Off by himself once again, Ruger was chasing after a butterfly, a goofy grin spread across his face. He must look quite the sight as he followed the little bug in zig zags and circles, until finally he just plopped over to his back to catch his breath. All the way back to his cubhood he'd raised himself. Nobody had taught him good or evil, nor had he seen it himself. Though it was instinct and did not have to be taught.
He began purring a bit as the sun warmed his purple belly. To him it felt like the sun had draped a warm blanket over him. Though sitting still was not a strong point. He soon started to roll around on the grass just to keep himself entertained.

Light foot falls fell against the grasslands in an unsteady rhythm. If one looked they would see a peculiar sight. There was a blue female with pink fins protruding from her ears, tail and a dorsal fin on her back. Her body was covered in scars, many old and plenty more new. Her blue eyes were devoid of all emotion...it was like she was nothing more than a wandering limping husk. Her head hung low and her eyes cast down to the ground. She passed by Ruger, not even noticing him and slipped into the watering hole.

She may not have noticed him, but he had heard somebody walk past him. With a light grunt, he rolled over to his stomach, then stood up and shook grass out of his fur. It was indeed an odd sight to him since he'd only ever seen normal lions. But this one had fins! With a tilt of his head he began padding over curiously. "Hello?"

Immediately she dropped to the ground, her ears pinned against her head and her tail curled around herself. She had become nothing more than a trembling lump of fur. Why? Simple. She had been beaten, raped and marred from the demon known as Snare so it was only natural that she'd cower when hearing a mans voice.

He stopped quickly upon seeing this new lioness become tense. He gave a quick look around, listening for anything dangerous, but decided there was nothing bad nearby. He was clueless as to why she'd frozen the way she did. But regardless, he sat down and cocked his head to the side, looking much like a curious overgrown cub. "You ok? I don't hear anything nearby. Maybe you see something I don't?"

He was a curious male to say the least...though she should remain cautious. He could simply be trying to fool her to a false sense of safety. He was a man and men only did one thing. Abandon or hurt her.

Her question only served to confuse him. "Why would I hurt anybody? All living things are precious." He smiled brightly then, but did not stand back up quite yet. It was more clear that she was skittish about him. Moving suddenly could cause her to flee. "I was just curious. I've never seen a lioness like you before. You have fins."

"A water lioness? I never knew there was such a kind of lioness! I imagine you love to swim. Or at least need water..." He stopped short and once again cocked his head to the side. "Weaker? No no. I'm positive your stronger than me. You have advantages over me." He chuckled lightly, imagining trying to move around in water.
Staying in one place was getting to him, so he plopped over onto his back to feel the warm sun again. Without much thought, he'd just put himself into the most submissive pose a male could be in. Though he could care less. It was the most comfortable of his laying positions.

Ok, now she was most defiantly confused and yet at the same time rather relieved.He reminded her of how she used to be. Care free and so happy. It seemed that back then nothing could put a damper on her mood. She only wished things could be like that for her now.

When the water lioness spoke again he partially sat up, though pretty much just moved more to his side so he could face her. It seemed as if she'd calmed down a little. Every little bit counted.
"That's a pretty name Sanctus. My name is Ruger." He offered a slightly goofy smile, then one he had most of the time.

"Thank you. It means Sacred Innocence...though I suppose it doesn't really apply any longer...now that my innocence has be taken away from me."
She fell silent for a moment or two, her eyes now staring at the ground in shame. How this happened...well it had all become a blur. The days seemingly bled together where she couldn't tell you what day it was if her life depended on it. Then she snapped back to attention.
"I'm sorry for babbling. Your name sounds nice too."

Ruger simply ignored the comment of losing innocence. Not only was it none of his buissness, but it seemed a very painful topic. It really looked as if that bit of her talking totally missed his ears.
Thank you. Mine doesn't have a meaning. Not that I'm aware of. But it's still good." He smiled brightly, sitting up a bit. He started to fiddle with a pebble between his paws now as he looked at the water lioness.
"I bet you just love to swim"
