Searched at fourteen. His father insisted that he must accept the dragonrider's offer or else disgrace his family, and Wutanten was shipped off to High Reaches Weyr. The transition was a little rough at first, since he made no attempts to befriend any of the other Candidates and especially not the Weyrbrats. Everyone, including Wutanten himself, was absolutely floored when he was chosen by brown Kaieth the first time he stood for Impression. Now unable to become the Steward, the newly named W'ten threw himself headlong into becoming the perfect brownrider. No Record was left unread in his pursuit of knowledge. Eventually he fancied himself so knowledgeable that he even began correcting the Weyrlingmaster in his lessons, and spent several lessons sitting out in the hall. But he eventually grew up, graduated, and attempted to move on with is life.

Unfortunately, life decided to give him K'em. And thus began the rest his life, also known as The Time With The Sharding Idiot. For quite a while, the pair battled, their natures clashing. And they kept at it, and kept at it, and then, at some point, it went from nasty to friendly without either party noticing. And as time when on, it went from friendly to camaraderie. And now, W'ten can't imagine life without K'em. They are meant to bust each other’s chops and, quite frankly, the fact that K’em is a wing second and W’ten is not is the ultimate chop buster.

I'll take the shot for you
I'll be the shield for you
Needless to say
I'll stand in your way
I'll take the shot for you

Name: Kaieth
Colour: Brown
Font Colour: Dusty Brown
Physical Description: On the smaller side of average for a brown, Kaieth is a rather squat dragon. He has none of the manoeuvrability of some of the smaller browns, but makes up for it in endurance. Though quite lazy on his days off, this brown doesn't waste any energy when it comes down to business, and as a result can last a long time up in the air. As for his colouration, it's nothing particularly stunning or remarkable. His body is a woody brown with a lighter underbelly and darker markings. No matter what the situation, his eyes always seemed to have some element of green in them, as though he is quietly amused or pleased with the world around him.

Personality: The epitome of the calm brown, Kaieth is the type of dragon who does things at his own pace. Why run when you can walk and enjoy the scenery? There's so much life around that it would be a pity to simply ignore it and hole yourself up in the Record Room. He most certainly appreciates the finer, material things in life, often times much to his rider's dismay. The brown spends most of his time sunning himself, and when he's finished sunning he wants to swim, then sun again. Life is wonderful, isn't it? Kaieth certainly thinks so. No matter what the situation, he always tries to look on the bright side of things, and remind his rider that things could always be worse. Despite his rather slow and steady personality, he does have quite a dry sense of humour, and sometimes surprises his rider with his wit.

Where W'ten lacks interest and consideration for other people, Kaieth is a dragon of compassion. He has a certain quiet respect for humans beyond his rider, always giving them the benefit of the doubt whenever they do something wrong. The brown always looks for an ulterior motive, never believing that someone would do something cruel without reason. He believes in others against all odds, and because of this, frequently suffers at the hands of dragons or people who are not as good as he believes them to be. Still, he chides his rider for his sharp tongue and is quick to intervene when a taboo subject is broached, wanting to keep the peace. It is only when his rider is distressed that Kaieth becomes riled, however his approach is entirely defensive, putting himself between his rider and the problem to allow W'ten time to compose himself. He dislikes having to fight, but does not hesitate to put his foot down whenever things get out of hand.

Other: Kaieth enjoys watching humans interact, and often suns himself close to them so he can observe their behaviour.
