 "La, la, la~" Laughter light as crystalline bells filled the air as the dolphin swam and jumped through the calm waters. Sunlight was shining brightly on the sea making it look like a thousand gleaming jewels. It was a wonderful day and Callisto was making sure to fully enjoy it.
Her hair billowed out in a cloud of orange as Callisto sank down on one of her favorite rocks. Callisto's bright blue eyes closed with a smile as she laid in the sunlight. Waves from the rising tide lapped at her fins and she found herself humming softly to the sky. It really was nice and warm here.

A little way out to sea, something large, brown and relatively flat was floating lazily on the waters surface. As it got closer to shore, a soft and whimsical hummed song could be heard floating from the mass. It turned out to be a young manta ray girl, lying on her back, with her wings stretched out, and her eyes shut as she soaked in the sun's warm rays.
On a day where she had no other plans, this was what Airini spent hours doing. Lazily floating until she either ran into something, or it started to get dark. Today, she happened to run into something first. Her tail, which was submerged, brushed against the sea bed as she got closer to shore, and she stopped humming, opening her eyes and lifting her head.[color=#FF9933] [/color]

Bright blue eyes opened to gaze at something strange. At first the dolphin thought it was just a piece of driftwood, but then it moved. After a moment's study Callisto decided that it was actually a she. She looked so strange! Though Callisto was used to other species of underwater inhabitants but this girl was definitely new to her.
Still that didn't stop the dolphin from grinning, "Seems you've bumped into something here!" Callisto laughed before moving over to roll from her sunning spot. Her next question came without hesitation. "What exactly are you though?"

Rin made a surprised noise, eyes going wide, and turned to look towards the dolphin girl. She stared for a moment, then beamed, and moved closer, "So it would appear!" she called over to her, grinning wider, "I'm a manta! I take you're a...a...dolphin?" she said, sounding a little unsure as she said it, "I haven't met many taur that weren't my kind, sorry," she said sheepishly, now within normal talking distance.

Callisto swam up with renewed interest. "Yes, yes I am a dolphin. Though I do have a name, Callisto." Then the dolphin gasped and shook her head, "No! No! Don't apologize when I didn't even have a clue to your species." Curiosity made Callisto poke Airini's wings and the dolphin giggled. "Your species have such unique body builds. I'm in awe. Can you swim fast with your arms like that?"
Blinking Callisto slowly pulled her hands from the manta's wings. "Sorry...I got a bit carried away there." She giggled and brushed back a stray lock of hair.

Airini didn't seem to mind at all. She just smiled, and looked proud as she lifted her chin slightly, "I was the fasted swimmer out of all the kids I knew," she said, not meaning to boast. But she couldn't help it. "I'm not sure how fast I am compared to other water taur, though, I've never met any until now." She beat her wings once, her tail moving to help her tread water.

Clapping Callisto let out a small squeak of a giggle, "That's amazing!" She flipped over in the water and studied the manta while floating upside down.
Nodding the dolphin finally righted herself and swam around Airini once more, "You know, we could always see how fast you are compared to a dolphin at least."

Airini lifted her head, and grinned, "Yeah? You want to race?" she sounded eager, even a little excited. She always had so much fun when she raced. And Callisto looked like she could be really fast too! Maybe she'd be beaten this time. She could only hope. She wanted to have to try and strive to beat someone for once.

"Yes! I really wanna race." Callisto's tail twitched with excitement. It really had been awhile since someone took up her offer to race. Usually she just swam alone in the waters when it came to passing time. Though she had to admit the thought of that seahorse trying to race highly amused her.
Her giggles bubbled softly in the water as she looked around. "Where should we race too though?" Her eyes darted over the waters, there were so many places to go! Though that coral reef looked interesting to swim towards.

Airini seemed to have a similar idea, because the reef was the first place she pointed. "Just to the edge of it," she said, grinning. She didn't want to risk going in there, and hurting her wings. It was hard for her to maneuver in a place like the reef. "Then after, I'd like to look for shells and things," she said, looking even more excited. She also liked to hunt for trinkets, "Maybe some of those seafaring taur have dropped some things there."

"To the edge it is then!" Callisto giggled and shot forward teasingly before circling back around Airini. "Trinkets? Those are always nice, along with shells." Callisto grinned like a child as she flipped over once more before settling back next to Airini.
"So do we start now?" Her eyes sparkled with eagerness as she fought to contain herself from swimming away right then.

Airini was just as eager, but she hid it fairly well, apart from the wide grin that didn't seem to want to disappear. "Ok...on the count of three." She said, then paused for dramatic effect, glancing at Callisto.
"One..." her grin got wider, and she got into a ready position, "Two..." her tail flicked a little, "Three!" And she shot off, gliding swiftly through the water with her wings outstretched.

A stream of bubbles flew behind Callisto as her tail slapped at the water. Arms to her sides the dolphin sped up and managed to catch up with the manta. Smaller fish darted to the side and seaweed flashed by as a green blur as they raced. One smaller fish of neon colors nearly missed her and Callisto swerved in surprise. "Oh!" The dolphin couldn't help but to let out the soft giggles of amusement as she moved to catch back up.
They were even once more as Calliston realized that the coral was much closer already. 'She's really fast after all!' Looking at Airini, Callisto grinned widely before looking forward once more.

Airini glanced at Callisto, and grinned back. She was fast! The manta was impressed, and wondered if all dolphins could move that quickly. Usually, people of her race prefered to move at slow, leisurely paces. She noticed how close the reef was getting, and darted a little bit upwards, so she wouldn't hit it in her attempt to stop.

Callisto giggled at Airini and pushed herself on. This might be really close! Mused the dolphin before nearly colliding with the reef. In her excitement Callisto had nearly rammed the formations of coral.
Still it was too close and the dolphin found herself distracted as she threw her body away from the sharp edges and into the sand. "Wow!" Giggling nervously Callisto looked up for Airini, "Who won?"
