As O'asis began to move about and become more 'physical' in his talking and explanation, Annelie couldn't help but once more put on a confused face and quirk a brow. She laced her fingers behind her back and watched silently, blinking now and then as words went through one ear and out the other. What he was saying didn't seem to make much sense, and so she didn't even try.
"Yeah, I guess," she said in attempts to sound convincing in some way or another.
Yansanth crooned and nudged the little bronze. Good, good. You will be a great bronze, Little Trumpeter. I look forward to it, yup!

O'asis became very aware that he was losing his audience. It was odd, actually. He was used to connecting with people effortlessly, but with Annelie... well, it just seemed like they were two alien races staring at each other from across a vast gulf, trying to shout at each other in separate languages, but getting nothing across. It unsettled him, actually, and he wasn't sure what he could do to improve the situation.
For a start, maybe, he needed to stop talking. Quite awkward now, O'asis let his hands fall to his sides. "... Pretty nice out here, isn't it?" he asked, his voice timid and questing.
Quite the opposite with his conversation partner, Uktenath could feel pride welling up inside him. The Queen... she'd told him...!
Mine! Mine! If thoughts could choke, Uktenath wouldn't be able to get a word out. Instead, O'asis felt a nearly-overwhelming wash of emotion from the little dragon, while Uktenath, in unusual character now with this excitement, seemed to be all but dancing on his hind feet, reaching his neck up toward the gold to counter her nudge with a nuzzle of his own. Now he really was trumpeting up at Yansanth, silly with joy. O'asismine, she said I will be great! This bliss Uktenath felt now... it was the best he'd felt since he'd found His! He'd be a great bronze, oh, yes he would - it would be terribly rude to prove Yansanth wrong, after all!
O'asis turned to look to the little dragon, startled by the unusually strong emotions he felt - and then seeing his antics, broke out into a laughing bark of surprise. "Uktenath! What's gotten into you?" he cried out cheerfully, forgetting altogether his sense of disconnect with Annelie. Shards, he'd never seen the bronze act this way!

Did he really just comment on the weather? The weather. ...Annelie didn't know if she should snort, laugh or just stay silent. She also didn't know if his sudden, interestingly awkward change of topic was due to his part of the conversation or hers. Did she really suck that much at conversing? ... Yes. Definitely YES.
But any more awkwardness was whisked away as Uktenath suddenly had such a fit of Happy that it was completely laughable.
Bringing a hand to her mouth, Annelie smiled and giggled at the little bronze trumpeting away and literally dancing about. She hadn't payed too much attention to what Yansanth had told him, but... it certainly made the joy flow. "It seems Yansanth certainly found Uktenath's Happy Button," she commented, still smiling.
The laughter from Annelie transferred to Yansanth and vice-versa as the Queen, too, became delighted at the little dragon's sudden swing. She crooned loudly, and shifted her position to better lower her head towards the Trumpeter.
She nudged him once more, giving almost some sort of purring sound as well as an occasional grunt that was probably some sort of audible laugh. You are very spirited, little one! Definitely great.

Happy button? "Shards, ask her what it is!" O'asis exclaimed - perhaps a little too earnestly, because he really would like to know what it was that made Uktenath so happy. Just because she'd told him he would be great? There had to be more to this trick than that!
While Uktenath gradually regained his composure. Even so, the little bronze was alight with determination now; he held himself poised, but energetically. For a moment, even the fact that he had been so tired after the long walk was forgotten as he beamed his happiness up at Yansanth, baring his teeth with ferocious joy.
I will be my best, he told the Queen happily, and my best will be great. Mine will help me. And I will ask Hanumanth- ah, now he committed, of course he would ask Hanumanth! - so that I will know the way!
And now he was more eager than he could remember feeling ever. The bronze turned his head to His, prodding at him, Mine, when can we go to meet Hanumanth?
"Uh? I don't know - when we get back to the Weyr, maybe, we can ask after him," O'asis answered, a bit surprised. Did Uktenath want to leave Yansanth already, so soon after she'd made him so happy?
But no; the bronze obviously had no intention of leaving just yet. Instead, he moved over to press against the Queen, settling himself against her side before dropping down to rest. O'asis had been right, he decided; this was an excellent place to nap.

