But they're hard to find and relatively expensive.

I've been reading alot of Sherlock Holmes and Watson's escapades with his service revolver has made me want one again. And the Webley is the essential service revolver. But I don't know of any others like it. Any suggestions?

Yeah, I've been wanting one for a few years now. Shame they're in kind of obscure calibers. Did you hear about the Sherlock Holmes movie coming Christmas Day? I can't wait! biggrin

I could be wrong, but I think there was a series of Webleys made in a common, modern caliber. Either .38 or .45ACP, I don't remember. And yeah, I know .45 is rimless, but it can be done.

The webley from WWII was in .38/200, which is .38 S&W and if you take a .455 webley and trim the chambers, you can fit a .45 ACP in it, but you need moon clips for it to extract.

If you do that, I have no respect for you for ruining a historic gun.

But I'm considering getting a .455 and working on hand loading.

And I've heard rumors of the Holmes movie. But the Whitechapel movie was excellent.

I've done some looking into it. The Webley Mk V that came in .455 Webley, were cut to accept .45 Auto, now, on certain websites they sell new barrel AND cylinder combos still set up for .455 Webley.
Cost about $200-300, but to be able to swap from using a common, or relatively more common, type of ammo to a less common, more awesome, correct caliber is probably worth it.

Been wanting to get a Webley as well.

Damn awesome IMO.

Well the problem is finding the actual gun itself.

Yeah I know.
I found one Webley, not sure of the model but it's in .38 S&W which, I was hoping to find a mod 5.
