Who: Xan, Domo, Alex & Zul
When: Midday
Where: A carnival near the harbor
Weather: Cotton-cloud spotted sky, light breeze

The Italian was, for once, quiet. The whirlwind of emotions she had felt when her eyes settled on the dark Frei had been poignant, her heart clenching in both grief and joy. Alex knew that the charcol-skinned Raevan at her side was not the one who was gone, and it both hurt and relieved her; a pain to know what was lost, but a gentle type of acceptance that there were second chances sometimes. She was hellbent on making sure the other's name was not spoken or even eluded to, treating the striking lead Frei as a new entity all together - one she frequently found herself glancing over to and smiling lightly over, admiring. The mixed emotions made her feel heady, but she had a job to do.

The truck ride to the meeting site had been uneventful; Zul had not left the other's side throughout the duration, seeming to act as he had with LuLu and playing the protector until the other was comfortable enough that they could just chat. The demon Frei was already quite taken with the newborn, finding his twilight-skin and moonshine hair to be most agreeable. The colors of his wings, the shimmer of ice blue, only helped endear the new male to Zul. When his woman didn't have the radio playing, he would speak to the lead Frei, telling him of music and games, flowers and ice cubes, things that probably didn't make any sense to anyone but the Raevan and his Guardian.

His banter eventually faded into surprise as the vehicle had parked and Alex had waited patiently for them in front of the truck. There were...lights, so vivid that even the midday sun did not dim them, and colors! Colors of every hue and saturation imaginable (and some that weren't), painted in flags, posters, garments, whirling baubles that people screamed inside of, wooden constructs that housed people and games, and...games! The Frei had carefully slid out of the truck, hands held up to the darker-skinned Raevan to help him out if need be. "What is this?" he had asked his woman, who simply smiled at his child-like wonder.

"A carnival. C'mon you two, he'll probably see us before we see him."

And so the trio found themselves at the gates of the fabulous meeting point, entering the park grounds and immediately assaulted by the scent of buttered popcorn, roasting hot dogs, sweets, dirt, people and other less savory and less identifiable things.

Zul was amazed. He kept close to the lead Frei's side, brilliant blue eyes trying to absorb every little detail they lighted on. "Will be fun," he remarked, turning his tri-horned head to smile at the newborn. "Lots to do, and we'll do them together." His two-toned hair wafted in the stray breeze that he didn't much feel, but enjoyed the sensation of. The trademark smile with full megawatts remained in place, excitement lighting over his eyes. Why hadn't they been here before?

The woman remained on the opposite side of the lead Raevan, mindful not to touch him but acting as a ward against anyone else who might get to close. Alex took it as a personal goal to see the newborn safetly to his Guardian, and woe befall anyone who might have gotten too close, as she had a temper and knew how to use it. "Stay together," she advised the two with a kind smile, "and we'll go look at some of the games after we find him...after we find Thanatos."

Thanatos was situated in the food court; thankfully set near the entrance of the carnival. It didn't make it hard to spot a woman and two strange floating creatures come into view; from what he was told they were called Raevans. Entities created from a unique fel essence and captured soul. He took in this, as he watched; rather then get up to greet the woman and her charges, he observed them.

Mint eyes feel on the vibrantly colored frei, he seemed excited and new to the scene around him. A soft chuckle escaped his lips as his actions reminded him of a puppy. If he had a tail, Xan was certian it would be wagging rapidly in response. His eyes then fell on the twilight-skinned Raevan. His eyes, hair, wings all of him was quite exotic different in many ways from the other floating next to him, but surprisingly the same.

He seemed to be looking around taking in the sights. It was hard to tell his expression with the mask, was he smiling or did his lips curl down. Tilting his head curiously, he watched some more. Hands pointing at this and that, though he couldn't tell if he were asking anything from his distance. Maybe he should get closer and introduce himself properly. Even as he thought this he stood to his feet and began strolling leisurely toward the woman and her two charges. Just as he got in sight, he stopped short removing his hat to bow slightly at the hip. "Ma'am, you must be Ms. Alex. My names Thanatos, nice to meet you." Keeping his eyes on her so as not to be rude he couldn't help shifting them to the raevan even more curious about this new addition to his home.

