is anybody else annoyed that the pro-choicers refer to unborn children as fetuses? i find that a living being capable of feeling within a human body should be known as what it actually is. a child. a baby. a little girl or boy.
what newly pregnant couple breaks the news to their families by saying
"we'd like to happily announce that we have a fetus!"
???!!!
is it justification?

The term fetus is a correct term to a certain age in development. However, they over use it and they use it because it has no emotionle attachment to it like "child" and "baby" does. Child and baby both mean "off spring" and are both correct terms as well, no matter how incorrect they say they are.

Exactly what he said. They overuse it, and get angry at us when we say "baby" or "child". We should just say "baby" 24/7 to make them angry and let them know that we can say whatever we want, whenever we want to say it.

The term "baby" is also labled a term of endearment. ANy one who calls it a baby obviously loves it, so my question is why do they hate it, and us, when we choose to love him/her?

We should just say "baby" 24/7 to make them angry and let them know that we can say whatever we want, whenever we want to say it. Well... The only thing is, if we are trying to gain any ground at all, aggrivating the people on the other side of the issue isn't going to help any. As you said, they get angry, which means they are even more likely to revert to yelling and namecalling, and it just degenerates. And people watching won't have a good opinion of us if we are using the term "baby" instead of "fetus" just to piss people off.

How can they tell if were are or arre not using it to piss people off. "Baby" is a correect term by it definision. If they tell its its a fetus and not a baby, we can kindly show them the definition, tell them that they are right, but that we too are right.

Except that -we- know we are doing it to piss them off. I'm all for calling the "fetus" a baby; But not for those reasons, and not with the knowledge that doing so will turn a semi-civil debate into a hell-hole of VR/internet screams and curses.

Well my fetus died and I think there is plenty of emotional attachment to the word. My BIL in prison drew me up a picture of an angel that is a fetus and I am going to get a tattoo of it. I specifically told him I wanted a fetus- not an infant. it will be a great memorial to my child not to mention an incredible conversation starter!

well, shild and baby, and little girl/boy are already born, and are associated with such. Fetus means unborn child.

here's what I have a problem with...not being able to use the word "child"
The word has two equally correct meanings
1) A human life at a certain stage in development
2) A human offspring
Think about it...we are all our parent's children. How often have you heard the phrase " I have 3 grown children"
Obviously, child has more CORRECT meanings than simply a human between 2-12 so why the heck does the pro-choice side get so offended when you use the alternate and equally correct usage to describe the fetus as the offspring of the parent.
