I was checking my email this morning and I happen to get Google Alerts regarding anything PlayStation. Then I came across this story....

http://ps3.kombo.com/article.php?artid=10188

June 18th, Metal Gear Solid will be releasing on the PSN for the same price as Final Fantasy VII and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. How many plan on buying it!? I've never had a chance to play it, but always heard it was an excellent game. 3nodding

Just thought I'd share the news.

I got it when I bought the MGS essential pack.

Though I am very happy to see that Sony is finally getting more PSone games on the PS store. Also the prices are very nice. Especially Suikodens. $5.99 over $100+ any day.

Question for you then. With the MGS Essential pack, did they upgrade the graphics for MGS1? Or did they leave it like it was?

I'm happy they're putting good games on the PSN as well. Especially this one, since I didn't have a chance to play it. 3nodding

No it is the PlayStation version to the core. The box says PlayStation on it and it has PlayStation CDs.

Well, to me, that's not fair.

The GameCube got a remake. T~T
What about the PlayStation fans darn it!? D:

Thanks for the info though. I was thinking of buying the MGS Essential pack a while ago, but didn't know if it was the original version or had updated graphics or what.

They would have to port it over which would cost money. The whole point of the essential pack was to offer a cheap way to get people to play them.

Since the PS2 and PS3 can play PSone discs right off the bat. It would be a hell of a lot cheaper just to make more copies of the PSone game instead of porting over a GC game to work on the PS2. Which would have been a damn hard considering there would be no guarantee it would work on the PS3s over the 60GB version.

Oh, I see what you're saying. Will PSOne discs work on the newer PS3s?

@Si-Shen: I haven't even played the first one, and the first time I will, it'll be on my PSP. Imagine that. xd

Plus I've already heard about having to switch controllers when fighting the character called Psycho Mantis, which is easy to do on PSP. 3nodding

Yes. If they could not then you would not be able to play PS games at all. Considering the PSone games you download from the PS store are just digital copies of the game. There is no modifications made to them.

It would be no different if you ripped a PS game to your computers HDD and played it on an emulator.
