I take mine out occasionally. it really depends on where I'm going. I've taken them to the store, school, friends houses, cons, parks, movie rental. I am very careful with them though.

I don't take Otavi out very often, but I do sometimes. He's come to class with me once, to the train station to meet someone from DOA, and to meet friends from home. For the most part he stays home, though, because I'm too lazy to carry him constantly and am paranoid about yellowing, anyway. XD

I've often taken them out into public, and to school even. I've often had a 'is that a baby?' question when approached from the side with the doll's back to them. It's actually quite funny to watch their expression when they realize it's a doll I'm holding.

If it's someplace I know I'll need my hands, or have some risk of getting hurt though I won't take them.

Though .. I haven't taken them out recently now that I think about it.. Kinda sad..

I only take my doll out when I'm probably not gonna use my hands a lot. But I've taken her to malls, coffee places ect you name it she's been there except amusement parks surprised .

I only take my dolls out if I want to take their picture with a nature scene. (Like take them to a garden, or such) Or if I am taking them to a doll store. Otherwise, they normally stay in and around my house. (I do take them to Hobby Lobby though). People always look at me weird :/

Taking them outside is a lot of work, especially since I'm always a nut about being careful. However, I did a semester long photo project with my YoSD Kakeru while traveling across Japan for my university's blog. Getting paid to do photo stories every week convinced me to take the little guy out and visit a lot of cool places, and endure a lot of weird looks from bystanders.

The whole time, we chased his missing cat (Komame) while having a lot of adventures along the way, staying at hot springs and visiting the Studio Ghibli museum, famous temples and shrines from Tokyo to Kyoto, the Ueno Zoo, etc. Here are a few samples of Rowan traipsing from landmark to landmark in Japan:

I never take my dolls out. They are all porcelain and I am way too fearful of them breaking. I keep mine in a large oak wood curio cabinet.

This is a picture of my favorite doll though, like her other brothers and sisters she is also porcelain.