Domevlo simply watched wondering what was going on, why were they here and who was the funny person with the hat? Looking between Alex and Zul he held no outward expression that would convey how he felt. In all honesty he didn't feel a thing toward this whole experience outside of pointing to things and asking what they were. Since he didn't know he wasn't sure how to respond to them, though something smelled good and he wanted to find out what it was.

Answers returned the inquisitive pointing, as well as Zul could. He didn't know all the answers yet because he wasn't certain himself; some of the games were rather foreign, and some of the food wasn't like any scent he was familiar with. It was good enough for him that he could answer some things at all, playing their own little game that encouraged the Frei to speak and learn to ask questions early on. As far as he was concerned, all the Raevans should be as inquisitive of what was going on and not except things as blindly as some. Then again, maybe he was just a bit more opinionated when it came to...certain subjects and Raevans...

His blue eyes turned as they were approached - more aware of this than his woman, he was used to it by now - and appraised the stranger. He had no idea what the heck was on his head, but once it was removed, it was easy to take in the man's appearance. White hair, but so long! And such unusual eyes. Zul glanced to the lead Frei, then back to the man who introduced himself as Thanatos, deciding if this was the Guardian, he wouldn't be adverse to releasing the dark Raevan into his care.

"Hm?" She wasn't expecting someone as tall as her brother to approach her, nor was she expecting someone with the name 'Thanatos' to look like such a ch-charming cowboy. Green eyes blinked blankly at the man before her smile formed, pushing aside her own shy reservations and trying to put on a more professional face. "Ah, yes, I'm Alex, very nice to meet you, Thanatos." Since the man didn't offer a hand, she didn't either, instead taking a small step to the side so the man could better observe the dark Raevan. "Thank you for meeting us on such short notice. This is--"

"Zul," he introduced himself. The demon put his hand over his partially formed chest, returning the bow that the man had offered; oh yes, he liked this one! "Nice to meet you, Than'tos." The Raevan quirked his smiling lips and tried again, "Than-at-toes." That was almost as much a mouthful as the Nik-sea-eh woman he'd met at the mall! Humans were such strange and difficult things!

Alex looked between the Guardian and his new charge, biting the inside of her lip. "Um, I'm not sure what you had planned for the day, Thanatos, but before we go, I'd like to get your signature on a form and maybe...a name for our new friend here." She fixed her smile on the lead Raevan, tilting her head to the side curiously. Would it be another one to name himself, like Prajna? Would Thanatos know the name and speak it easily, like LuLu, or did he already consider it, like Iorek? With the Guardians as diverse as the Raevans, she understood a bit better why Zul took such a keen interest in them.

Blinking a few times he watched Alex a moment as she seemed to snap out of herself to greet him. A smile met her when she introduced herself. As she went on to introduce her charge he took the pleasure of doing it for himself. "Zul, nice to meet you too." He offered with another tilt of his head before returning his beloved stetson to his head. A warm laugh emerged at the attempts of his name, not so easy for some to say which he was used to by now, "Just call me Xan. It's much easier that way." He hoped so at least.

Again his eyes fell on the dark Raevan just as he was informed of some papers he needed to sign. "A name?" he thought a moment looking to the Raevan that would soon be in his care. What would be a proper name? He was never good at these things, usually picking whatever came to mind. "Well how about a name there kid?"

Looking at the cowboy, the frei ducked slight behind Zul not sure what to think of this man. "Name?" Was all he could repeat back trying to sort out what that meant. Poking Zul he pointed to Xan. "Name?"

"What," the demonic Frei intoned with more interest than the carnival, "is that?" A tan finger lifted to indicate the hat, his blue eyes wide. Sure, Zul had seen such things on television, but they usually came with guns, carriages, fancy dresses and cheesy bad guys. And spurs, certainly couldn't forget those...and yet, the Raevan saw none of the above in the near vicinity. Everyone knew that what happened on the television didn't happen in real life! So why did this man look like he stepped out of a fairyland of white with the cactus dust still fresh on his heels?!

The Italian gave a low sound that could have been an embarrassed moan. "I'm sorry Thanatos - Xan - he...uh, asks whatever thought occurs to him." She gave her charge a pointed look, which he naturally ignored, uttering a sharp sigh and a shake of her head. Alex wouldn't reprimand him too much just then, not when the lead Frei seemed to be attached to him and the new Guardian was there. No need to give anyone any unnecessary fears of what may or may not happen in the future.

