So its been seven months since the c-section...and most of the time I'm fine, but every once in a while my incision gets this rugburn-ish feeling, and is extremely sensitive. Other days it feels great.
My son was climbing on me today and sort of pinched my skin right on my incision...I attributed the pain to that, but its not going away.
Is it normal to have such sporadic sensitivity so late after the surgery?

I never had a C-section, but I can tell you that some of my scars from my gall bladder surgery can and do act up occasionally. It seems less often the longer away from the surgery it has been , but even the scar from my broken ankle/pin/plates of about 19 years ago can get irritated if I have high top (Hiking shoes) on or some other way it is irritated and it rubs for too long. Can you call your doctor and just ask if that is normal for YOUR surgery? I know my ortho surgeon told my about Gold Bond and some other OTC things that I could try to help ease the discomfort when it happens.

I had a c-section and mines did that for a while after words every now and again it gets this burning itch and it drives me insane.. I also had a issue where this string that they used to keep the incision closed (i didnt get sticthes or staples) And my body reacted terrible to it!

If its a pain take a tylenol remember where its at and maybe some lotion rubbed on it.. if it keeps up i would call the doctor cause that could be something else. biggrin good luck!

That kind of activity in a scar is actually pretty common, if my patients are any indication. I know if I was treating you, I'd be looking to remove any excess "heat" (irritation) - so if it was me I'd be looking for lotions with cooling ingredients in them: chamomile, oats, green tea, chrysanthemum, aloe...stuff like that there. Kiss My Face has a great hand lotion called Chinese Botanicals, and it has a bunch of anti-inflammatory herbs in it. I use it anytime I have skin irritation or boils - you could give that a try.

And, of course, as has been said, it is always worth checking with your doctor to make sure this is the normal irritation, and not a symptom of something going wrong.
