The only one I know of without racking my brain is Mademoiselle K.

Only bands that come to my mind are
Superbus (on Guitar Hero 3 with "Radio Song"...quite a mix of pop, rock and other stuff)
Leto (only know "Ce Monde" - metal or hard rock dunno)
Digitalism, Sebastian, Justice and Daft Punk - all electro, techno, dance mix
Of course if you like one you can listen to their radio on last.fm or for those living in America (lucky you !) Pandora or Slacker's the way 2 go. Haven't tried imeem yet but I think they also have radios of similar artists.

I'm in Germany and used Pandora as it was still available worldwide. Was forced to quit after the fact you just stated. I don't trust proxy servers, because I know how easy it is to monitor traffic + proxies are friggin' slow.
