Humankin stuff Goes here Name: Poke (last name? "shrugs") Age: 21 Height: 4'8 Appearence: umm, jeans, t-shirt, brown hair, hazel eyes, and AWSOMENESS! Personality: Poke tries her best to be a strong fighter, but never lets her job stop her from doing what she believes is right. Also one to make fun of a tight situation, she is sometimes to quick to jump into a fight. Nation: Nakadrak History: Poke grew up on the island of Rhecki and then journeyed to the mainland, still keeping with the Akarmen territory. She then joined up with two bounty hunters and began learning the trade. For what better occupation then one which pays to find all the bad guys, in a time of war? As of yet, poke has not disovered her kulgenki. Kulgenki...
Just...what where they, anyway?
the thought ran through the girls head for the millionth time that day. She took a sip of the drink she had ordered from the bar, and sat back in her seat watching the children play outside. They were playing with a ball, all trying to get a turn at kicking it. Out of the 6 kids, there was one who had already found his "daemon" as she had heard some people refer to their kulgenki. This one was the form of a small pup, who was also running around madly, barking loudly and trying to bite down on the ball with its teeth.
It wasn't hard to tell what it was. For one, it stayed close to only one of the kids, and for another, every once in a while the pup's feet seemed to spark with electricity, causing the kids, or the pup itself, to jump. It was rather funny to watch.
Her attention was then brought back to reality. The guy sitting at the table across from her had gotten up and walked out of the bar. She took out the piece of paper she had in her pocket to make sureshe was tailing the right person. Yup, couldn't mistake him for anyone else
The guys name was "Glkerth"; an ork who also was a petty criminal. He stole items straight from the shop windows, and if anyone tried to follow or catch him, he would beat them senseless. Other than that he was just a big bully. Although, she could not figure out why anyone hadn't taken up the bounty themselves...
Getting up, she followed him down the road. He didn't seem to have a destination in mind, and in fact looked like he was finding another store to rob. Poke was about to lunge when the orc suddenly made a run for it. She ran after him. It was a short chase. for he tried to make turns up different alleyways between the shops and soon came to a dead end.
"Alright you b*****d..." poke spoke to him for the first time "I'm taking you in as a bounty, so I hope you'll be a good boy and just give up. Glkerth turned around, a bit startled at who had spoken. Taking one look at her he started to laugh.
"What?? a little girl like you" he chortled some more in a rusty voice, like he wasn't very attuned to speaking. "you couldn't even stop my little pinkie from squishy you like a bug, let along take me in for a bounty."
It took alot of self control on pokes part not to shout out a string of profanities at this guy. It was a typical reaction, and one that, if she was lucky, would be complete reversed once she had taken them to Gaol. She homed in on the guy, taking out from a specially made sling on her back her primary weapon of use; A long, wooden staff that was about 2 meters long. The guy seemed stupefied, and poke just smiled before letting out a loud yell and then charging forwards with a swift stab to his neck.
This seemed to make him want to move, but not before he felt the pain of the wooden object against his jugular. It may of been made of wood, but it didn't stop him from holding his neck where she stabbed him. He was then sent another stab to his exposed ribs, and then the girl brought the stick around in a swing to make a hit at his kidneys.
"GOD! OW WOULD YOU QUIT THAT?!" he shouted, backing away into the wall. "That really hurts...."
"That’s the whole point..." poke replied, stepping back and placing the staff over her shoulders. "Have enough yet?"
Instead of responding, the orc just glared and placed two fingers to his mouth, letting out a strong, loud whistle. Now it was pokes turn to look mystified, but not for long. She whizzed around in time to see a large shaggy object running towards her, and she barely had the time to step out of the way.
"...Of course..." poke sighed in exasperation as the Boar Kulgenki stepped up next to his partner, and Glkerth just stood there looking like he had already won the battle

A screech and the boar was charging again. Using her staff as a pole vault poke was able to jump over the creature and then once landed she brought around and behind her in order to smack the creature. It squealed, but that was about it. Again poke was forced to jump out of the way of the animal as it turned around and charged. At least it was predictable…
“Had enough girly?” the orc laughed again. “If you’re really nice to me, I might just let you off with a warning”
“Shove it in your ear!” poke jumped again over the creature and stood back while it stopped and sized her up, it’s left hoof beating the ground like a bull about to charge. Poke looked behind for another escape. Looking at Glkerth, she got a better idea instead…
She wagged her behind at the boar to egg it on before running forwards, straight at the orc. Her staff out she swung it around to smack at his stomach. It seemed to wind him, but not before he had grabbed the staff and ripped it from pokes grip. “Now what are you gonna do?” He teased, but then paused and looked to see his own Kulgenki ploughing straight into him, and into the wall.