Zul turned his eyes over his shoulder as the dark-skinned Frei was suddenly behind him. His wings remained close to his back, slightly opened enough to act as a sort of shield for the younger Raevan. "Name. My name is Zul." He pointed to himself, then pointed to his woman. "Her name is Alix." The hand moved to the tall strange-hat-man, "And he is...Xan." Nicknames! Why did they have to be so darn confusing and not anywhere near the person's original name? The Raevan smiled as he turned just a little, enough to indicate the lead Frei's white chest. "You need a name too."
PostPosted: Mon Jun 01, 2009 8:19 pm

"Need name too?" The frei couldn't quite grasp it but followed Zul as he pointed to each person then gave what he assumed was a name. A name? Was that what the others were called by those names? Looking at Xan then at Alex and back to Zul he thought a moment. What did he want to be called? Shaking his head he had no clue, looking at the hat-man with a slight glint of annoyance. He was asked first...

After watching the transaction for a while, Xan sighed, he figured the frei wouldn't quite grasp what was going on. Not a problem he had learned from experience that his charges had a way with naming their selves. But maybe this time he could take the initiative. "Domevlo." He spoke softly, as he moved forward with a soft gate, holding out his hand. "Can I call you Domevlo?"

The frei tilted his head looking back to Alex. Was this okay? He wondered, could he be called, "Do..do... meh.. lo?" He tried but it wasn't easy to pick up right away. "Do...meh...lo." Frustrated with the lengthiness he glared at Xan for such a name. Somehow he liked the challenge of learning to say it at least, so he wouldn't give it up. It was his name now, no one else. "Mine!"

With a soft chuckle Xan turned to Alex. "I believe we have a winner." With a wink to the newly awarded Domevlo, he smiled. "Apologies, kid, but once ya get that name rollin on ya tongue, I'll be teaching you a lil' more."

"Doooooooo...mehlo! Domeh'lo!" This was as it would be for a while, a challenge was always fun, right? "Name mine.... Domeh'lo!"

Alex inclined her head to Xan as she was spoken to, making a mental note of the name: Domevlo. A brief moment of heartache lingered before the sadness she held finally evaporated into the cool midday air, whisked off to the blue sky. Her vivid green gaze lingered fondly on the freshly named Domevlo, her smile growing as he tried to pronounce the interesting but suitable name. "I like it," she offered to the dark-skinned Frei as he looked at her, nodding at his efforts with encouragement.

"Are there any questions or concerns you might have?" she again turned her attention to Xan, smile still intact. "I'm not sure how long I can keep a leash on Zul now that he's got it in his head that he can have playtime." It was true; she could tell her charge was already dismissing the humans in favor of exploring the grounds and making friends with the unique Frei.

In truth, the demon was a bit miffed that his question had been ignored, deciding the hat was just...just silly and thus didn't need an answer! Instead, he had turned his full attention onto the newly named Raevan, his smile warming on his features until his teeth showed in a bemused grin. "Domovello?" he offered up completely unhelpful, laughing with pleasure at the newborn's attempts that were much more earnest than his own.

Bone wings clicked against the rings piercing the marble webbing, tilting his tri-horned head as he continued to listen. Who knew a name could be so entertaining? "Vee," he laughed again, pointing to his mouth, making a show of his teeth grazing over his lower lip while pronouncing the missing letter. Not that he actually knew if it was supposed to be pronounced or not, but it was more the idea of having fun than anything, making a humming 'v' sound in his amusement. "Do you want to play games, Dom'vl-o?"

Names did seem to be fun, but for Domevlo it wasn't all fun and games as he frowned toward his guardian. The man and that thing on his head was ... strange. What was it. Curiously he moved closer to reach for it. Xan blinked eyeballing Domevlo before he realized what the other was after. "Ah this is my hat, it's called a Stetson." Removing it from his head he placed it on Domo's head smiling. "Looks good on ya, kid."

