When do you usually set your stories?
I usually start my stories a year back, just in case I start writing a lot and get past the current date. So the story I'm writing takes place in 2008, so I would still count that as present.

I never specify what year my stories are in but with there being 21st century gagdets normally involved in my stories, the reader can pretty much tell when it's set =]

I don't usually state what year either but if I did it would be with whatever genre I am writing IE science fiction novels tend to push towards the future, fantasy novels during the past and romance novels in all fields.

Well the story I WAS working on (until the laptop crashed) was a story kinda about life so I needed to arrange all the years to make it where it would make sense, etc. but not worth it now. sad

I never really specify when My stories take place. I guess that way the reader can connect with it whenever they want. Especially if one plans to be published, having a set date of taking place can seem a bit strange.

Usually my stories take place in the far future or the past.... or just some other world.

Well generally I like writing about the past, but I will write in a modern setting from time to time. I also like to write stories that begin in ancient times, and whether through time travel, or some other reason will expand into the modern world.

The story I'm currently working on begins in the past, but transfers to another generation. So it's a bit of both.

That story sounds interesting. What is it about?

my stories never really have a specific time period. it kind of skips around, you could say...future, past, present times show in all my stories.