“Serves you right…” poke watched the stunned duo, feeling proud of herself for finally taking down a crook and his kulgenki. She was about to fetch her staff when the two suddenly sat up, Glkerth rubbing his head and looking angry. So much for a easy win…
“Nowwww you’re gonna get it you b***h….” He flexed his muscles, and she could hear from her spot the cracks in his bones. His boar stood up and hissed his displease…wait a sec, hissed? boars don’t hiss….
Both turned to look at the sounds the boar was apparently making. Poke then gave a sudden shout and fell backwards as a long, slender looking animal slithered forward, with another much larger animal bounding forward besides poke. In a few seconds it was over. The orc was pinned on the ground by the larger beast, and the Boar was again squealing and clawing at the ground while being constricted.
“Wow…. 4 bounties in one week!” A man walked into the alleyway carrying some rope. He appeared to be a tall fellow, with short brown hair that seemed to be untameable by any brush. Another person walked into the alleyway with handcuffs, this one a short woman with long hair that could almost be considered white. Once they had tied and handcuffed the orc and boar they realised they weren’t the only ones here
“Oh…hi poke, having fun playing Good guys and bad guys?” the man asked her
Whatever reservations of her acting mature and good natured flew out the window.
“Those bounties…” Poke sat up on the ground rubbing the bump on her head, and then sprang to her feet almost shouting. “Those bounties were mine!”
“Were yours” The women now corrected her. “But you j ust seemed to have so much trouble taking them down, we thought you needed a little help”
“So much help that you took not only the bounty, but the rewards that went with them?” poke replied coldly. Her reply was a shrug, a little chuckle, and the two walked out with their prisoners in tow.

After the scuffle, the group headed back to the bounty hunters office; a small tavern that was mostly used by other hunters who’d come and go, see what was on offer or collect rewards for people they’ve captured.
Inside, the two dumped their bounty in front of Morgan, who looked at them with an annoyed expression. “Another one, huh?” he asked them.
“Yes sir” they both said.
The two people who stood discussing their rewards where called Rackis, and Flamie. Both were well known Bounty hunters who’s methods weren’t always admirable. Sometimes they were seen as a royal pain, as they had very low regards of anyone but themselves. Their favourite thing to do was to swoop in and take someone else’s bounty when they deemed the crook had been weakened enough for a quick kill. It was hard though to pick a fight with them. Their kulgenki proved to be quite intimidating. Flamies was a larger than normal Cobra with the element of darkness, while Rackis have a large black hound with the element of fire.
Meanwhile, poke sat herself down at the bar and watched, looking very annoyed. As she contemplated multiple ways to taken them down, a bowl of Peaches was pushed her way. She looked around to see a Blond haired women smiling brightly at her. Poke smiled back, and took one of the peaches. “How’s it going Zoe?” She asked.
“Alright, I suppose” taking one of the peaches herself, zoe joined her comrade in watching and contemplating.
“so, I believe that because of how tough Glkerth was, and he even had a kulgenki to boot, that 15 gold coins each would be a reasonable enough reward” Rankis said boldly to Morgan as he finished writing up his record book. “What do you say, old man?”
Morgan, who had shaggy white hair and a small beard to boot, sat back in his seat and regarded the two.
“I may be old, but I’m not senile. There is a set reward for these two and its 15 gold coins total. Don’t try to weasel yourself more pay when there is naught to be had” Morgan brought out three small satchels, and passed two of them to them. “Here are 5 gold coins each, and 5 for poke over there”. He then threw the bag of coins in pokes direction, where she caught it and quickly placed the bag in her pocket.
“Thanks morgan!” she called back
Evidently Flamie did not seem too impressed about this. Neither did Rankis for that matter.
“W-what is the meaning of this?!” She asked the old man. “Why did you pay her? She didn’t bring in the bounty, nor did she take down the criminal!”
“Because I happen to know she had been tracking him down since yesterday and without her you wouldn’t have had a clue where to find him! Now you better keep ya traps shut otherwise I’ll sic Gertrude on you”
“Excuse me? How dare you threaten us with your silly little frog! And how dare you make up such allegations towards us??”
“Because I have no time for people who are too lazy to do their own tracking! GERTRUDE!” He bellowed.
The whole bar went silent at his call, then most jumped back as what appeared to be a giant Toad jumped onto the Table, Gurgling its displeasure at the two. Both jumped up and scrambled for the doorway, with both their kulgenki trailing and just as much in a hurry to escape. Afterwards the whole place burst into an uproar of laughter at their antics.
“I’ll never get sick of watching those two run for their lives from Gertrude” Zoe breathed out
“Well, they deserve it after their antics today” Morgan nodded solemnly, and patted his Kulgenki affectionately.
Poke was too busy still laughing to make any comments.