Domevlo grunted moving the hat to inspect it before something Zul had said took his attention from the hat to the festivities around him. That was right, they were at a carnival? A place with lots of lights and sounds and smells. Again he turned his attention to Zul setting the stetson back on his head. "Play? Domeh'lo play okay?"

Xan chuckled seeing how his hat would not be returned so quickly. Turning to Alex he smiled with a soft dip of his hip. "Is there anything else you need from me ma'am? I'm not sure how much longer the "kids" are willing to stay put."

Zul snorted quietly as the Xan-man reacted to Domevlo, although he didn't hold it against the human, not entirely; the Raevan was his charge now, and naturally he'd pay more attention to him. It almost made him rue the fact that his own Guardian seemed to pay everyone mind. Whatever the Stets-son was, it's not like he could wear it, he had horns.

As the newborn turned to him again, he was all grins, nodding and pointing out at the games he recognized: a tossing game, a hit-the-bell-strength game and a fishing game amongst them. "Domeh'lo play with Zul," he agreed, finding talking about himself in the third person quite funny. "Is that okay with Domeh'lo?" There was no harm in using the name extensively so the newborn would know it was his, and no harm in reminding him of his own at that. He floated within distance to brush arms as he talked, but was not making any attempt at being his space-bubble-imploding self just yet.

The woman did her best not to stare; apparently pale hair was a weakness, one the long-haired gentleman was exploiting unconsciously like Aphismet and a certain doctor she knew. Just the thought of the doctor made Alex purse her lips, coming back to herself enough to give Xan a wide, warm smile. "No sir, just a signature but the papers are in my truck. If you think you can drag either of them out of the carnival for that, be my guest," she laughed with genuine amusement, "otherwise we can wait until we're done here. If you don't mind, that is."

She certainly didn't want to assume that it was okay to spend the afternoon with a strange woman and her excitable charge, but it chouldn't hurt to ask. Alex enjoyed getting to know the other Guardians and Raevans, and these two - the unique circumstances thereof - were no exception.
PostPosted: Sun Jun 14, 2009 10:51 am

Xan saw no harm in spending time with the woman and her charge, after all she was kind enough to meet him here of all places and with a rather interesting treat through Domevlo. "After ma'am, I figurin' it's best we let the kiddies play for a bit to drain that energy before we get to business. I'm not at all sure how this goes but maybe with a little support I can learn from your example..." He tipped his hat low covering a slight blush for being so forward. "If that's all fine and dandy for ya?" Truth be told he was just a guy that rolled with the punches letting life drag him along as he took it all in with strides. More or less he felt this new addition to his home would only pull him along just like every high powered individual that lived with him. But he had always wanted a family, Domevlo was the cherry on the cake at this point.

Domo on the other hand had his eyes trained curiously on all the games. His ear twitching whenever Zul had something to say about the games. He was in full state of curiosity. By the time the two had stopped they were standing in front of a game with guns and strange colorful balls that popped when filled with water. Looking to Xan he pointed. "What that?" It looked fun, and he wanted to use the 'things' too and pop the weak balls. "Play?" He asked or maybe demanded it was hard to tell at this point. Shoving through the crowd he peered at the game as another line of people began. They shot water out of some thing that hit strange faces and made the balls grow and pop. Yes! He wanted to try, make balls pop too. "Play play!"

The woman was fairly stunned at Xan's blush, but it made her a bit more open to him, nodding with a warm smile in return. "Sounds like a plan. Zul and I are still learning new things about each other everyday, so don't feel like there's a certain, unyielding way for things to be done, okay?" Alex lightly patted the man's arm, fingers curling around his elbow for just a moment to indicate they should follow their charges before the two took off. The hand returned to her side and her eyes moved to the Raevans, heart swelling with joy at the sight of the two interacting; she had a feeling that the demon would be one of the only ones to accept Domevlo as who he was in this incarnation.

"Each of them are different, there's no one method to adjusting," she laughed apologetically, glancing to the hatless cowboy again, "so it's going to be a learning process for Kyou and I too. And, ah, I'll give you my card before we go, so you can call me at anytime if you need something." The Italian happily took a skipping step towards the booth the two were currently engrossed in, tugging a bill out of her pocket and sliding it to the barker so they might play.

