The rose, born of black night, bears two lovers. The light, enraged by the forbidden love, steals the maiden away. She yearns for her heart of darkness and rips her own heart from her breast. Its melodic prayer is carried through the air as droplets of rain. When they land once more in the darkness, the young man sees the crystal droplets form into beads of blood on his fair skin. They seep into his body, and when he sleeps, he hears her cry for him. He willfully leaves his eternal night, and reaches the light, seeking his love. She calls to him once more, but her heart has gone and she is losing her life. The man crosses into the light to embrace her dying form, and speaks words of love to his beautiful companion. She dies with a gentle smile on her lips. The light sees what has become of its hostage and, outraged, encases the young woman in a crystal, throwing her into the abyss. The young man leaps to follow her, but the light bars his way eternally from Earth, and from light. Despairing, the young man returns to the darkness, and finds himself tearing his soul out of his body. In his final moments, he takes the rose, and kissing it, throws it to the Earth below. He whispers his wish that the rose find his crystal love, and breathes his last. The rose, falling to Earth, catches the tears of the young man. When she falls, her petals scatter into the wind. Her corpse sinks into the Earth, and wherever there once lay a thorn, war among the people of Earth rages incessantly. Wherever there once lay a leaf, the waters run dry, leaving a scarred desert. The rose's petals fells upon the Earth. All but one disappeared with time, leaving no trace at all. The one petal that remained carried the young man's tears. As the petal flew, the tears fell to Earth, burying themselves into the ground. They formed into diamonds, and with time, humans began to kill one another over this crystallized suffering of the young man. One teardrop remained upon the petal. This petal was carried by the winds to a forlorn cavern. At the mouth of this cavern lay a small, shining crystal. The petal landed upon this crystal. As it landed softly, a luminiscence from within the crystal shone briefly to reveal a lock of midnight hair encased within. When the petal touched the crystal, both disappeared into the air. Left behind was a single drop of blood. Years passed, and from this spot grew a rose. Stained with the darkness carried in the crystal and the tears, the rose lost its red colour and was painted, instead, a true black: reflecting nothing and consuming all light. The rose watches, evermore, as the sun hides in cowardice beyond the reaches of the cave. The rays of light have never again fallen upon the earth where grows the only black rose.

This is a pretty interesting story. smile If you expanded on it, it could make a great piece of prose, or even a novel.

This piece is quite interesting. I really love the concept, it's amazingly beautiful and filled with thought-provoking imagery.
If you wanted, you could very easily flesh this piece out and turn it into a longer story, or you could reshape each paragraph so that it falls in a poem form.
One criticism I would give is that there are some spelling errors and run-on sentences that could use fixing. Other than that, the piece is lovely. smile
