Hello all! New to the guild!
Anyways, I have been in quite a stump lately. I feel like I'm unable to truly lose myself in any of the books I have picked up lately!
How badly do you guys feel when you're forced to return a book to the shelf, bookmark not even meeting the halfway mark? Any suggestions on incredible reads for me?!

You poor thing! What I usually do is put the book aside for a while and just find something else. If I really fell like I HAVE to read it, I'll put it in a bag for a doctor's appointment or the like, when my only other reading choices are old magazines about things I don't want to read about.

There was a thread about not finishing books a while ago, and I think the general opinion was that there are so many books that if you can't finish one it's no big deal; with so many books and so little time, why waste time on something you wont enjoy?
I think Olivia has a good idea to put the book away for a while until You want to approach it.
It's also possible that as a reader your tastes are changing. I think everyone changes as a reader at least once or twice in her/his life.

I hate when this happens! I just want to stop reading that book and pick up another one! You should read The Book Theif by Markus Zusak! It ROCKS!

I understand. When it happens to me, I usually decide that it is because I want a book of another genre, or one that will capture my interest more. So I set the other one aside and find a new one! Then, I return to the first one later.

Tell that to my English Teacher. So far all the books we've had to read were good, (The Outsiders, The City of Ember,) but I GUARANTEE the last one will suck.

I feel pretty bad when I can't bring myself to finish a book. So I usually force myself to read it until I'm through with it.

...birds creep over tin roofs, like criminals with tap shoes... I Hear ThunderIm also one of those that force myself through bad books. And often i find, that they weren't as bad as i thought they were. But that might be because im far to nice and soft when it comes to critiquing books XD
And what kinda books do you like Infty?
But Theres No Rain ...stain the glass with windows, extortionate and cold stare...

Oh no! There were a few books in my short lifetime that did that to me.... I just put them down and re-read a book that I loved! Sometimes I wish I hadn't sped through my favorite series one book per night so I could go back to them without already having the whole plot memorized. The one I'm stuck in now is a good story but I'm lost because it's in the middle of the series _______________________________________________ Say Wha-? Mister Silly Sign Here! It's Silas!