The demon followed the darker-skinned newborn so he didn't lose sight of him, not bothering to answer since the question wasn't directed at him. His bright gaze turned thoughtfully over the water balloons and the spray of wetness that came with each successful hit, amused that Domevlo would take an interest in a seemingly loud and violent game first. Then again, Zul himself had rather favored the shooting games, the fast racing games that were more exhilerating than blocks of text.

He floated next to Domevlo, picking up one of the unused guns, glancing over to his woman as he felt it come to life with the flow of water; at her nod, he again looked to his masked companion, handing the gun to him. "You want to play?" he inquired, quite possibly one of the first times he'd ever put his own desires aside. Zul wanted to try it too, but it was possible that he also wanted to see just how the lead Raevan would fare.
PostPosted: Fri Jun 19, 2009 9:15 pm

"Play? Yes!" Domo interjected at the reply. "Want play." He said again smiling under his mask, it was possible he wasn't sure what he was about to play but he would follow the lead of the others that played with him. That was the best he could do for now at least until he learned on his own. "Play." He repeated as if this would move people along so he could get his turn.

Xan smiles watching the two Raevan's curiously, they were quite a wonderful set, he couldn't wait to meet others but for now was content with meeting Zul and his own charge. Turning to Alex he gave a charming smile thinking about all the fun he'd have with Domevlo. "I take it's not easy either way you look at it. That's okay though if I have any questions I'll be sure to ask..." As if a thought did come to mind he turned to the woman with a curious grin. "Um... should there be something I need to know about Domevlo. Like well... what IS he exactly? You say that each of them are different what makes them so different and yet the same?" This was quite a curious thought as he turned mint eyes upon Zul and Domevlo. He watched them closely noting the ribbons, the way they were colored differently, hair, eyes, skin, and those strange glowing runes. What did all of it mean?

The demon grinned widely. "Then we play," he replied with simple triumph, floating behind Domevlo. "I'm going to show you how told hold this - then Domeh'lo can play. Okay?" Zul momentarily beat his bone wings to steady himself, mindful of the lead Frei's own before settling behind him without touch. He carefully moved the rifle-like gun to nestle the butt against the other Raevan's shoulders, gloved hands moving to try and guide the newborns. "Have to be careful, and aim, so you win. Winning is important."

Alex gave Xan a strange smile, nodding a little in understanding at the inquiry. Her mind brought a very different answer to that question, and carefully picking her words, she gave him the best response she could. "Raevans are made of two base materials," she started, her voice low so the two Frei's could not over-hear her. "A soul and a fel essence. The soul is exactly what it sounds like - the living matter of just about anything you think of that isn't man-made." She gave him a small smile at that; there were a lot of people that had a hard time grasping that part, let alone the next!

"A fel essence is...something you'd never find in nature, not naturally, or something that shouldn't exist as an item itself. For example," her green eyes flicked to the two, "Domevlo's is Unstable Lead. I'd say that's where he gets his coloring from, but you'll see that a lot of the Raevan's don't show their essence just in skin - sometimes it's in their clothes, or sometimes it's only in the power they display. Yes - they will have powers." Alex chuckled at that, wondering what the newborn would learn as time went on.

After a brief moment of hesitation, she leaned in even closer, her voice dropping to a soft lilt. "His soul is mixed. Unicorn and...a Raevan that's no longer with us." Her expression was somewhat hard despite the gentle tone of her voice, as though she really didn't want to talk about it. "I wont go into details because it's not anything that will affect Domevlo. I'm telling you because the other Guardians and Raevans knew the other Raevan, and although they've all been informed..." Strong shoulders lifted and dropped in a shrug. "He looks different enough you shouldn't have too much trouble."
PostPosted: Sat Jul 04, 2009 9:59 am

Domo watched carefully as Zul demonstrated the workings of the game. His eyes closing to mere slits as if seriously concentrating on an important matter. His demeanor had shifted ever so slightly as equine wings flicked once or twice before falling low on his back then popping up wide when the first shots were fired. As the game continued he watched Zul a secret smile hidden by his mask shown through to his amber eyes as they lit up with anticipation of the game. Domevlo definitely wanted to play now. This toy, this thing was currently zapping all of his attention, enough that he did not care one iota about the guardians and there secret discussion.

