Why hello my fellow guilders! I haven't been around here for a while, but I'm back now, hopefully for good!
If any of you don't know what busking is, it's when someone preforms on the street for moola (eg. with your guitar and people put money in the case). This makes people more money than you think, if their good!
So me and my sister are starting up Busking for Jesus, where we busking the street, only playing n singing Christian songs. The profits will go towards a selected cause. So far I've found Invisible Children (also see Falling Whistles) and Restavec Freedom. Invisible Children helps free child soldiers. Restavec Freedom helps free "restavecs". The restavec system in Haiti is a thriving one. The word means "stay with" in English. What happens is people of higher status, usually from the Dominican Republic, tell tall tales of better lives for peoples children to Haitians. They then buy a child off of a family and give them hope of a better life of high status. The children are brought back as slaves, suffering either just as much or worse than they were before they were bought. The children are treated like animals and are forced to clean and are abused both physically and usually sexually.
We're trying to find an organization to stop the sex slave trade.
The thing is, we need to find some more causes. We understand that animal cruelty is a terrible thing, but we want to help people; they're more important.
it'd be great if anyone has any suggestions. It'd be better if someone had a suggestion paired with a link to an organization who might help. We'd prefer the organization be Christian so that people are introduced to Jesus as well as being saved from torture. But any organization who will help is a good one.
