Demonic possession actually interests me quite a bit, and also freaks me the hell out, hence why I haven't watched a lot of the movies out there about possession or exorcism. Something about the writhing, the talking backwards face of true evil thing can still get to me.
Two things to go off of that, fear and possession.
I've read about possession quite a lot in the Vodou readings I've done for my religion class, and its everyday occurrence in the ounfo/hounfo (temple, basically) makes the spirits/loa/lwa of Haiti very real indeed.
As for fear, just thinking about Cthulhu enough can sufficiently blank me out enough. [The things he could do are incomprehensible! Incomprehisible!] /panic
All around good stuff, the phenomena which we fear most could very well have the most power.

I guess I have a pretty strong stomach. Possession doesn't really scare me as I've been exposed to possessed persons and had to help in an "exorcism". Ghosts have never really scared me. I've tried to put myself in situations where I would be faced by the occult and generally I just don't get scared.
I am scared of the dark though... thats the only time I ever really feel antsy.
My favorite thing to research are creation myths and gods and goddesses

The thing that scares me the most are possessions and faery "hauntings". Although I like them for the most part, faery abductions scare me the most! Especially a story I read about a guy who was abducted by them and although he stayed about a month in Faery when he got out of it an old lady greeted him and he asked her who are you? She said nothing and only took him by the hand. He died immediately. It turned out that he was in Faery for a lot more (But you know the time gig there) and the old grandma was Death that had been looking for him. confused