Xan on the other hand was listening carefully to the information being passed. Thankful was he that Domo was so infatuated with the game that he wouldn't have to explain such matters that seemed to be quite dear to a lot of the other raevans and guardians. This was going to be a challenge. "Unicorn and another Raevan?" His repeating what Alex said only helped to confirm the difficult road his new child would endure. Depending on how well the others received him would possibly reflect on Domevlo a great deal; however, he was certain the lead frei would bounce back just the same, although first impressions were often killer to a possible relationship in the future. Xan sighed wishing things would be simple enough.

Even though he understood part of what was being explained to him, he was too simple a guy to grasp the deep makings of what a Raevan truly was. To him he saw a living creature that was now - in all instances of the word - his son. Fel essence of unstable lead? This he would look into; he refused to be an ignorant guardian just because he was easygoing.

Upon combing fingers through silver hair he smiled giving his usual country charm and hospitality. "Don't worry your little head about it. I understand it must be hard losing a friend but if you think of it as his chance for a better life then all will work out. I'll definitely take good care of him." Xan informed his mint orbs trailing over to the two Raevan's before falling with a soft fatherly gaze on an equally destructive child species... Domo was already destroying the toy gun. With a low chuckle he set a comforting hand to Alex's shoulders. "He's my boy now and I'll make it a personal goal to see that he is happier this time around... but I also better see to it he doesn't make everyone's lives miserable with that crazy personality..." A thought came to mind as he moved toward the lead frei. With strong hands jutting out to catch hold of the toy before Domo could smash it once more to the counter he gave the tender a soft sigh. "How much?" Xan offered shelling out a decent sum before handing the broken toy to his charge.

"We don't break things because we lost, Domevlo. You're going to be understanding a great deal of discipline with me, kiddo." The lead frei only gave a pout of his lips a gesture he was thankful for the mask in hiding but Xan was no fool he could tell by the lowered lids of the frei's eyes and the way he looked off with a low almost dark shaded blush of embarrassment on his cheeks. Yes he would enjoy rearing his new charge, even if he was something of a loose canon. Turning back to Alex he gave the woman a soft pat on the middle of her back ushering her quickly from the booth before the tender thought it wise to ask for more compensation. "My dear this way if you will..." As they moved away he lowered his head to whisper to her. "I think now is as good a time as any to bid our farewells for the time being. I can return to your car for anymore papers or information you may have. The little tyke is probably anxious and now is as good as any to get him home and settled. What do you think?"

A silent nod followed the repeated words. It was hard to explain without going into detail, and she herself didn't know enough details to speak of them. As the cowboy continued, a grateful smile surfaced on her face, lifting her own hands to gently hold the one on her shoulder. "I know you'll take good care of him, Xan. We picked you because we believe you can, and that you'll make him the happiest in this chance. Thank you..." Had she known the man better, she would have embraced him on the spot, but it was business and she didn't want to take away the moment from Domevlo.

Who was apparently destroying a gun? The Italian turned as Xan moved towards his new family member, covering her mouth with her fingers in surprise...and in part not to laugh. She was relieved, somehow, that he was such a child. It was refreshing to see Domevlo being himself and not what she was afraid to see. "Thank goodness," she murmured softly, lowering her hands with a light smile.

Unfortunately, the elder Frei was too busy laughing to dissuade the lead Frei from destruction. Not that he was laughing at Domevlo, oh no, but it was quite possibly the most satisfying outcome of a loss he'd ever seen! Zul wrestled his mirth into submission, wiping at a piercing blue eye and patting the reborn Unicorn's arm. "You'll win if you keep trying," he advised the newborn with a grin. "Next time we meet, I want to see you win, Domeh'lo. Okay?" He did hope to meet the dark-skinned Frei again; he was so different, so much more open, he rather liked him.

Alex followed the two, next to Xan, a little surprised at the touch to her back but not minding in the least; it was soothing and something she would do herself. "I think it would be good to take him home, yes," she agreed reluctantly. She didn't really want to leave yet - and goodness knows Zul wouldn't let her, not until he'd played a few games - but she'd be sad to see her company go. "Yes, let's get you the papers to look over to make sure everything is in order and then..." Her own green eyes turned to his mint ones, smiling. "Home."
