I don't want to sound like a total noob but how often should I use cork grease?

don't worry this is a saxophone guild and we don't care if you sound like a noob. We're here to help. Anyway, when i first started I used cork grease A LOT but once i got the cork worn down i didn't use it as much. The occasional application doesn't hurt though.

If it takes a good deal of effort to get your mouthpiece on, use it. You'll probably have to do this a lot if you get a new cork. Eventually the cork will be permanently lubed up, so you really wont have to do it any more until you get a new one.