"That's all she said -- that he'd be great," Annelie replied, a happy smile still on her face. She readied herself to give her shoulders a shrug, but a nudge from a large golden head knocked her in the side.
Oh Annelie, isn't he just the cutest thing? Yansanth exclaimed happily, some sort of motherly-love gushing up at every word. She quickly glanced back at Uktenath laying at her side, as if to make sure he was still there, then she turned back to Hers as Annelie regained her composure.
The Queen gave a soft, trilling croon, and then lowered her head close to Annelie's once more. Can I have one? I want one, Mine. They're so cute... Oh I really would love to have one she cooed quietly, hushing her words enough to give her and Annelie a more one-on-one and private conversation.
At that, though, Annelie immediately blushed and blinked rather... stupidly. "Yeah. uhh..." she bumbled, staring at the blue faceted eye just inches from her face.
Let's....talk about all that later, OK, Yan?
But Annelie --
"Noo nooo, not the time right now, Dear..." Annelie mumbled, putting on a false, happy face like there was no some-what awkward conversation (awkward in her opinion, anyways) going on between them. She gave Yansanth a few scratches on the eyeridges, which seemed to change the Queen's train of thought.
"Sooo...I see Uktenath is um.. confortable...?" The young woman looked back to O'asis, and Yansanth glanced once more down at the little bronze against her side.

Bemused, O'asis agreed, "He quite seems to be, doesn't he?" Would it be wrong for him to be jealous of the affection the gold was getting? Probably, he decided - but shards, Uktenath never went like this around him!
The bronze cracked open one eye, focusing it balefully on His. You are not a Queen, Mine, he informed his lifemate firmly, before letting the eyelid close again. Queens received a very particular brand of attention, particularly ones who were as big and wise and kind as Yansanth, and it would not make sense if he were to treat His in such a manner. He expressed his affection appropriately for each person, the bronze felt, and that was well enough.
"Hah," O'asis answered with a silly grin. Of course, that would explain everything. Uktenath always did have a special respect for the little Queen in his clutch as well, and apparently, that meant he was willing to act silly and cozy, when with any other dragon or person, all he'd care about was maintaining his dignity and control. It made sense for the bronze - if he revered the golds as being creatures of such high rank, after all, what was the point in trying to assert himself around them? Particularly an older gold like Yansanth, who he must view as nearly god-like!
Scouting about a few moments, O'asis found a smooth-ish patch of ground in the shade and plopped his rump down, stretching out his legs in front of him. "He's got a good idea, at least. Feels like naptime to me." Yawning to accentuate his point, he stretched his arms and dropped back onto the coolness of the ground, wondering for a moment how tired he actually was, and how much of what he felt was Uktenath's weariness crossing over to him. Probably, actually falling asleep would be pretty rude, but that didn't mean he couldn't rest up just a few minutes....

Annelie stood awkwardly for a few moments, looking about to each body with jerky head movements. Everyone had began to fall asleep, or at least become incredibly drowsy. With a few blinks up towards the sky, Annelie glanced quickly at the sun. Perhaps it was the heat that sent on such a sleep spell. Even Yansanth had lowered her head to the ground after giving a last, happy chortle.
Annelie? Annelie, I am not sleeping -- a spell? The sun is spreading a spell? Yansanth lifted her head and stared at Hers, suddenly worried.
The woman couldn't help but give a momentary, confused look at the gold, however. What? N-no, no, Yansanth --
But Mine, the whole Weyr can't fall asleep now...
Yansanth.
If they all fall asleep, nothing will get done and what if an emergency happens and they ---
Yansanth....
can't attend to it because they're all asleep! Annelie --
Yansanth Annelie said calmly for the fourth time, but she poked the fretting Gold's nose with a sharp finger to regain attention. It was figure of speech; there's no spell.
The Queen brought her head back a foot and her eyes became green once more as she pondered what had just happened. One could probably see the wheels turning up there in her head, but... sadly there weren't many. Wait... speech has figures? Annelie, why haven't I ever seen these? When I speak, I don't see anything at all...
Ooookaaaaaaaayyy....
"I think it really is um... nap time. Now. Right now," Annelie muttered, reflecting back on what O'asis had said earlier. Ignoring Yansanth's new influx of questions on words having visible, real figures, Annelie walked up the gold's foot and foreleg and then settled in with her back against the dragon's chest and shoulder.
Nap. Time.
Now.