"What?? Those two bounties they stole were yours??" Poke said, and then groaned and shook her head, while Zoe just nodded and took another peach.
"It's a good thing I have this as my part time job...otherwise I'd be in so much trouble....I don't know how you're able to cope"
"With alot of begging...”
There were a few good reasons why poke was good friends with zoe. For one, she got discounts on orders since she helped zoe on when she was taking in bounty. For another, she hadn't found her own kulgenki yet, and it was always good to have someone who knew how you felt.
"I don't know why you put up with those two" Morgan came over to see how the two were doing. He had became good friends with them since they hung out at the bar so much. Poke even had a small room upstairs which she had claimed for herself and paid for with the bounty she gained.
"Actually, I don't" She replied. "But they don't care so it doesn't matter."
Zoe looked disheartened. "I wish we had our kulgenki...we could become so much stronger, and we could fight back." Out of the two, she seemed more worried how she hadn't found hers, and also fretted about becoming an "unfortunate".
"Don't worry lass, it's only a matter of time before you find yours, and then you can show those bafoons a thing or to." Nodding to himself he checked his watch. "And it's just about time for your shift to be finsihed, so why don't you go out and have yourself a good time at the festival? I hear Jamis will be there as well."
"Theres a festival?" poke asked, generaly confused as she didn't remember seeing many people around preparing for a festival
"It's on the other side of town! ohh I almost forgot, thank you for reminding me!" grabbing poke by the hand, she raced out of the bar looking excited, for there were always something interesting to find at a festival.

When they arrived, the night-time festival was already in full swing. Actors, magicians and performers where in the street and putting on a great show, while people had set up stores in order to sell exotic wares. All around there could be seen exotic animals of every kind, which was what was most intriguing to poke.
"Wow, I think I see a unicorn Kulgenki!"
"WHAT??, where??"
"Oh, sorry It was just a horse"
poke did a double take when she also thought she saw a dragon, but it was only a large green iguana. Zoe also seemed most interested in the cute and fluffy kulgenki, like a ferret who delighted in trying to trip her over instead of letting itself be cuddled.
"I think that my kulgenki will be soft, and fluffy, and it will have amazing healing powers!" Zoe told poke as she was finally able to pick it up (with permission from its humakin of course).
"Well...." poke took a bite out of the kebab she bought from a store. "I think mine will be really strong, and be able to take out any other opponent! Although healing abilities I have to admit would be great...and I wouldn't mind it being cuddly"
"But as long as it can take down Rankis and Flamie, right?" Zoe smiled at the thought.
"As if anything you two could muster would take Us down" From behind a stand they emerged, both holding large fairy flosses.
"Holy...WERE DID YOU GET THOSE, I WANT ONE!"
After some arguing, sarcasm, barking, hissing and a few more choice words, the group managed to stop their bickering when they noticed the crowd had all stopped and were looking at something on the road. Curious, they walked over to see what was going on.
"Zoe you made it!" A man came running over to the group, pleased to see his friend. His hair was of a sandy colour, with his clothes, general pants and shirt, were of a light brown as well. On his shoulder sat a small peregrine falcon, who nodded in greeting..
"What the heck is going on?" Rankis asked
"Apparently there’s a group of mercenaries in town, accompanying a group of "lost travellers", which everyone is doubting. There are rumours that these people came from Kutyrin territory, and are spies"
poke already looked sceptical. "What kind of idiot pops up in the middle of a festival in hopes to spy on people? besides, I don't remember there being a law that people couldn't travel between countries"
"poke, would you be stupid enough to go over to Kutyrin in a time of conflict?" Flamie asked her. "They are the enemy, and they should be arrested before they can do any harm"
"Flamie, would you kindly stop thinking of others as people you can arrest for bounty?" Annoyed, poke stepped through the crowd in order to get a better look at these people

On first glance, she could already tell they were harmless. There were a few adults, all looking well dressed but not armed, most likely merchants, and a few more children were playing a small game of tag, ignoring the looks that the adults were giving them.
There was one person though, that made poke look again with a frown. This man appeared to be one of the "mercenaries" that their friend with the bird had mentioned. He was a very tall man with a imposing figure, dressed in a bloody red jacket and pants, some light shoulder armour present. At his side was strapped a sword. He wore his long, dark red hair in a pony-tail kept low, and he cast a glare at all he could see.
Suddenly he walked forward, and looked down at a small child before him, holding onto what looked like a small silver bracelet.
"Hey, kid, where did you get that bracelet......" The child looked up and smiled, holding it out. "My mommy bought it for me!"
"hmph, I sincerely doubt that. Your mother probably swindled her way into a few extra goods by bargaining. I should probably take her in for a bounty" He made as if he was going to take the bracelet, but then was stop by a "hold on a second!", and an angry zoe stepped up to the mercenary.
