This isn't really a recipe, more like ideas for cake smile
You know the hard kind of icing you use for decorating gingerbread?
Well, if you draw/print out a cute image of a crown, you can put it under your baking paper and pipe out the icing along the lines. You can add coloured sugar crystals or those big, spherical sprinkles (do they have a name?) as gems, if you like, and then you just stand the crown up on the cake as a decoration. It looks super cute!
Also, you can get lace-cutters in some cake shops. With that you can make the edges of your cake edible AND cute.
I've heard that marzipan isn't used often outside of Europe? Well, assuming that it isn't, If you do come across some good marzipan, I urge you to use it on your cake instead of fondant! It's absolutely divine and you can use food colouring in it just like with anything else smile It's also very pliable, so making little flowers out of it is ridiculously easy.
And another thing... Roses are, in the field of gastronomy, entirely underestimated. Have you ever tasted rose jelly? It. Is. Amazing. I've been trying desperately to find a place that sells it but it's a bit difficult. If you have access to fresh roses though, you can probably make it yourself (I bet there's a recipe on the web somewhere). Rose jelly is used just like normal marmalade or jam. You can put in your cakes, or on scones for example. The flavour isn't as "perfumey" as people think, it's actually quite refreshing. Stay away from artificial "rose essence" though, that stuff is pretty vile xD
When making sweets, adding a dash of rose water to whipped cream, and also a liiittle bit of sugar, does wonders. I like to dye mine pink biggrin
You can also dip fresh rose petals in egg white, and then in sugar, to make pretty and edible cake decorations <3
EDIT: Rose jelly and rose water tend to be available in middle-eastern food shops.
