Okey guys I'm doing an article on the NASCAR NExtel Cup points system and I need your help with a thing.
I need you to vote on my poll and tell me which you prefer the new points system (the play-off/chase system) or the old system (the pre-04 system)
Can you do this for me?

I voted for the old system, because the new system, IMO rewards drivers more for late season comebacks and punishes others who run consistently throughout the year.
At the end, there's just more chance for drivers who don't need to be up where they're at, and drivers who ran well the whole season are knocked down because of someone's late charge.
EXAMPLE: Jamie McMurray would have finished 6th last year in points under the old system, but was shut out of finishing any higher than 11th.
Jeff Gordon would have been the 2004 champ under the old system, but Kurt Busch's impressive run trumped that.
Although this year I think it's working out much like the old system. Tony Stewart seemed to be the dominator going into the chase, and he's still up there now.
However, as long as the rules are in place, it works for and against everyone. So hence, I still consider Busch to be the rightful 2004 champion, especially after how he and his crew worked every race. It seemed like he got into trouble EVERY chase race, but still his team managed to get him back out.

*Nods* exactly what I've been thinking.. and trying to get into my essay.. just trying to get enough text for 3-5 pages without going into flaming and staying on topic (essays can be so hard).. but atleast I got some numbers from the vote... even if it would have been nice with some mroe votes but ohwell ^^