"Exactly what do you mean by picking on a small child like that!" she said, while the child looked up at the grown-ups with wide eyes. "Telling her that her mother is a swindler, when you don't even know her, and then saying you're going to arrest her..What kind of jest is that?!".
"Excuse me, but...who are you again, and who are you to interrupt when I’m talked to someone else?" He looked down on the woman, whom glared back at him. The child now hid behind Zoe, while poke looked on. She wanted to jump in but, she was sure Zoe would be fine by herself. That guy wouldn’t be fool enough to attack her in a place like this, would he?
The two glared for a few more seconds, before the mercenary merely “hmph”ed, and walked away to examine some of the other people. Poke now took this as an opportunity to go up and congratulate Zoe on her ability to stand up against someone else.
“That was awesome Zoe! I’m impressed….” Poke then stopped, and looked around as did zoe. Everyone that was there, including the mercenary, were now staring at them. Wondering why they looked down the kid and then gasped. The bracelet, whom the child was holding, was now giving off a faint glow.
“what’s happening?”
“I dunno”
“it’s someone’s kulgenki!”
“which one though?”
“Could…I hold that bracelet?” Zoe asked the child gently. She nodded, and then placed the item in Zoe’s hands. For a second, the glowing vanished, but then suddenly there was a small outburst of energy from the bracelet. There was a quiet “oooooo” from the crowd, and then in front of zoe appeared a very small cream coloured kitten kitten.

A few days after the arrival of Zoe's kitten kulgenki, the mercenary made another appearance. This time, he came directly to their tavern.
Zoe kept a close watch on her new found friend, and beamed as Abby, as she called her, was busy tormenting poke while she tried to wipe up some dishes.
"Oy! come on I need to use that dish-cloth" poke tried to grab at the item while the kitten merely ran away from her, across the tabletop, and hid behind some dirty dishes. Poke grinned; she was a very cute little cat, and while somewhere deep inside she felt saddened that Zoe had found hers before she could, she felt grateful for her friend who seemed to make sure poke got to look after Abby almost as much as herself did.
She saw a chance to grab at the material, but Abby was too fast. Again she was stumbling across the tabletop towards Zoe, but was stopped when a rogue hand picked her up by the scruff of her neck.
"I see your making good use of your new kulgenki" The mercenary sneered, examining Abby while she hung motionless in the air.
"Excuse me, but can I help you?" Zoe asked and stepped towards him and holding out her hands, expecting him to give back her kulgenki. "Mister, um -"
"Jameth. I was hoping to find some decent bounties, but from what I can see, none of these suit my abilities." He eyed the bulletin board with some displeasure, while zoe frowned and waited, until he dropped Abby back into her hands, where she hugged her tight.
"Well sorry sir that there aren't any high paying bounties" poke put down the plate she was holding. "we'll just go ask the local criminals to stir up a ruckus so you can have a better selection."
"was I talking to you, girl?" Jameth looked down on poke while she stared at him back, until a quiet "crroaakk" was heard. Gertrude hopped into view, followed by Morgan. He regarded the new-comer closely.
"If you’re looking for a high paying bounty, then perhaps this shall better suit your purposes" he showed him a new piece of paper. "Apparently a merchant ship is leaving for lufen island, and the merchants are requesting a group of people to guard their ship from pirates. They're paying a high price, since there is a high likely-hood of danger apparently."
"a group of people, huh?" Looking at the paper, Jameth gave a nod and slipped the paper into his pocket. "Good, I just happened to find a few people who would be willing to help me, but I don't believe their fire and dark type kulgenki will be of great help."
With barely a glance at them, he strode out of the tavern, leaving Zoe in a huff.
"The nerve of him!" she huffed, and started petting Abby affectingly while she mewed. "Walking around and asking for bounty as if he owned the place! You shouldn't have given it to him"
"True" Morgan said. "But that man is not someone you should mess with, and I wanted him out of this bar as fast as was possible. Besides, he would of found out anyway. I'd imagine rankis and flammie had known about this bounty, but were short some people so they teamed up with the strongest guy they could find."
"How big is the bounty for that?" poke decided to enquire"
"200 gold coins"
"WHAT? TWO HUNDRED??!" jumping up from her seat, poke raced upstairs to grab a few things, and then run back down. "There’s no way in hell I'm letting those two brag about that much pay. I'm gonna go for that bounty too"
Zoe looked at her friend with worry. "But for such a high bounty, they must be expecting alot of trouble. I don't think this is such a good idea..."
"But it's only to the lufen islands, and the weather around there is usually quite good. Plus I haven't heard of pirates being that strong anyway. I'll be fine, don't worry" poke headed out the door with her weapons, and some small food rations, while morgan and Zoe watched her go, not looking to convinced
