Super Excited!! I went to see a movie last night and to kill time before it started, my boyfriend and I went to the book store. I'm browsing the manga and low and behold there it is! A reprinting of Clover, a manga that was first published in 1997 in Japan and 2001 in America. It was when tokyopop was still printing left to right. There was only one printing and it was an incredibly rare manga. You could find book one on amazon for $80-$100. But for CLAMP's 20th anniversary the printed an "omnibus" edition. It has all 4 books and includes the color pages! All for $20!
I dunno if any of you are CLAMP fans, but I love their works. Clover was basically an experiment in layout and color (straight black and white). The page design is pretty interesting.

I always worry that CLAMP is a little thin. I love the art but the storyline always feels like i'm being forced down a small tube toward the goal. Any must reads in this area? I have skimmed/read a lot (mostly first 2-3 books) but nothing has really snared me.

Clover seems to be pretty end oriented. I'm not really sure because I've only read the first book. Starting the others today. I've enjoyed xxxHolic. It has a bunch of short stories connected by the main characters. For the most part though, I enjoy their style of story telling. I've read just about everything they've written except Suki.

...We are all granted wings... Oooo, super lucky! That reminds me of the days when Viz published left to right, and I bought a butt load of manga for like $16 something dollars each. Ah, the good old days. Hmm, I wonder if there areny manga's I need to finish off from my older collection now. <_< .:goes to check:. ...But we must wait for the opportunity to fly...

Well, my copy I managed to find for about $20 although once I got it I realized I shouldn't have paid that much for it. It has a translucent dust jacket with gold art and looks really cool. But mine is an old library copy and was covered in library stickers, the cover was glued on (so the art on the covers is messed up because of the glue), and had writing over one of the color pages. I got it from a seller on Amazon who said it was in good condition. That does not follow their stated definition for "good." I did improve it's look by removing all the stickers and cleaning up the residual sticker glue gunk.

Thats harsh. I couldn't stand one of my books being written in. I guess I have become quite attached to them biggrin
The only series I got second hand was Evangelion but thats cause I couldn't get it any other way at the time =_= though I do heart it.
But yeah I dodged the clover and got the next 2 monster on their way along with filling the gaps on some other series that deserved it.
Alex's mission: To get hands on the last Trigun Maximum and the second Yotsuba&! Curse you amazon and your damn out of stock! No good geek shops in England less I find my way to London ¬_¬

Yeah...I had a little anger meltdown when I got the book. It pains me to write in books. I can't even write in my text books because I feel too guilty! I will write all over music though! But only in pencil. Pen is just wrong! lol
I envy you for being in England! There's a ladies shop I want to go to. I ordered from them online, but some of their clothes I'd want to try on before buying. *sigh*

That is so awesome! I will have to get it (Unless my beautiful Chloie has it already.) I just love CLAMP! I hope that they do not re-publish any of her really expensive and rare YAOI manga (Chloie). We are selling two right now for over $100 together! :3

Nice! I read the first bit of Clover in the store YEARS ago (is an old-timer at the age of 19 xd ) but don't remember it very well. I've been trying to get all of Clamp's stuff for a while now. I like their series a lot, even if some of them are a bit thin. LOL
And Yama...I kinda hope that they do reprint those books because it means that that publishing company is out of its slump and is going to finish this other series I read that they publish. It seems like they may have gone bankrupt though, so if it is published it might be by a different company and her books will still be worth a lot. xd
