My brother and I helped my dad clean the pond today, and now I have a new appreciation for clean water. Surprisingly enough, though, I really kind of liked the mud [aka decomposing leaves, algae, dead things, and other such organic matter] that we dredged out of the bottom. Sure, maybe it smelled bad, but there was a connection on a very deep, four-year-old level going on there as we were picking though it looking for fish that weren't dead. It was fun. When's the last time you were covered in mud?

Erm a rugby match during the pouring rain, where I ended up.. well we all ended up looking like the mud person, which is quite an achievement for me as I hate being muddy.

Last year during our treks across the oval to the BBQ pit so everyone could smoke and keep watch for hostile teachers who didn't appreciate our lifestyle choices. In summer it was great but in winter cause there wasn't much grass it'd get so muddy you're shoes would completely become mud pies - and I had platforms on. Plus we'd use them like those "water slides" you'd have as a kid - you know those plastic sheets you'd put across the lawn, turn the hose on and then belly slide across.

I can not remember the last time I was covered in mud.
But do remember being a child and loving to get down and dirty. I loved bugs, all sorts, making mud pies, etc.
And I love the smell of fresh earth.

Fresh earth is a nice smell, yes.
Covered? I'm honestly not sure I ever was. Coated in to a great degree? I don't remember specifically, though I was little. Had some on my elbow? Eh, couple hours ago.

I don't get covered in mud often.
Sand makes very poor mud.

I think I fell in mud a couple years ago...I'm not sure I was covered but it ruined my pants.

We were pushing each other in it and rolling around, our clothes were never the same after that. xD

And we had sport so my teacher decides it'd be great if we go out and play soccer. Best sports lesson I ever had. We fell over and crashed into each other so much, it was more like playing dodgeball only you had to dodge everything. Thankfully my teacher had the sense to split the girls and boys. Normally I'm opposed to this but I sure as hell didn't wanna get smashed by one of them!
